Bob Jubelirer just posted to his FB page inre Lubert . . .

Kinda knew Ira was going to add another alumni elected trustee to the Executive Committee and I'm not at all surprised that it's Al Lord. I'll just leave it at that. LOL.

In the the last communication I had with him he said: "I hope I can live up to your expectations".You all know I'm a move on guy so you can read into his statement whatever you want. I also think you guys are reading waaaay to much into this unanimous vote thingy. Ira is going to do what he thinks is best for PSU and a unanimous nod isn't going to change that.
Do you try to be an anus or does it come naturally?

Nice, in the first half of your sentence you agree that your conclusions are illogical based on Jubelirer's very own statements both before and after the meeting, and then in the second half of your post you ask a rhetorical question which you yourself have already answered in the first half of your question and agreed that your "that's the way I took it" is nothing more than pure illogical, agenda-based spin and hyperbole posed as an opinion with some form of basis....

In other words nimrod, you've already answered your rhetorical question in the second-half of your response with the statement in your first-half of the response -- why do I qualify your: "and took it as though there is new info relative to the JS mess. I read this to mean, that he learned some new things about Ira....that's the way I took it" as unadulterated, illogical, agenda-driven PR spin and hyperbole (e.g., rhetoric) posed as well-reasoned, genuine "opinion"? Probably for the very same reasons that you admit that this is precisely what it is in the first half of your response! LMFAO, why are you asking me rhetorical questions that you have already answered yourself and clearly are not genuine "questions" on your part whatsoever. Nice try though Mr. Edelman!
Who is mr Edelman?? Sorry I don't get it.

Let me guess. In your usual "suck up" fashion, you sent an email to Ira congratulating him on his unanimous election as BOT Chair. Ira Lubert has no idea (or care) who you are, but he had his Executive Asst respond in kind to all of the "well-wishers" with the same blanket response "I hope I can live up to your expectations".

You've been played (which isn't difficult)

Pa. Law basically permits public board closed sessions for discussions of personnel, property transactions or legal matters. The state's public boards have figured out ways to shoehorn most of their discussions into those categories.
I'm new at responding and probably naive, but why does a public tax payer funded institution have private executive meetings

66: You frequently post to stir things up, but I can't find a lot to take issue with in the above post. I know you're a "move on" guy and I disagree with you there, but that's a given, and nothing new.

Frankly, I don't expect much information from anyone who was in that Executive Session. Perhaps Marshall23 is right, and they're giving a truce a chance. Much as I would like to see it happen, I certainly don't expect apologies from the OGBOT, but there are other constructive steps they could take, and I hope to see some soon.

It just sounds like a route for shenanigans

I'm going to assume some stooges from Old Main/PR are lurking here to see what the cranky, football crazed malcontents have to say about all this. I know damned well you stooges are monitoring the A9's social media...so here goes.

Ira Lubert, who is now The Most Powerful Man at Penn State - can fix 90% of the mess in under 30 minutes. It's easy.

Hold a press conference with the national media and do the following:
1. REFUTE the Freeh Report and ask for a REFUND
2. APOLOGIZE to the Paterno Family
3. DEMAND AN APOLOGY from the Sports Media
4. Demand a FULL INVESTIGATION into Second Mile & Centre County CYS & Pa DPW/DHS
5. APOLOGIZE to the others harmed in this Harrisburg-manufactured & driven crisis - Spanier, Curley, Schultz, McQueary and others.
6. EXCORIATE Tom Corbett's Office of Attorney General, Frank Fina & the Harrisburg Patriot-News.
7. RESTORE the Player's Wall & APOLOGIZE to those Lettermen.

Bonus Points if you hammer Cynthia Baldwin for her conduct and revoke Sara Ganim's diploma.

Or he can put one of the A9 on the exec board and they can scamper away like little puppies. Which do you think he'll do?

I would have made that #3. :D

and I'll say the this to the doubters . . . throw your hat in the ring if you think you can do a better job. I may not agree with the decision 100% that the A9 made, but they are still in it.

Well until now the PS4S was all that was needed to get elected. Probably will still be that way but I'll tell you this if Dem or Bagwell were part of A9 I wonder if they would have been rolled as easily.

If Lubert wants us to believe that he had no idea that Sandusky was a pedophile despite Lubert's association with The Second Mile, then he needs to stand up and state the obvious: no one at Penn State knew. Not Paterno, not Curley, not Schultz, and not Spanier. No member of the football staff.

He needs to say that Louis Freeh delivered a report that was dictated to him by Tom Corbett and Ron Tomalis, and Penn State will be suing all of them. Throw in Peetz and Erickson as defendants, for good measure.

Great point. Almost impossible to believe the football guys knew but Ira didn't. In fact not almost.

I am simply saying that his words do not match his last four years worth of actions. I can't point to a single time when he sided with the good guys publicly when he has had opportunity after opportunity to do so. If you can point to such an event, I would be happy to be reminded of it.

I'll preface this by saying that I'm not a friend of Lubert. Putting his pal Joyner in as AD stunk to high heaven. His involvement with TSM reeks.

But... it wasn't public, but discovery in one of the ongoing lawsuits did turn up the email in which he was livid over Erickson accepting the consent decree without involving the entire board in the decision. He said (rightly) that Erickson did not have the authority to do that. This is something that a lot of us have been saying. Erickson absolutely was not empowered to spend $60mn without the Board's approval. But Lubert shouldn't have just objected privately. He should have taken it public.

You don't know that. Lubrano has not been a pushover. There must be something afoot.

They all hide behind the absurdity that everything they discuss has to be held in secret. The reason that nobody trusts them is simply this. They act like their "rules" are sacred, and more important than anything else- they are not.

It is rather ironic that the very institution they are running should be a beacon for truth, transparency
and open debate and they insist on doing things in private.

You know i would like to think that but Anthony just spent the last 6 weeks bashing Lubert. I simply can't imagine what could be afoot that would cause him to make such a full throated endorsement as he did.

He rolled on the Corman/NCAA settlement which short-circuited a judge's push for the truth. To Lubrano's credit, he has owned up to that mistake. But he has rolled before.

Something does not seem right. I think Lubert would like to get rid of the alumni elected trustees. Something happened in that meeting - enough for the 9 elected trustees to fall in line. We know Ira's past dealings - suddenly he has changed? Jubelier rarely posts - and when he does he has something to say - now posting a message supporting Ira Lubert. Lord apparently has immunity with Ira's blessing of him being appointed to Exec. We'll see about the rest.

He not only said he had good answers to tough questions - he also said Candidate Lubert provided EXTREMELY IMPORTANT INFORMATION that Mr. Jubelirer DID NOT KNOW PRIOR TO CANDIDATE LUBERT'S ANSWERS IN EXECUTIVE SESSION!!

People on this Board need to calm down as this is a SIGNIFICANT DEVELOPMENT as characterized by Mr. Jubelirer (and Mr. Labrano before him) - the A9 Trustees are not supposed to act as a PA Court, hold a trial in regards to Mr. Lubert and be the Judge, Jury and Executioner in regards to the validity of the MATERIAL responses and information provided by Candidate Lubert to MATERIAL QUESTIONS regarding Fiduciary Obligation and COIs. To the extent that Candidate Lubert provided MATERIAL ANSWERS that satisfied the MATERIAL QUESTIONS of the A9 Trustees, but all of Candidate Lubert's material responses were LIES, FABRICATIONS and INTENTIONALLY MISLEADING EXPLANATIONS, well that is on Candidate Lubert and nobody else.....and ultimately it is a clear issue that the OAG of PA must look into in regards to dereliction of Fiduciary Obligation at a PA-registered NPO (a legal matter that clearly falls under the jurisdiction and purview of the Attorney General's Office in Pennsylvania) - let alone the State-Founded and Dedicated Flagship Land-Grant Public Universtiy of the State!!

To the extent that the NEW MATERIAL INFORMATION provided by Candidate Lubert is true OR false, it is a significant development as the heretofore unknown MATERIAL INFORMATION is now known if TRUE OR now Chairman Lubert has further painted himself into a corner if FALSE.

And you really believe the PA OAG is going to care if Ira lied or mislead a few alumni reps? They are part of the backstory more than anyone else. Who knows how many of them are benefitting from Joe and PSU taking the heat over their mis-management of the situation. There is nothing short of the FBI that will bring Ira down.

Ok - I don't recall any posts of theirs hinting at something similar. Bushwood is one of the few people I ignore here, but I did take a peek at the post you quoted.

You're missing such pageantry and elegance. Seriously, I love the guy's posts, even when they are directed at me. Not only that, he seems to do his homework on the bot.

Franklin Restores ... , I never thought I'd see the day that you would step forward and hold firm as a pillar of calm, a beacon of welcome light, and refuge from the storm. Your call for the restoration of order and stolid rational analysis, while others convulse in the throes of a puzzling and emotional situation, does you and this Board great service. Now that you've come full circle my time is done here. Farewell.

There are times I think he is dating austinnit's girlfriend.

It has been a week since our Board meeting was held on the campus of Penn State Wilkes-Barre. Leading up to that meeting I had every intention of either abstaining or voting against Ira Lubert, the only candidate for Chairman of the Board to succeed Keith Masser. I have known Ira for some years before I was elected as an alumni trustee two years ago. He had disappointed me in the past by not standing up with those of us who have been working very hard to learn the truth behind the Sandusky scandal and the charges against Graham Spanier, Tim Curley, Gary Schultz and of course, the dismissal of legendary head football Coach Joe Paterno. Like my other colleagues elected by the alumni, I have worked hard reviewing the Freeh Report, the vehicle that was used by the NCAA to sanction the University. Later Louis Freeh said that his conclusion in many areas was only his opinion. Wow!

I had the opportunity in Executive Session to ask candidate (the only one for Chairman) Lubert many questions about the past as well as the future. It was in the Executive Session that all trustees had the opportunity to ask questions of the candidates. I asked Ira some pretty tough questions so I could cast a fair and intelligent vote. I learned things I was unaware of from his responses. He convinced the nine of us that he would be a fair, impartial and inclusive Chairman. Now it is time to use the power he now has to be inclusive. I was very pleased to see his very first action as Chairman was to appoint Alumni Trustee Al Lord to the Executive Committee, an excellent choice. I hope that is just the beginning of bringing members of our talented alumni contingent into influential positions. There is much we can accomplish if he uses the power we helped give him for the good of Penn State and not just a chosen few. It is hard to believe, but there are only five "old guard" members of the Board left who voted to fire Joe and began spilling political blood on November 9, 2011.

Time will answer all questions. Chairman Lubert has a tremendous opportunity to make change. I wish him well and will be watching to see if my faith in him was justified. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or suggestions you have.

Bob
What a jackass. Thanks PS4RS!!!
