-PSU has to ensure Gabriel cannot scramble because he is dangerous running & throwing on the run.
-PSU corners are going to have to play their best game because Oregon's WRs are outstanding.
-DL & LBers have to have gap discipline or James (RB) can easily bust out for chunk runs & long TDs - lots of speed.
-Avoid dumb penalties (defensive off sides. "taunting", excessive celebration on the field).
-Coach K needs to avoid the "tricky" stuff trying to insert Beau in when Allar is in Rythm.
--No three runs up the middle in the red zone
--They need to involve WRs and get Singleton in space

I somewhat wish the game weren’t indoors, but with DDS back… I like our chances of getting to the QB and forcing trouble. They can’t just worry about AC like teams did when DDS was out.

And I want to see Singleton’s speed indoors.

Singleton must play 75% of the snaps. Allen is a liability.

I wonder if Allen is hurt? He seems indecisive and slower - nit that he was a burner - he's not the same as he was in the 1st half of the season.
I agree that he must be dinged up. His speed is just awful… likely 4.7 40. It is not Franklin’s style but he should not be playing on the forst team until he is healthy .

Sidebar: I hope the referee crew doing tonight's Oregon vs Washington game gets to call the B1G CCG.

Hopefully Trey Wallace can play because I don't remember him having a catch vs Maryland. All hands on deck Oregon looks very good vs UW but Wisky did take them to the wire.

PSU needs to actually show up and play in the 1st quarter.
We didn't last time and it worked out OK. Of course we had a bunch of stud receivers and Saquon, and love him or hate him Trace was one tough SOB. Took a beating and just kept going. Can't fall behind 28-7 this time or they'll hang 50 on us.

My impressions of Oregon:
— Lots of speed
— More explosive than OSU on offense
— Not as solid as OSU on defense
— Pass rush must contain QB in pocket
— PSU must tackle well
— PSU can’t afford a sleep-walking start
— PSU can’t afford special teams mistakes
Play solid football right from the start and it could be a very interesting game.

PSU is going to have a real hard time staying within two touchdowns of Oregon. Their offense tends to spread out the opponent and that will invariably create mismatches. Our defense will have to man up in ways that it has not demonstrated. PSU has not seen anything like this Oregon offense.

I just don't see how our defense stops their offense on a pristine, indoor track. Every man has got to be at the top of their game. Every man will have to be disciplined within their assignment. That's not how we play. We tend to swarm.

On the other side I struggle to see how we will score points. We're not going to blow them off the line. It will be more like the OSU matchup.

To keep this game close Franklin will have to come up with a ball control, short-passing strategy. Have to keep the Oregon offense on the bench. Somehow we need to change our identity on both sides of the ball within one week of today.

So I see Oregon easily covering in this game even if the line significantly drifts.

This was the worst outcome if we expected to advance the program by (finally) getting into the Final 4. Before the OSU loss to Michigan there was a reasonable path, but now we will likely be playing an extra game, and that game will be against a better team.

When you think about it a NY6 bowl game is far more unlikely than it was just yesterday. We will be a 3-loss team.

Then guess what happens when the destination is a minor bowl. That's right, all of our best players won't even be there.

Wonderful to be playing for the Conference Championship isn't it?

What’s interesting is that PSU beat Wisconsin, Purdue and Maryland by larger scores than Oregon did.

What are you talking about? Even if PSU loses, it will be 11-2 and have at worst the 6th seed in the playoffs. If a team makes the playoffs, they don’t go to a bowl game that’s not part of the playoffs, and if they lose the season ends.

By the way, this same Oregon team only beat 5-7 Wisconsin a few weeks ago 16-13.

Some of these people don’t even have a clue what’s going on. This guy doesn’t even know Penn states record. Another guy earlier said Indiana goes to be ten championship, it’s a comedy show here

I was not aware of the first round being disqualifying. So basically you can be a good team and be out before Christmas, finishing your season in some other team's home stadium.

Sorry, yea that scenario was so far out there that it did not even occur to me.

I'll get another drink. It is late.

You play the games on your schedule. Would you have rather lost at any point during those other six "upset alert" games?

I want the whole thing too, but at the end of the day REGARDLESS of whether we lose 42-10 next week or win 24-23 next week, we are one of 12 teams with a shot.

Not one team in this, is a 95 Nebraska, or any of the Alabama/Georgia/LSUs, or a 94 PSU, or any of the Florida/Ohio State Meyer teams.

My glass is half full. Sorry yours is half empty.

We'll be fine either way. If we lose like you think we will we probably weren't going to win it all anyway, and we know where we stand. We left points on the field against Ohio State. We have to convert those kinds of chances in this one to have a chance. I think this team has a little something - they seem to believe in each other. I would not be shocked if we win this game. We could also get boat raced if we don't match their intensity level.

I talked to them, and I have the aliens on our side. You won't see them (well, except for vague blips here or there ... fast moving dots and all that), but you'll see their handiwork. PSU by 3 TDs.

I am being realistic about the matchup. This is the one matchup that I think is lopsided. The game is not going to be played in a cold, wet, wind. This won't be like Oregon going to Wisconsin.

This game will be played indoors. That is a huge advantage for a finesse spread team that has athletes at every position.

The CCG games mess up the tournament and present an unfair bias against being a conference runner-up. It pains me but on this question I agree with Lando.

This year there is a good chance that we finish our season at the South Bend Bowl. Think about that. Don't you just love the idea of a December vacation on the wind swept ice cold plains of Northwest Indiana. You even get to fly into Chicago.

I remember when finishing 2nd meant you were the at-large team in the Fiesta, Orange, or Sugar Bowl -- such awful places for Christmas compared to South Bend and Touchdown Jesus.

We'll be fine against Oregon. If we dictate the play, we'll win. If we play it safe and try to keep it close into the fourth quarter, we probably end up losing it.

James has to let our O play their game. Score points because Oregon is likely to score some.

Our d-ends are now healthy and should cause Oregon fits. Carter is becoming increasingly more unblockable every game and DDS & Vanover are really contributing. 13 is becoming a good linebacker.

Beat them and we're probably the 1 seed because Georgia probably beats Texas again.

You are freaking out. Relax. The absolute worst seed we could get is 7. That's IF we get blown out by Oregon. We are in, and we will either get a first round bye or play someone other than ND at home. Fact and lock.

The committee is on record as saying CCG losers are not going to be punished. Every single team other than ND with one loss will remain behind Penn State. Those with two will also finish behind Penn State. AT THE ABSOLUTE DOOMSDAY SCENARIO only Ohio State will jump us and that will not be enough to push us all the way back to 9.

Regardless of the outcome against Oregon....Penn State is guaranteed a first round home game.

Get Warren and Singleton the ball as much as possible on O- Allar is going to have to run when no one is open and No offsides penalties No Personal Fouls, No blunders on Special Teams.

Agree. the key to the game is if PSU can establish a running game. O gave up almost 200 yards to that excellent RB from Boise. A good running game will keep O's offense off the field.

Do you think players would want to play in a bowl game after losing a playoff game? Imagine the opt outs in that scenario.

We have to hope the game isn’t officiated like yesterday’s was. Questionable spots and only two penalties for 8 yards against a team that was completely overmatched. If they call it that way against Oregon, we’ll get crushed.

Hopefully McGinn's crew is given the game to referee.
