I think the rationale for dropping Clemson and scUM now is that they have plenty of justification for raising them back up over teams in front of them if they win out...for instance, if scUM wins out and beats daO$U, they're heading straight to #2 and will stay there assuming they win CCG (obviously daO$U drops to bottom of Top 10 in that event). This would also set up a situation where Clemson is raised to #3 if they control their own destination and win out including ACC Championship Game......and U-dub into the #4 Seed if U-dub won out including Pac12 CCG.....and Louisville, Wisconsin and PSU end up in some combination of 5, 6 & 7. However, if scUM loses to daO$U, this sets up a situation where they already have both PSU and Wisconsin right there prior to the B1G Conference Championship Game setting up a situation where the B1G would likely get both the B1G Champion & daO$U in......and the Pac12 Champ would likely be the odd man out.
