Biggest Rival?

Not sure rival is the right word but biggest games are generally 1. Ohio State. 2. Michigan. No real 'rival' in terms of Alabama vs Auburn rival.

Currently- no one officially. Personally I see it ranked as Ohio State, Michigan, and in 3rd place Pitt.

Gotcha that makes sense. Pitt fan here. Always put WVU/PSU 1a and 1b. Seems like Virginia Tech is our biggest game outside of those two.

I know the answer you want to hear but the correct answer here in 2017 will disappoint you. I'll turn the question around on you. Who is Pitt's biggest rival??

Pitt would be the rival if the game was every year but since it doesn't get played much anymore the Ohio St and Michigan games are much more important because of how they affect every season in terms of both conference and national standing.

Who is Penn State's biggest rival?
RUTGERS.

We don't have a true rival. We are chasing OSU but have not beaten them consistently enough for them to consider PSU a rival. There is mutual disdain between PSU and Michigan, but that does not rise to the level of a rivalry, either. Despite the fact that Ohio State OWNS Michigan, those two programs are rivals and nothing is going to displace that. Rutgers and Maryland fans hate PSU inordinately, so we kind of hate them back due to the vitriol and what from our perspective is a nastiness, a lack of class. Which in my view is the same as our relationship with Pitt.

I'm tired of the talk of rivalry between PSU and Pitt. There is intense dislike between the fan bases, but the programs themselves are not rivals. We've got these few games to play through 2019, and aside from folks born in Western PA before 1965, most Penn Staters are ready to be done with it. Most recognize that with a 9 game B1G schedule and the financial need for home games, home-and-home deals with Pitt just do not make sense. Quite honestly the whole thing is exhausting and not fun. Rivalries are based on respect, not whatever the hell this is between our fan bases.

Looking forward to what I hope and believe will be a thumping of Pitt by PSU, and then moving forward to the rest of the 2017 schedule. We'll have to go through Pitt week twice more and then, by god, let's be done with each other.

Living off a lucky win over an overrated OSU team. One decent win last year.

So a BIG championship means nothing? We GAVE the Rosebowl away you can clearly see us letting the pressure off the gas in the 4th quarter and basically forfeiting the game- I think that game is why JMFF states no game is over and why we had players in the end of 3rd last week

Not when the Big Ten continues to lay an egg on the national stage. Clearly the Big Ten had no business being in the College Football Playoff the past two years. Outscored 69-0.

35 years dumbass. 35 years.

Where's your witty sPiTt response to that?

Eh Rick?

And whom did SPITT lose to in their bowl game? Oh yeah. That's right.

And how has Pitt done in the CFP?

Hmmmm.... Must be the national champion at the top, the worst team in the country at the bottom, and every team in between is "average."

Pitt isn't at that level yet. Still a step behind the top of the ACC. OSU/UM/PSU would be at best the third team in the ACC.
Oh please...if you really think that than you're a moron. Don't let your hatred make you sound like a dumbass.

Yeah since OSU has been so great against the ACC....Urban Meyer 41-3 against the Big Ten. 1-3 against the ACC.

Pitt and Penn State have both been average recently.

You're losing it here. Currently Penn State is ranked #4. PSU finished 11-3 and #7 last year after the Rose Bowl. You try to dismiss it (in typical Pitt fashion) but you just look provincial and silly in not giving Penn State credit where deserved.

You then say Pitt "has been average recently". That's the understatement of the year. Pitt's been average since 1981. That's 35 years. In those 35 years pitt has only been ranked by the AP 6 times.

A little different when you have to play week in and week out as opposed to once in a year. Teams in conference get to know each other and play multiple times. Three years of the playoffs, Big 10 has one championship, SEC has one and ACC has one...sounds pretty even.

His definition of "recently" must be different than the rest of the English speaking world. Apparently the period of the past 12 months doesn't meet his definition.

I guess a 3 loss season and 39 point loss is considered a great season?

Let us know when Pitt has a 3 loss season. A conference championship is a great season...again, something Pitt knows nothing about. You're really looking foolish here.
