BoB or Franklin, who's better?

This thread is meant to do nothing than to sow discord.

I appreciate JoePa, Bill O'Brien and James Franklin. They all had a hand in getting the PSU football squad to where it is now. They were all positive influences here. People who want to bitch, moan and demonize one, or try to hold up one as holy, and belittle the others, or hold grudges ... those are sad, little people.
I agree except for 2 things:
  1. BOB stayed with the Patriots while players were transferring and the recruiting class was falling apart. Good for the Patriots but a disservice to PSU.
  2. BOB justified #1 by saying PSU hired a coach for 5+ years, not just a couple months. He also promised recruits that he intended to see them through their 4 years. That was a lie. He wanted an NFL job and was using PSU as a stepping stone. He left at his first opportunity

Notice those players didn't complain. O'Brien always picked his words careful. He always talked about "his plan" and we all know "plans change". Hack was the one he hurt the most and Hack never once said a negative word about it. 19 and 20 year olds understood this better than grown men.

Saban never had a losing season
Smart's never had a losing season
Meyer never had a losing season
Stoops never had a losing season
Osborne never had a losing season
Riley never had a losing season

Do you want more names or..
Dolphins, Dip$hit. Oh I know but, but, but.

Because at Penn State, coaches are expected to stay for life. Otherwise they are quitters.

Absolutely no valid reason to leave. We are the best of everything. Hell, we invented football.
Congratulations! 5, count them, 5 logical fallacies in a 5 sentence post. That’s Olympic effort right there. Well done!

Look, kids ... a Joebot in the wild! Notice the wrinkly skin, the frown and the look of bewilderment as he shouts at passersby to get off JoePa's lawn. Wait, notice that frown turning upside down on the Joebot as he, yet again, reminisces about JoePa's jock strap.
High achieving people recognize and admire greatness. Lower tier people like you mock, criticize and try to tear down those people out of jealousy, inferiority and a realization that you will never measure up. Carry on, Champ.

Comparing across generations the head coach position is completely different. As many have stated, it is now more like a ceo than a coach with 24/7 365 responsibilities to recruit and even fundraise. You even need to recruit your own roster to keep them from leaving to the highest bidder. You also have to ensure the team is prepared logistically and schematically to compete across the country in what is now a national conference. Franklin is a much better ceo. I would certainly take Franklin as head coach and Bob as offensive coordinator though!

Bad losses--when did the sanctions come down? When did kids leave? Pretending that nothing was happening then is absurd
What are your excuses for Paterno's countless failures and unacceptable loses well into his tenure? Or do you admit Paterno needed to retire around 2001 and essentially destroyed the program by staying?
I have said repeatedly that Paterno should have retired 10 to 15 years sooner but that has nothing to do with how he was scapegoated about Sandusky.

What the hell does whether the players complained have to do with O’Brien’s deception about leaving. Obviously, they were more mature about things than him. Recall that O’Brien intended to select a date by which all players had to declare if they were staying or going and Michael Mauti and Michael Zordich talked him out of it saying it would be counter productive.

You have a different philosophy than me. I think people should honor their promises/commitments.

So, you agree, but then completely disagree.

Put down the Fruity Pebbles box and join us in the reality where normal folks don't hero worship other folks, and attempt to present their hero worship as you have above. It's sad. The lowly masses, such as yourself, shouldn't try to demonize or deify folks who actually accomplish something in their lives. I'm sorry you need to look up to these people to find some meaning in your own life, and to live vicariously through them. Self-actualized folks don't need that. But you do. Maybe you'll figure that out when you get to the graduate level cereal boxes, like Honey Nut Cheerios. Actual high-achieving people aren't hero worshippers ... they understand fellow high-achievers are just dudes and dudettes, like themselves. They also would never randomly shout out that they had an accounting degree from a state university as a random attempt to validate themselves in the face of getting some unrelated issue completely wrong. You poor thing.

They were more mature than the fans. There was no deception. He always picked his words carefully.

Again there was never a promise. He always said he planned to. We all knew that meant he was leaving. His plans changed. That happens.

I didn't like O'Brien the person or the coach. Calling McGloin a walk-on starter while true is misleading. Coming into his senior year he was the starter. He had over 400 passing attempts as well so he was also experienced. The 2012 team was a good team poised to win. I really believe if the prior staff was left in place that team only loses 1-game.

That 2012 was not devoid of talent.

He came to PSU because he was losing his job in New England with McDaniel returning. His NFL career as a head coach is interesting to say the least. He was fortunate to win division titles by going 9-7 until he got Watson and then took off for two years. He was likely over his head as the everything man of the franchise.

How he does at BC will be interesting to watch. He does seem to be the most successful Belicheck branch by far.

Another stupid thesis that no one will read. Why waste your time? #stalker
