AS THE BIRD TURNS (IOWA STUFF)

The comment that pushed him over the edge a) wasn't remotely related or directed at him, b) was not trolling, c) was to a reasonable Hawkeye poster, @Nashville_Hawkeye, and d) was a reasonable opinion. Despite all that, now I gotta wrestle the guy.

Nashville chose to use Meyer v. Hall as his David v. Goliath example for Murin v. Yianni. I simply asked if he couldn't come up with a better example, considering all of the circumstances with Hall in that match. True freshman, Carver, first match out of redshirt.

And, that is what led to a 54 year old and a 68 year old having a wrestling match. Sheesh.

All the time I’ve spent over there not once was I challenged to wrestling match.

This may seem strange to most but I no longer feel worthy to be in your presence….

Out of curiosity, what’s the end result of the wrestling match? If he wins does that mean your opinion was wrong in his mind?

All of this could've been settled if only there were a matchup in that weight range between a recent SR 3x champ against a SR former PA state champ who had never reached the podium.

Like, say, Stieber vs. Dziewa. Wonder how that one went?

Does the wife know that you are breaking out the retired singlet?
Will you be having a camp to get ready for said match?

I hadn't been to the HR to read in quite a while, I went over there and WOW I can't look away.
It's like an alternate universe..
I know we get some bad takes over here but they buckle up and run with theirs.
It might be strange to say but I might have to create an account over there.

Jewish wrestlers aren’t really going to hang with Spencer. No offense to Jews, just not their thing. I hope that isn’t offensive, you never know these days.”

We might have our first suspect in Carver Water Bottle and/or Ethnic Slur-Gate
Nope, first suspect I think is NCHawk5, I think that is the handle. A day or 2 after NCAA's he started a thread that has been deleted titled something along the lines of "athletic type wrestlers running the sport" and named RBY, CStar and Caldwell as his examples. When someone pointed out why he only named black wrestlers it began a big back and forth similar to their thread about the Gomez situation.

Yup - sports are always better when less athletic people are playing. Look at women’s basketball vs mens.:D

Apparently Vegas has gotten ahold of this, and the 1st money is on me. I'm thinking now I should hold out for a pay per view deal. It'd be worth tens.
He may have had a chance earlier in the season. He’s a hawk in the second half of March. Everything points to a win for you followed by an April thread about the ass kicking you’re in for next year

I don't know that I'd necessarily say that about the entirety of the board -- many are engaging in a fairly thoughtful and healthy post-mortem, which is what you should do when you don't achieve your objectives. See, e.g., Smith, J.

But Ironbird...my goodness. Usually I'm pretty good at identifying and largely ignoring stuff from the lunatic fringe, on HR or on BWI. But somehow I couldn't unsee his posts. Personally, the most unhinged part to my eye was his tendency to "rebut" things by quite literally just making things up (e.g., the part about flying people around, etc.).

I have to admit...I don't get the "joke" in here. The only thing I can think of would some awful, completely forced attempt at a crucifixion joke.

I took it less as a joke and more as Sans just being dismissive of the troll attempt by faking an actual analysis.

Did he also start a thread about articulate wrestlers?

Are you allowed to wrestle or does it violate your probation like fighting does?
I’d imagine after that 15 year run in the big house you’d be ready to fight someone.

I took the Spencer vs Jesus thread as a tongue-in-cheek response to all the “generational” accolades being thrown Spencer’s way in recent days in other HR threads.

Spencer Lee is great. I wish we had him. But if a guy that is 2 for 4 at his conference championship tournament and that was pinned by a guy that’s never made an NCAA final is “generational”, then I’m not sure I know the meaning of the word.

I thought “generational” meant once in a generation. In Iowa, it apparently means being one of the two or three best in college in any one given year.

I don't think Spencer Lee is any more of a generational folkstyle talent than Zain Retherford, Jason Nolf, Bo Nickal, David Taylor, Ed Ruth, Yianni Diakomihalis, Kyle Dake, Logan Steiber, Kyle Snyder or Jayden Cox.

And I am sure there are plenty of others people can name.

That’s what I mean. Generational is one in at least 10 and probably more like 20 years to me. There has to be clear separation from the other best wrestlers of the decade, at least, to be “generational”.
