Interestingly, both teams are 20-12, 11-10. Devil is in the details (NET, etc,), I guess. Why shouldn't PSU be seeded higher than Illinois? Same number of wins, we beat them 3 straight, and we've won 6 of 7.

The two being over UCLA and Texas, away from home, will carry a lot of weight (and the fact they have one total loss outside of Q1). They’ve got a very good resume. Why shouldn't PSU be seeded higher than Illinois? Same number of wins, we beat them 3 straight, and we've won 6 of 7.
ILL has 2 quad 1 wins. PSU has 6. We should be seeded higher than Rutgers too assuming they lose to Purdue.
I was the only one not freaking out. They won a game they needed to. The refs were irrelevant as officiating almost always is.GO AWAy you putz… Penn State won there is nothing left for your sorry ass to see here. EVERYONE SEES THROUGH YOUR ACT… GO AWAY!!!
I understand but same record, 6 quad 1 wins vs 2 quad 1 wins, and 3-0 head to head seems pretty clear to me.The two being over UCLA and Texas, away from home, will carry a lot of weight (and the fact they have one total loss outside of Q1). They’ve got a very good resume.
Our quad 1 wins are lower level ones…not all of them are created equal, and they’ve got those two huge ones (plus nothing close to a bad loss).I understand but same record, 6 quad 1 wins vs 2 quad 1 wins, and 3-0 head to head seems pretty clear to me.
I understand but 6>2Our quad 1 wins are lower level ones…not all of them are created equal, and they’ve got those two huge ones (plus nothing close to a bad loss).
We were projected 11 BEFORE beating Illinoiswell now we are safely in the tournament whatever happens tomorrow
probably a 10 or 11 seed
yeah so we might move up to 10We were projected 11 BEFORE beating Illinois
UCLA is way overrated….we will see that in the NCAA tournament. The two being over UCLA and Texas, away from home, will carry a lot of weight (and the fact they have one total loss outside of Q1). They’ve got a very good resume.
I went and read the Illinois board….they were even saying PSU was getting screwed all game. When the message board posters of the other team see it, you know it’s bad.You all whine way too much about the officiating. It was a game and a much needed win. Stop crying for 5 minutes.
And that’s only one piece of the puzzle. Especially when there is a lot of info to gather behind the “6” and the “2”.I understand but 6>2
They are at worst a 2 seed, and possibly a 1…that win carries a lot of weight regardless of what you think about their chances.UCLA is way overrated….we will see that in the NCAA tournament.
You weren’t freaking out because you didn’t care who wonI was the only one not freaking out. They won a game they needed to. The refs were irrelevant as officiating almost always is.
Calls are missed all the time--it's simply part of the gameI went and read the Illinois board….they were even saying PSU was getting screwed all game. When the message board posters of the other team see it, you know it’s bad.
The only benefit of Penn State losing today would have been proving someone wrong--much happier they won.You weren’t freaking out because you didn’t care who won
The main downfall of this system they use is putting too much emphasis on one or two games…especially in the case when one of those wins comes over a team that plays in a terrible conference. They are at worst a 2 seed, and possibly a 1…that win carries a lot of weight regardless of what you think about their chances.
Have you ever played or coached a minute of basketball? Apparently not. Officiating is always relevant. How they’re calling the game determines how you play the game and how you coach the game.I was the only one not freaking out. They won a game they needed to. The refs were irrelevant as officiating almost always is.
It is not a missed call…it is deliberate…you will know for sure when there are video reviews…the call is obviously in favor for Penn State - yet the final call still goes against us. Been going on in all sports since 1993.I’ve seen a lot of bad calls this year, but nothing compared to the out of bounds call. They said it went off a Penn State player’s fingertip and there wasn’t a PSU player’s hand even in the air. No excuse for that call.
And Coach ShrewsThis team is just so likable....Micah, Wynter, Dread, Pickett, Lundy, etc. They all represent our university well.
It ain’t rocket science ladies and gentlemen…there are literally dozens of brazen examples since joining the Big10…and it is not stopping…go back and watch the game against Indiana a few years back when PSU was called for a foul on a a PSU breakaway where Indiana should have received a flagrant foul. ESPN did a 30 minute show about how unbelievably bad that call was.I went and read the Illinois board….they were even saying PSU was getting screwed all game. When the message board posters of the other team see it, you know it’s bad.
Right and you adapt/adjust...failure to do so is on the players and coaches. You realize you're proving my point.Have you ever played or coached a minute of basketball? Apparently not. Officiating is always relevant. How they’re calling the game determines how you play the game and how you coach the game.
3-0 head to head should definitely trump that. Our quad 1 wins are lower level ones…not all of them are created equal, and they’ve got those two huge ones (plus nothing close to a bad loss).
We’re a 10 in the first two brackets I’ve seen this morning.Win tonight an I would hope PSu can get to a 10 seed. Playing a 7 and then a 2 is a path I think they can work with.
Yes but I think a win tonight guarantees it, a loss might not. We’re a 10 in the first two brackets I’ve seen this morning.
Id be great with a non-Dayton 11 too…avoid Dayton, and ideally avoid an 8/9 slot.Yes but I think a win tonight guarantees it, a loss might not.
Pickett was the key again. Was very close, he was struggling….his shots were all short….including FTs. Five or six minutes left he cranks it up a notch and took over the game. Like he has done so many times. The guy is a true warrior. If he doesn’t make the NBA he should join the NFL as a middle linebacker as he has the size, great speed and footwork, and most of all the middle linebacker mentality. Some keys to the game…
10 turnovers, when I believe we were at 8 early in the second half…really handled the pressure down the stretch.
22 free throws…for all of the complaints on the refs (I thought they had a solid game in a very tough one to officiate), we got to the line more than we have in several months
10 offensive rebounds (vs 11 for Illinois)…after the way it started, never expected us to hold our own like we did
I thought you said the refs were almost always irrelevant? then why would you need to adapt/adjust if they are almost always irrelevant? Maybe just maybe they do influence the outcome of games once in a while - ya think?Right and you adapt/adjust...failure to do so is on the players and coaches. You realize you're proving my point.
You've also yet to acknowledge you were wrong when you said I was the only one that mentioned a conspiracy but why would you ever own something.
I don't think so. They play hard and are pretty physical. Cronin's coaching style.UCLA is way overrated….we will see that in the NCAA tournament.
Yeah I wouldn't go WAY overrated, maybe some though. I do think the toughness factor makes them win a lot more in the PAC but is negated some against Big and SEC teams if they have to play themI don't think so. They play hard and are pretty physical. Cronin's coaching style.
They have lost Jaylen Clark, Pac 12 defensive player of the year. That hurts and not sure they can overcome it. They have Jacquez Jr. and Tyger Campbell which is a great duo and two of the best players in the country as well as other talent. Cronin is an excellent coach. They will do some damage in the tournament.UCLA would likely be favored over all but one team in the country if they played them on a neutral court today.
I guess because Texas and UCLA are so highly ranked that the Quad 1 wins they have vs both of them counts like 3 quad 1 wins for them or whatever. I agree, we beat them 3 times and have the same record. If this was football we would be higher ranked than them.Nothing against Illinois per se, but their last Q1 win was in early Dec against Texas. For comparison's sake against them, who are widely regarded to walk to a 8/9 game, we are hot at the end of the year and championship week. This used to mean something to the committee. Guess not anymore especially when you're us.
