Re: LARRY JOHNSON
One of my very good friends and class-mates from Erie Pa. has a son who played for Larry. He was the top player in Pa, when he graduated from high school. He had nothing but high praises and accolades for Larry and the contribution he made to PSU in identifying hidden talent and recruiting top Def. Lineman. Larry's Lineman were then, often, moved over to the offensive line to support the shortcomings that existed on that side of the ball. And, of course, Larry was, perhaps, the best Def. line coach in the country, for my money.
On that basis, I thought he really deserved to be named Head Coach at PSU. But, this controversial PSU Administration/Board actually got this one right, 2 times in a row - O'Brien & Franklin .!!! They knew that a lot of money, and the image of the University, depended on this choice.
One of my teachers used to often say, "good luck favors the well prepared."
Franklin may not be the greatest position or game day coach in the business, but he really understands the Game of Football, and is an organizational genius. His selection of Moorehead as Offensive Coordinator was absolutely brilliant..!!! Every man on his staff is a great recruiter. Having Moorehead on the sidelines is a major advantage in every game on our schedule.!!!
Let the games begin.....
