Much of what you stated is true. Another way to look at it is the last time Iowa won back to back national championships was 2008 through 2010, that was 12 years ago. The typical high school senior was 6 years old at the time and has not recollection of that. The high school wrestlers today when they think of college wrestling, all they know is PENN STATE.
Don't put words into the post that aren't there. That's part of the problem with message boards. I never said you weren't passionate prior to Cael.
If I was one of those Iowa fans with thin skin, I'd tell you to piss off and fly away.

A lot of kids today go where there is an opportunity to start as soon as possible. I think it’s clear by now (results) that the only current PA prep on your team that would possibly have started here right away was SL and the battle with Suriano at that point in time would have been “fun”
We can't seem to own it when our own fans behave badly. We all know the culprits from the other side, at least those from HR.
It's not the idea that our fan base has always been passionate about wrestling, we have been. I see it first hand, more than most, and believe that overall our fan base is the best in the country, bar none.
Again (I said it in another post), it's a few folks using the last 11 years results to all of a sudden go full-bravado and over-the-line. That is new.

That PSUFLY guy read a post I made and twisted it to make it sound like something it wasn't. If everyone just took a breath, maybe slowed down, and re-read stuff and tried to put it in context to the overall conversation, these places would be much more tolerable than they are most of the time. Its not hard. You just have to make a conscience effort to do it.
I think its an age thing. When I was younger, I probably did the same thing without really realizing it.

I think Mike Z seems fairly reasonable, overall. He has confronted many of the Iowa zealots on his own board. Could he ban a few more of his own whackos for some of the stuff they post? Perhaps, but it is their board, so there is some more leniency, which is understandable.
I think the main issue is that Iowa fans were quite spoiled as Iowa dominated the sport for decades. Their fall from grace to continuously being b**** slapped by Penn State (with the lone exception of last year) over the last 11 years or so has been a hard pill to swallow. Their arrogance has turned to bitterness, sometimes paranoia and a pathetic victim complex, which are all often expressed in a classless manner. Now they lose Spencer and they are staring down a mass exodus of all their vets which likely leads to another very long championship drought, especially given our lineup and tOSU's recent recruiting class. It's a pretty grim forecast, and many are having trouble handling the truth.
I admit, I enjoy some Schadenfraude in reading HR when they lose at NCAAs and I will enjoy it again this year very much!

We are losing a senior laden team, but Iowa's recruiting hasn't been exactly poor. I'll be interested to see how next year goes, for sure. Probably won't be our best year.....
I like 99% of the stuff our boards resident Iowa fans post.. .05% I dont like because its the truth and I don't like it sometimes. The last .05% is nonsense which is from the fly bys or in response to something stupid that was said.

I agree with your first sentence for the most part. It’s the passive / aggressive stuff that I take issue with.
I don't understand. None of that except the "10-year" thing is in this thread, and it's the least divisive. Guilt by association means all of us are guilty of many things, not something fair to the solid fans that exist on both sides. And I sorta, kinda see the "10-year" point, as that's the bravado period for a few of our fans.

Not at all. I'm a huge Cali_Nittany fan. I'll never, ever forget one exchange (actually on another forum) from at least 5 years ago that still warms the cockles of my heart. The edginess was just a surprise.
The new board has very few posters but feels less like a sandbox filled with brats.

At the end of the conversation, 4 championships in the past 2 plus decades. Iowa has not been the Iowa that Hawkeye fans envision in more than 20 years. That isn't a spin, it just is.
As far as Iowa having a say in whether or not PSU adds to the total. Iowa hasn't really had a say in the past 10 NCAAs. They haven't been a major worry in any of the 8 PSU has claimed. Iowa did take one from Penn State last year, and Iowa will probably be the main concern this year. For the 3 years after this I will surprised if Iowa is the main concern. So you can tell me Iowa will have a say in whether or not PSU gains any more as we move forward, but during PSU's run Iowa with 1 big exception has been mostly an afterthought.

I don’t think you’d dispute that PA has the best, richest wrestling history in the U.S. As of 2022, 11 of the 78 D1 programs are PA schools. (Iowa has 3.). What would be even more interesting would be to research the number of D2 and D3 programs.
Much like what Gable did for Iowa, Sanderson has centralized the PA wrestling fan base. But the passion, statewide, was always there.
The other point to make about all of this is that of the three schools you identify as being historically great in wrestling, only Penn State hasn’t been sanctioned by the NCAA for violations in their wrestling program.

The only one I ever had a problem with is the first one… which was under the username I’m using now. Never broke any rules but the crew over there didn’t like that someone there was challenging them that our program cheats, that our student athletes and their parents take payments, that our athletes use steroids etc. etc. They hate that I call them out so they start bombarding you and the other mods to get rid of me which is what eventually happened. I’m notbthe only one they complain about, there are others that go there to challenge their idiocy so they cry and whine to you to ban them until it’s done. I mean you know all this, it was the reason for you starting that thread a few years ago calling them out for being a bunch of bellyachers which btw was spot on.
Look, it’s their board, I get that but they are crazy if they think a Penn State fan isn’t going to come there and challenge them when they disparage our school, athletes and their families. Anyway, have huge respect for the Iowa program and the kids that wrestle there. Their fans I’m not too particularly fond of but I’ve never gone there to make personal insults or even physical threats like they do to me…only to set the record straight and to make them look like fools and crybabies when they whine that PSU cheats or our wrestlers take steroids to win. Like I said though, it’s not my board but I think the rules should apply to everyone just the same. Yeah, thanks for hearing me out. Stop in any time. Well so far i havnt been banned but i really havnt posted much at all in awhile. No real chance of having posts of wrestling content, at least real content, over there unless your praising brands, sniffing lee’s jock or blind to anything other than whats black and gold. I’m a fan of wrestling love PSU but like all of wrestling (folkstyle), watch any team that i can when on tv or streaming as much as i can. Huge fan of HS wrestling and watched every Iowa PA kid wrestle.
