Bassett to Iowa

Bo wanted to be the face of the program, like Spencer Lee(though that didn't work out that well with recruiting). That wouldn't have happened at Penn State. He made his choice, so truly good luck to him. I do have to admit I never understand how kids pick Iowa after watching the crazy Brand Brothers show who get underwhelming results every year. .
I’ve posted 100x… a certain hardcore mindset is going to choose Iowa over PSU. I prob would have had I had any talent 35 years ago. Some wrestlers bang their head into the wall pre-match and some don’t.

And I’m confused how he said he wrestles the Iowa style, no he doesn’t, he actually scores points.

Is it true all the fans threw their glasses on the mat when he announced Iowa?

It had literally nothing to do with being the face of the program, coaches, favorite wrestlers or location. His Dad couldn't pass up the money and the screen shots of the messages are making thier rounds. He had to commit immediately to get it. That's why the circus ended so early and unexpectedly. A kid that has trained that hard and wrestled the amount of matches he has in his short lifetime, Iowa is the last place I'd be sending my kid. Owell good for them, money is important. I guess we'll see how well the snap down go behind translates to college.

Per Gripp they are doing it the right way. By purchasing half of the lineup? And once again the Hawks have to dip into the PA talent pool to stay close. Money talks. As usual they are all penciling in championships 😂 I guess we should let them have their moment.

Psu needs some recruiting news for 2026
Jax , come on down

Nailed it.

And before anyone says that’s being salty, it’s literally how 99% of people would have played it. Likely too much to turn down.

Bo joins the Iowa lineup as a true freshman at 149 in 2026-27. Shayne is still wrestling at 149, or 157 and Marcus Blaze is at 149. So here is a question to ponder. At over/Under the percentage TnT will need to load manage Bo's schedule the night?

I am putting it at 83% give or take 17%.

They kinda had to look for out-of-state imports after losing their own top in-state prospect to OKST.

68 pages in, I don’t think Bo has posted once. Seems plenty are down for some drama to me….

He didn't post here but he posted everywhere else. I see him talk more than wrestle. He is the ONLY wrestler who I can I'd the whole clan and the interior of their house. I have actually been rooting against this kid for years. I want jax, not bo

Would not shock me one bit this is true. Not that Bo isn't GREAT. Just that it is what it is, the systemic advantages PSU has today will still be in place tomorrow.

I also don't believe that his actual recruitment, even in his own mind, is over tomorrow (and that is true even if he picks the good guys)
M
Between his work ethic and their style, I hope his body holds up.
odds are one of a few things will happen. Tnt drive his body into the ground….ie SL. Dissension in room And devour whats left of culure because of amount of money. Or similar bobby goes broke paying the current starters. They couldn't see forest thru trees. Great pick up if it didnt cost 5mil.

And I’m confused how he said he wrestles the Iowa style ....

He meant that in an NIL way.

Wrestling the Iowa style 😉:

This is not a knock on Bo. I like the way we (us fans and the PSU coaches) don’t put guys on pedestals (for expectations or results). Granted, we are usually spoiled with multiple guys achieving tremendous results. I appreciate that the attitude of our staff seems to trickle down to the fans. Way more of a focus on the process rather than making it all about the results. Maybe Bo would have been a great fit in that environment, maybe not. Either, we have a great situation. Nothing about that changed today.

How will Bo handle it when the info on the Nil package is exposed. I’ll take a shot, Coach Tom found a bag on the steps of the church with my name on and simply passed it on.

This was also so obviously the answer. He terminated his recruitment on the spot and announced 4d after the PSU-Iowa dual for what other possible reason?

Face of the program? Come on. If that were the reason, then there was no need to so abuptly rule out Michigan and Rutgers, and VT would've also been a viable choice.

Nope, there was one reason:

Bo’s could potentially make his Penn State vs. Iowa debut at a BJC dual meet in Feb 2027. That should be a dual meet no one wants to miss.
I just don’t feel the same animosity I did when Spencer went the other way.

Like to think it’s nil or just that these are essentially 1 year deals now, but it’s probably that I didn’t think in a million years we’d ever have a guy that could compete with Spencer. I just think Bo would have been a luxury but not a necessity.

Chief Rutgers insider claims to know Rutgers' and Iowa's offers but isn't divulging numbers except that Rutgers' was in 7 figures and not close to Iowa's.

Yeah, after all the garbage about changing a program, I could have bought into VT. But this ........

kinda a steaming pile.

I was told $4.5 mil. So I guess them saying $5 mil wasn't true wasn't a lie.
