Bettin' yinz are the same guys that were screaming "Fire Franklin" after the '16 Michigan game.
You are incorrect...I have never wanted to fire Franklin. But Franklin was in year two....Chambers is in year seven, huuuggeee difference. I didn’t want to fire Chambers in year two either (or year three or four).Bettin' yinz are the same guys that were screaming "Fire Franklin" after the '16 Michigan game.![]()
If Southerners can say y'all, Pittsburghers can say yinz!Is "yinz" like " yous guys"?
Both had significant challenges when they came on board. CJF hand strung with after effects of sanctions. PC inherited a train wreck that DeChellis left behind. For CJF, the cupboards had a few items left; for PC, not only were the cupboards bare, the cupboards themselves were missing. Even though I’ve been frustrated this BB season and felt a couple times it was torturous being a PSU BB fan, PC has brought in the best assembly of talent in decades, has us headed in the right direction, represents PSU well by being a good citizen doing a lot of good for others and deserves an extension.
Now that you say that is a pittsburgher the same as a Rothlisberger? Do they both have slaw?If Southerners can say y'all, Pittsburghers can say yinz!
Bet you didn't say that 4 days ago. And you won't be here to say it 3 days from now either.Bettin' yinz are the same guys that were screaming "Fire Franklin" after the '16 Michigan game.![]()
No, but two of the recruits will...also wouldn't be surprised if we're in the market for a grad xfer big (though not an easy market to get involved in).Any red shirts that will have an impact next year?
OL
---It was NCAA or bust this year...that should still be the case.
I never wanted Franklin to be fired but Chambers has had long enough...this comparison doesn't even make see given tenure.

We are talking sports here, its not supposed to make sense.
Chambers is finally making solid progress and you want him fired? Sure it took longer than anyone would have liked but there were issues. One PSU has never been a Bball school and recruiting has always been tough. Pa has a lot of great bball schools like St Joe's, Penn, 'nova, Temple, La Salle, Drexel, and Pitt ( prior to the last two years) that we have to compete with Chambers finally got Philly kids to buy in and you want to stop that now.
Add in the Sandusky scandal just as Chamber was hired. PSU was so toxic it hurt more than football. Made it hard for any coach to recruit.
You really think we could get a top quality coach to come here with out spending over $10mil/yr? Especially if you fire a guy that is finally turning out a winner? You gonna tell the next guy that he has to make the NCAA dance at a school that rarely does so or your fired. Great way to get a good coach.

Never wanted him fired. He has a very young team with raw talent that needed time to gell. He is recruiting better than any I can remember and the next couple of years should be good. The BJC is finally a fun place to watch a game and that should help recruiting too. Give him a three yr extension.
Hey 78—maybe setting the bar a bit low, but higher than it’s been in a long, long time. You're setting the bar very low for "deserving an extension" IMO
I also think our talent is overrated--there's little depth beyond the big 4 and Garner
Hey 78—maybe setting the bar a bit low, but higher than it’s been in a long, long time.
Let’s make NCAA first. Not many quality wins. CBS just said if they win today they are still not in
Pittsburghers are well done, Prime, Grade A beef! Now that you say that is a pittsburgher the same as a Rothlisberger? Do they both have slaw?
Can't somebody offer Carr $100K to stay?I don't believe we're in good shape for the future unlike you. I think Carr leaves after this year and we struggle to go 500 in conference play next year
But beating a ranked Ohio State three times, was, well, fun.It was NCAA or bust this year...that should still be the case.

So we keep Chambers forever just because we don’t know who would possibly want the job...ok, gotcha. With the college basketball landscape being what it is right now, who exactly would you have replace Chambers? Also, what name coach that is clean is going to come to PSU? Especially considering our administrative peccadillos and disinterest in funding basketball or anything other than what puts money in our BoT's and their friend's pockets?
Unless we get a Pegula type donor for basketball I don't see how we do much better than Chambers, not that I think he should be replaced.
I would extend Pat but only because I don't think any coach can win big here unless he cheats. That said, this is a good season (for us), not a great one. Beating OSU 3 times is nice, but if you don't make the NCAA's (and we won't), in the end, it doesn't mean much.Bettin' yinz are the same guys that were screaming "Fire Franklin" after the '16 Michigan game.![]()

Uh, I never once said keep Chambers forever. How did you get that from what I wrote? Not sure why you're saying gotcha because you missed the point.
The point is we have bigger problems facing the basketball program than Pat Chambers. For starters our administration isn't going to pay a big name coach the money necessary to make them "want the job".
You think the type of coach that would immediately improve the team is gonna come here for less money than every where else? To shittier facilities? To an administration that's aloof because the program makes money while failing?
You were trolling me, right? You really couldn't have missed what I was saying that badly.
So what’s going to change? You said we couldn’t get the type of coach we would need to win here, so what’s going to change? If we have to keep Pat now because the type of coach we need won’t come here, when will the type of coach we need come here? Two years from now, three, four?Uh, I never once said keep Chambers forever. How did you get that from what I wrote? Not sure why you're saying gotcha because you missed the point.

I do...I just found out through an email. My fortune is on its way.I understand exactly what you're saying man. Bottom line, the administration has to want to improve the program first. That unfortunately means money. It's profitable even in it's darkest days, so they don't care to spend to improve it. Until that changes, well....never.
You don't happen to have mega rich uncle, do you? Nigerian Prince?

So you didn't watch many games this year? He can't do anything with talent. There is no way we should have lost multiple games we did this year, which is why we are out of the tournament. Multiple horrible, horrible losses. But give him 3 more years, right.
It is unbelievable to me the lengths some go to here to not fire a coach. It's all rationalization.
