All those years of beating up on the Austin Peays of the world have come home to roost. Inviting them to the B1G, in retrospect, is a real head scratcher. Could the conference get a do over?

I mean that PI/holding call did seem like BS to me.

Them losing gets us nothing.

Frost will be fired by Monday

Nebraska leads the series vs PSU 10-8

They have to fire him this week? Right?
Like a now or never type scenario?

The sad part for Nebraska is it isn't the coach. It's the fact it's Nebraska and no one person can change that, not even their favorite son.

Nebraska still hasn't gotten over Tom Osborne's retirement.

As much as I have disdain for many of the Big 10 schools / fans like Neb and Iowa, it hurts the conference reputation when they lose to these non-power 5 programs. You seldom see the SEC teams lose these games or maybe they just don’t take the chance with some of the better non-power 5 teams ??

Really? Didn't App State just beat #6 aTm???

I agree but lets be fair here, even the Nebraska's & Wisconsin's of the world, schools with pretty good historical profiles aren't recruiting anywhere close to the type of athletes that say the second or third tier SEC teams are.

If LSU, GA & Bama are tier 1
Then Florida, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Auburn, Ark, A&M these 2nd/3rd tier types are way ahead of other conference 2nd/3rd tier types.

I mean Florida and Auburn have won national titles in the past 15 years or so and they aren't even in the conversation of probably getting to their conference championship.

Its a pretty huge leap.

After Oct 1, when his buyout drops in half to $7.5 million.

That's $833,333 per day they can save if they can wait out 19 days in September.

WVU, ND & Nebraska possibly looking for new coaches already.
Jimbo's seat got pretty hot yesterday too.
ND is in a real pickle. They have to give their hire lots of extra time. I expect he will be there through next season at least. He's probably going to be a decent coach someday, but the ND job is too much for any first-time head coach.

58 wins in 6 years. Three top 10 finishes, five top 20s. No losing records. New AD says he can’t let Nebraska slide into mediocrity and fires him.
Sounds like a lot of posters on here.

Today the Sun Belt Conference beat the SEC, the Big Ten and Notre Dame.
These directional schools are no pushovers and the kids play their butts off .The old take that for not recruiting us attitude

Nebraska plays Oklahoma on Sep 17. And they're off on Sep 24. And they play Indiana on Oct 1. If they beat Oklahoma then they can't fire him until he loses at least one more and that won't be until Oct 1. And even if Neb loses to Okla, they can't fire him before Oct 1 because it costs $7.5 M and they can't fire him on Oct 1 because they have a game that day (unless they fire him right after the game).

Even if he loses to Okla, if they beat Ind can Neb fire him right after a win? I don't know.

Kansas may surprise by winning 5/6 games. They have a pretty good coach with Liepold.
Don't get me wrong, I like Lane Leipold. He did a nice job in Buffalo (they had a bad loss last night) and even better job with WI-Whitewater but giving up 55 points to Kansas at home after the way they lost to Pitt is a real bad loss. The next two weeks will tell us if Kansas can win more than 4. They have to beat Houston and/or Duke to pull that off but Leipold has them going in the right direction...finally

My dad was a big "Subway Alum" meaning athletic guy of Irish descent from the NYC area who went to a small college and therefore rooted for the Domers...as did I for much of my childhood.

When I was in high school we would go to ND games. Became friends with their QB Club President. Counted families like the Montanas as friends. Gerry Faust was a compete gentleman who wrote me a very inspiring note to try and get me to "study hard and I'll see you at Notre Dame!"

All of that and $2.50 will get you a ride on a real subway (or El, Metro, MARTA etc.)

Just win baby! He didn't and got walked, as Freeman will eventually. Tough job for sure.
