Came in for Taylor tonight and looks decent.

11-15 for 145 so far. Just drove Cleveland downfield to tie game on a Hyde TD run and Mayfield caught the two point conversion.

Looks like the Taylor era in Cleveland is over.....they wasted a 3rd on him...

The
Turnover machine Darnold right on cue.
Darnald hype is sickening. Kid is good but not great. Yes, a turnover machine. So now onto the Baker hype which will last a couple of weeks until the DC’s get tape on him. This class of QB’s was way over hyped.

Well, it looks like Cleveland may win a few games this year. I also thought the team played a little harder with Mayfield in the game.

Fair or not, I’ve read that, because of their similar physical statures, Mayfield’s success will only enhance McSorely’s draft status. That said, I don’t think Mayfield will ultimately have a ton of success in the long run.

This is the Cleveland Browns. If Taylor is healthy Taylor needs to play. Otherwise they may stop being the Cleveland Browns.

The Browns could be 3-0 or at the very least 2-1 right now. I'm a Saints fan and the Saints were lucky as hell Cleveland's kicker sh!t the bed that day. They almost beat the Steelers as well in week 1. While they may not be in the Super Bowl this year, the Brown's will at least be a step up from the last few years.

Tyrod looked like he was just mailing it in last night.
And the Browns didn't waste anything on Taylor. That was a good trade. Even if he doesn't play another snap he gave Mayfield time and is a competent backup.

Mayfield was awesome. I have no idea why the Jets didn't blitz the livin life out of a first time rookie. BM was 17 - 23 and he had at least three drops. One was a long throw on a dime. I don't think he had a bad pass the entire game. He was quick, decisive, read the defenses....everything you could have asked for.

I didn't like him at OK but the kid has serious swagger. He's got quite an interesting story.....if you don't know:
  1. Walk on at Texas Tech, started the first game as a true freshmen. it is believed he is the first true freshmen walk-on to start a power five season. In one game, he goes 43 of 60 for 413 yards, a school record.
  2. Gets hurt, had a dispute with staff regarding rehab, and being under no scholarship (was a walk on) left the program and transferred to OK
  3. He had no contact with OK coaches, just decided that was where he wanted to be
  4. Had to sit out a year because of B-12 transfer rules.
  5. starts three years at OK, wins the Heisman and makes it to the BCS
  6. Cant forget his famous resisting arrest while being drunk.
Love him or hate him, he owns the city today.

I’m just wondering when the Baker Mayfield movie will be made...and I’m not being sarcastic.

don't disagree...incredible journey for a kid that wants what he wants and goes and gets it.

Also of note in the game was Isiah Crowell wiping his butt with the ball then throwing it into the stands. he was a former CLE player and got into a lot of local trouble after tweeting out a photo of a cop getting his throat slashed. He got a 15 yard penalty, which is minimally effective when the kickers commonly boot the ball ten yards deep in the end zone. NFL has to look at that rule. IMHO, those kinds of antics cannot be allowed to stand. If I were commissioner, and it is OK in the CBA, I'd suspend the guy for a game without pay.

Oh my God. Did you actually say something remotely negative about the Steelers?!? On THIS board?!?

Browns look much better this year. ESPN will hype Mayfield as next Drew Brees for a week or so until he has a bad game. Defenses will be better prepared now that they have game tape.

This. They'll find a way to screw it up. They make my Lions look like
Lombardi's Packers

Unfortunately, I think the Browns got themselves a good one. He's got a strong, accurate arm. He can throw on the run, and is slippery in the pocket. He also gave the team a spark (a la McSorley) last night as soon as he entered the game.

Yeah that was rather odd. I mean does the guy have no brain?
Aikman and the other guy didn't really know what to say because it seemed at first he was doing some special celebration.
A single game suspension isn't really enough. Should be a three game suspension.

I am on record saying he was the best QB in the class and did not like Darnold. Time will tell. That said, I'd rather be playing for Cleveland than the Jets.

I was surprised by his "ball". A very tight spiral with lots of rotation. Not sure it came across on TV but it was warm and windy last night. His ball cuts through the wind, which is needed in CLE. But his throws were crisp and every one was very accurate. He also had great pocket presence. This is great for McSorley....

I don't think McSorley has Mayfield's arm, but I think the similarities will make teams look at him in in the top of the 3rd.

I thought the Browns were just being the Browns, having never looked at Mayfield's highlights. But watching some from 2016, it's obvious he has a special arm and a sixth sense of pressure in the pocket.

This is bad news for the Steelers.
