Can anyone sum up the semis by weight for the psu guys (who they are facing )
Not a lot of tough competition for most of the guys. You can look at it for free in FloArena. For me the best matchups are LL v McHenry and Barr v Little Mirasola

125 Semi-Final - Luke Lilledahl vs. Kurt McHenry
141 Semi-Final - Beau Bartlett vs. Rich Treanor (ARMY)

157 Semi-Final - Tyler Kasak vs. Dakota Morris (ARMY)
157 Semi-Final - Alex Facundo vs. Drew Pepin (Gardner-Webb)

I would have hoped for a bit more improvement from Steen with all his time in the room, but it appears it is what it is.
I think this is a bit unfair.

If he's at 125, he would be in the mix to qualify, which is decent for the type of recruit he was coming out.

Now he's up a weight. Probably because he knows he has no shot at taking the mat for us at 125, so why make the hard cut.

He'll have his hands full with Garcia who is pretty darn good.

Let's not put PSU expectations in these guys who walked on here taking their shot. They're probably good enough to be starters at mid-majors which is not an easy feat. Lots of PA state champs in that category.

125 Semi-Final - Luke Lilledahl vs. Kurt McHenry

Period 1:
Looks like we'll have Nick & Cael in one corner and Cody & Casey in the other. Time for some PSU on PSU crime. Here we go. Circling & tying up. McHenry has a very low stance. Luke half shot, nothing & back to the tie up. Stoppage for something, restart. Caution McHenry, false start. Circling & hand fighting in the center. Luke snaps & reaches for a leg, but no luck. Back to the tie up. Luke pushing forward & they're both on their knees now. Back to the feet & more circling. Luke snaps, nothing. McHenry comes forward a little, but then they're back to center circling. McHenry with a half shot, nothing. Luke reaches for a leg, nothing. Luke pushing forward. Caution McHenry for fingers, restart. Tying up, Luke with an ankle pick, working for the TD, but McHenry fights out of it & they're back to neutral. Wow! That was a slick ankle pick, but McHenry just powered out of it. Circling & tying up & hand fighting & that's how it ends. 0-0.

Period 2:
McHenry takes down. Caution McHenry, false start. Luke riding, McHenry sits out, they're on their feet & Luke drives him out, restart. McHenry still down, McHenry to his feet, but Luke brings him back to the mat. McHenry breaks free during tthat exchange & gets the escape, 1-0. Circling & McHenry seems to injure a foot, but then he's back at it. McHenry shoots from way out, nothing. Luke with a throw-by, nothing & they're on their knees, stalemate, restart. Circling, then tying up & breaking. Luke snaps, nothing; McHenry seems hesitant to hand fight now & is keeping his hand back, so Luke can't grab it. That's how the period ends. 1-0 McHenry, Luke +17-sec RT.

Period 3:
Luke takes down, and there is a long delay for some reason, Luke sits out, gets to his feet & gets the escape, 1-1. Circling, Luke is coming forward, he shoots, McHenry fights it off. Luke in on another shot & gets the TD on the edge, 4-1, restart. McHenry down, gets to his feet & gets the escape, 4-2. Circling & tying up. McHenry's shoe is untied now. Tying up & stoppage for the shoe or something else. McHenry is talking to the ref about something as he re-ties his shoe. I'm not sure what's going on. The ref is kneeling down talking to McHenry as he re-ties his show. It's 5-2 Luke now, so Luke got another point for something. McHenry having issues with his foot & is slow getting back to center. Circling, McHenry shoots from way out & again, nothing. They tie-up & Luke throws McHenry to his back or McHenry tries a throw & Luke comes out on top. I didn't see what actually happened, but Luke gets another TD, 8-2. Luke rides out the period & picks up the decision.

Luke Lilledahl DEC Kurt McHenry 8-2

Yeah that's probably an emotional reaction by me. My bad. Just was hoping for something not really possible. He has improved though in his time here.

Ref was very charitable to McHenry on that yolo throw. I counted 3 easily. But he looks super tough. Makes sense. Kurt was one of the fastest HS kids I ever saw.
Didn't matter and our coaches obviously weren't going to challenge on their own guy when it's already 8-2 but I thought Luke's posed in an upper body situation was fantastic as well.

I remain skeptical of ALL reports of what happens in our room. Cael has an iron grip on that info and I wouldn’t want to be the guy who crosses him.
I remain skeptical of ALL reports of what happens in ANY room.

Iowa reports are notoriously bullish (e.g. Teasdale destroying everyone except Spencer, Grothus looking like a finalist, etc)

@smalls103 said on one of his shows, every off season he hears "this kid is jumping levels", "this kid is going to be unstoppable" based on room reports and they're basically always bogus. It's when a coach is humbly confident about his kids when it's something there. He mentioned that about Nasir Bailey, he said Erisman said "I think we have something here, we'll see"

Basically the humble confidence Cael usually talks about his guys (they enjoy the sport and are learning)
