A caller called into Phils show complaining about Rivals ranking system and how something is "not right" about it and I am starting to see what he is talking about. What's the deal?
Well, there is Rivals, and then there are our BIG RIVALS...Rutgers and Temple. The latter 2 are fair game. The former? Well, we'll see if you're still posting tomorrow.![]()
Well, they say "great minds" think alike............or is it "small minds" think alike? Well, in any event, I probably beat you tonight because you were comforting Fonzie in his misery and yours is the higher calling.Damn, you're quick.....as soon as I saw Rivals, I thought ONLY Temple and Rutgers deserved Rivals as a capitalized word!
Well, let's not get all crazy. If you get banned, those recruiting updates go with you and that is not acceptable.Farrell is a POS and I hope he sees this and bans me
That's a damn good point fair!Well, let's not get all crazy. If you get banned, those recruiting updates go with you and that is not acceptable.
According to his Linkedin bio, it only took him 14 years to graduate, too. Must have taken every course in their catalog.Do you really want to get into a battle of wits with this guy?

Central Connecticut State? Really?

Guys, chill a bit. I try to give you some freedom. That said, what do you think is the likely result if you go overboard about Rivals employees on a message board that is hosted on the Rivals network?
Tom, you won't catch me giving them any grief.....they might revert The Board back to the prior operating system, punish us all by allowing true THREADS and, worse, take all my LIKES away!

Farrell should not be allowed around PSU commits, that BS he did with the Lavert Hill interview was horrible. He might as well said, "Just flip to michigan now, come on, do it."
Yeah, the Rivals 250 prior to the recent update had 7 PSU commits. In the update, EVERY ONE dropped in the rankings, including Zembiec, who slid out of the top 250. And several of the profiles, like those on Miles Sanders and Lavert Hill, seemed to emphasize the possibility of them switching.
It was not fair treatment of the PSU commits.
Tom thanks for showing restraint we are just frustrated with the situation.Guys, chill a bit. I try to give you some freedom. That said, what do you think is the likely result if you go overboard about Rivals employees on a message board that is hosted on the Rivals network?
I come here for the entertainment value. I go to other sites for my recruiting information. Rivals won't get my money until they clean up their act. Too bad, soo sad. Ban me, I'll keep coming back with a different email address like a cockroach. Post count and likes mean nothing to me. One site even has one of our lineman recruits as a 5*, while this site has him dropping. Lol, gimme a break.
That's true, but I also think higher rated recruits draw higher rated recruits. A top 10 class draws attention, and a top 5 draws even more. Why care how Rivals rates them. The only thing that matters is how they perform on the field.
After a brief back and forth the line from Coriolanus would be appropriate, “More of your conversation would infect my brain.”Do you really want to get into a battle of wits with this guy?

I'm generally not paranoid about this type of thing, but the trend you cite is undeniable. There is a bias against PSU. Doesn't really matter. Franklin is flat out convincing talented players to come to PSU. It's just that the bias is so predictable that it's now funny. There is no point in biting the hand that feeds you, but the trend with Rivals and PSU is unmistakeable. It's their business to run as they please, but every time I get close to giving them my money they seem to give me a reason not to.
At this very moment, after getting Pryts, we are now further behind Michigan!
I ended my subscription after 14 years. I got lucky. My card was attacked, but my credit union caught it, cancelled my card and sent me a new one. When Rivals attempted to renew me automatically, they had my old card numbers. I got to think about Rivals, Nate Bauer, and some of his smug correspondence with me. I decided to keep my money and just use Tom's Board only. I am more than happy with my decisions. There is no point in biting the hand that feeds you, but the trend with Rivals and PSU is unmistakeable. Nailed it. Like it or not, rankings in this day and age matter. Maybe not for a player or team on the field, but for perception. Franklin is killing it the last 2 years, and people are noticing. That includes top recruits. That's true, but I also think higher rated recruits draw higher rated recruits. A top 10 class draws attention, and a top 5 draws even more.

I get updates from another service which is trying to get me to join, announcing new commits. It's a beautiful thing. Screw Rivals.

And I agree with that. Also true, but in general, I think they likely look at the composite rankings instead of just one site. When they're ranked on multiple sites, they'll undoubtedly like the one that ranks them highest the most.
