Bassett to Iowa

Look I’m a Penn State fan through and through but I couldn’t fathom sitting through that Friday and picking the other side. But money talks.
I say the same thing when Ohio State beats Penn State on the field every Fall the other way. Of course sane people would rather be part of Ohio State football right now.

If DT was there im thinking it was OKst untill BN put 5 mil and a timeline ultimatum
He’s there for Jax He is going to put it all in on him

I feel that psu sits back and lets recruits go to them , unfortunately in todays social media way of doing things, some might want more attention

I'm so glad we got Blaze. Love how he goes about his business.

Edit... How do I not mention Duke too? Low key....all about handling business on the mat!

Wouldn’t go that far.

Like El Jefe said, loaded up so much that they don’t have to play games this cycle or 26 if they don’t want to.

Also, don’t rule out that this was just a simple process of resource allocation and the staff just believed it was better to use its biggest financiers to reward current guys and lure in the ones coming next year.

I'm actually happy he made this choice. No more excuses Iowa. This will ramp up expectations on him and our rivalry with Iowa. And while he will probably succeed personally (although it wouldn't surprise me if he withers there), I don't think this leads to a renaissance of Hawkeye wrestling. I'm confident whoever we slot in against him will do just fine. The kid has too many distractions now with more to follow.....good luck with that.

So the question is still the same: Where does he go weight wise next year? If he wants to be a 4 timer, I don't see any way unless he waits until 41 clears after Mendez. I don't think he can beat Mendez, Van Ness, or Kasak.

Anytime any wrestler chooses anywhere but Oklahoma State from here on out will be good news.

PS: for those of us who refuse to pay for these kind of ridiculous theatrics...when will we get to see the replay of him claiming this decision was driven by faith and not the bag of $5 million?

I believe Mendez will be gone by then.
SVN one year left, same with Kasak.

But he could have a real problem named PJ Duke.

I still would have taken him, but this whole thing seemed a bit much. Like LeBron and "The Decision" nearly 15 years ago.
It was always a luxury.

Now it does present a possible hole at 149 in 2 years but for some reason I trust the staff to figure that out.

Where does PJ Duke fit in?
I used him in my "what if" the other day. The Lorenzo room talent is great in quality and quantity.

If Bo had chosen PSU to take his next steps in rasslin development Bo would have won more than he is going to and I believe eventually earned more than the 5 mill hand out good old Bob is giving him.

No doubt Melvin and Keegan will follow. I'll let everyone know when the House 4 Sale sign goes up in their yard cuz the entire family is gonna book it to Iowa. Wonder where in Iowa City Bob set real estate aside for Bills new "Compound" ..
Again, that’s fine, most they’ll get out of all of that will be a team title or 2 over 5-6 years.

What worries me is Taylor building Cael 2.0.

I heard that in his NIL deal, there was a lifetime membership to AARP, a senior discount diners card, and vouchers for his first 3 surgeries.

The NIL will never be known, and it’s not fair to the kid to assume that is the only reason he’s going to Iowa. Rumors about screenshots? I doubt they ever surface, if such a conversation occurred.
I watched the Flo doc on him and Jax this summer, and the 5:00am workouts and grueling routine screams Iowa style. There were stories about the coaches kicking Suriano out of the weight room to prevent overtraining, you could replace Nick with Bo and I wouldn’t be surprised . It seems like the Compound’s philosophy doesn’t mesh well with PSU’s.

First part is not true at all. Cael has said that he recruits few athletes, but recruits those hard. If Cael "sits back and lets recruits go to him," then how exactly does he land so many elite guys?

The 2nd part is true, some might want more attention, also so what? It has barely affected PSU, and not at all on the mat. Besides, once past the initial reaction at commitment, has Bo Nickal suffered from lack of attention? Carter Starocci? RBY?

It’s fair to speculate why an athlete who decided to have the most social media conscious recruiting experience in history declared the Spring as his date he’d choose then out of nowhere moved it up to 48 hours away.

Again just stresses what I wrote earlier.

Penn State can be whatever you want it to be as a wrestler and there’s no reason not to go there and wrestle. Other than offers that can’t be refused.

And for all we know maybe Penn State made blaze that kind of offer a few months prior. But it’s also clearly the best place for him.

Bo joins the Iowa lineup as a true freshman at 149 in 2026-27. Shayne is still wrestling at 149, or 157 and Marcus Blaze is at 149. So here is a question to ponder. At over/Under the percentage TnT will need to load manage Bo's schedule the night?

I am putting it at 83% give or take 17%.
It will also depend which of our wrestlers is beating Nico in the room.
