Anyone Feeling Cold Today?

Hope all you guys in PA are hanging in there. I had to change into shorts and a T shirt here in Yuma today. Too warm for jeans and my PSU sweatshirt. 😎
A few of us in Iowa are hanging in as well. It's so nasty. Most people here just stocked up on Busch Light and are hunkering down. I'd rather go for a swim out there than drink that crap.

Everyone be safe! It is a real feel of -10 here in MD. We are heading up to State College after lunch. It will definitely be a hunker down inside Christmas this year!

One of about 500k in NC without power. For us, been 24 hrs now and was 9 degrees this am. We r fine (wood burner and generator) but I’m sure there’s a number of folks not as fortunate
Ouch. Hopefully they get it back on soon. Everybody's pipes will be breaking in that temp.

I was really worried about losing power. The wind here is terrible. Next town over (3 miles away) lost power yesterday for a while. Ours flickered a couple times but so far so good.

Longest I ever went without power was 3 days during winter when I was in high school. We had a wood and coal stove and cooked on the grill.

I'm in south Charlotte, and part of the rolling black outs. 6 am till 9:30am. Everyone needs to stop using their ovens for primerib. Ours is going on the Weber kettle today.

…..but I’d miss the change of seasons that we enjoy here in Central Pennsylvania … 🥶 😆

Having hvac issues in Austin. Blower but no heat Thursday night. Repair guys fixed Friday am. Same thing just happened. Dispatch said they can’t come until Monday am - so no heat for the 2 coldest nights of the year during this unusual cold snap for this area. I have the repair guy’s cell # and am guilt tripping him. He’s at a movie but hopefully he has a heart and will fix this permanently. Gave the guy a tip too.

Gas fireplace here which is decorative pretty much - puts out almost no heat past 6 feet away.

I was swimming in Orlando last week now I'm sitting in 4 degree weather wtf already. Can't wait for the new year and the high in the 30s. Lol. Merry Christmas fellas

Make your way to the border and turn yourself in. Seriously you probably have a 3 amp breaker that keeps shorting. Holiday Inn Express is my friend.

You need a wood stove CT. Our huge stove is my security blanket in bitter cold. Have put more than a cord of splits in it, Dec alone. Wed night it was -43F here… not wind chill. Bozeman airport NWS station missed the all time mark of -46F by one degree. Ugly stuff is out of here now - back to skiing.

Hope they get this sorted out for you pronto.

Pellet stove in basement (yes THAT basement) nice too look at when the glass is clean and puts out a lot of heat but the bad thing with these is when the electric blinks (im talking even the SLIGHTEST blip) she goes out. Ok if we are here and can just hit restart button, but if we’re gone, she wont come back on.

SPEAKING OF……
Vizio TV
Will turn itself off after 3 or 4 hours of inactivity, we can program that.
BUT… when the power goes out or blinks TV comes on and STAYS on
Therefore anytime we know we’re gonna be gone for a few days we need to unplug the damn thing.

Yeah, hotel or anywhere else is out because my son has special needs and does not want to stay anywhere strange. Last attempt at a vacation at the beach ended 18 hrs later with me driving him 4 hrs back home.

That said, I turned the thermostat off. Waited a bit. Turned it back on and it was still just blowing. Left for drive with my boy and came back with it working. I’ll have them come back out, but hopefully this ghetto strategy bridges the gap to Monday

What I figured, a wire from thermostat is shorting.

We are at -4 here in Lilly. But this wind is terrible. Wind chills to -28.

I think our low last night was -7.
I thought my work Jeep was gonna blow over coming up Cresson mountain yesterday. I stopped in Ebensburg for gas. I pumped 8 bucks in and said nope...gonna wait till Tuesday to fill her rest of way. Lol

Heard somewhere up towards Helena it hit -50°.
Wood heats our house as well. Glad I cut extra the way this season is turning out.

We went to my parents yesterday in Osterburg. Then we went to Altoona and Osterburg this morning. Wife's VW did well. We went down the new highway but back up old 22. It's like summer down there compared to up here.

Lol. Altoona wasn’t bad at all. Soon as I got halfway up the mountain it was like a completely different world.
