Cael knows wrestling. Big match Friday at 6pm vs UM (Match updates - PSU wins 27-9)

Out to dinner cancelled due to snow and bad roads.

Match began at 157 where Haines took care of business and the UM wrestler got stall calls.

At 165 Mesenbrink ranked #9 looked like an NCAA finalist as he relentlessly stalked the #6 Amine. Messenbrink chased Amine all over the matt and took his shots and got 4 stall calls on Amine good for 3 points and ended up with a Major Dec. Messenbrink should move up considerably in the rankins after this weekend.

At 174 PSU's Barraclough, unranked, against the #4 Griffith and battled to a scoreless 1st period. But in the 2nd Barraclaugh was doing well on top when Griffith executed a reversal after Barraclaugh accumulated enough riding time to get that point but Barraclaugh couldn't get a take down in the 3rd and lost the match 2-1

At 184 #5 Truax against #15 Bullock. (Starocci not wrestling) Each wrestler had a near take down in the 2nd that were ruled out of boundsand Truax managed to get a take down in the 3rd to win 4-1. Team score 10-3 PSU at that point.

At 197 #1 Brooks came out firing against #32 Striggow. In the 2nd Brooks looked like Ruth out there taking down Striggow and letting him go time after time until he got the Tech Fall. Bonus point machine.....

PSU leading 15-3 at intermission.

At Heavyweight #1 Greg Kerkvliet vs #4 Lucas Davison. Kirkvliet got a take down in the 1st and dominated a lower scoring match to win 9-3. PSU ahead 18-3 at this point.

At 125 it was PSU's #14 Braedon Davis against #5 DeAugustino. An even match but Davis had build up riding top in the 2nd. and then somehow managed to get out with .59 riding time remaining. But PSU challenged the riding time and it was corrected to 1:00 even. So DeAugustina knew he needed a takedown in the remainder of the 3rd and opened himself up to a take down by Davis near the end of the match, with Davis winning 5-1. PSU 21-3.

At 133 it was #4 Aaron Nagao vs #6 Dlylan Ragusin. Lots of early action, with Nagao getting a take down but gave up a quick escape. And then Ragusin with a take down and Nagao with the escape to finish the 1st 4-4. Michigans 1st take down of the match. PSU challenged for a reversal at the end of the 2nd but after review it was determined no reversal. Basically even to start the 3rd with Nagao up 5-4 but Ragusn with 1:51 riding time. Match went into sudden victory. But shortly into extra time Nagao with a shot that ended up with Ragusin getting a pin. Nagao will learn from this and be a better wrestler for it. PSU up 21-9.

At 141 PSU's #2 Beau Bartlett vs #25 Sergio Lemley. Bartlett with a take down and ride out in the 1st. Bartlett with an escape in the 2nd after Lemley worked down some of the riding time. Lemley with a takedown in the 3rd but Bartlett got a reversal and a locked hands call and no further scoring Bartlett won 7-5. PSU 24-9

At 149 with the dual secured for PSU, it was PSU's David Evans (instead of Kasak) vs Fidel Mayora. Evans with the win.

PSU with the 13th straight dual match win vs Michigan!!! 27-9

PSU led the takedowns 15-3

Brooks just dominated his guy with a second period tech fall

Kerklevit(Sp?) has to be the most athletic heavyweight I ever saw.

Would be a great edge rusher!
Kerk is very good and should win it all this year . But he’s not close to Gable Steveson from both a wrestling and athletic standpoint

Mesenbrink was very impressive. Attacking constantly. Never gets tired.

Looks like we have finally found a competitive 125 Lb wrestler in Davis.
Yes, at 125 Davis looks as young as he is but he wrestles more physical than he looks, doesn't back down and is pretty relentless. Will be fun to watch him get even better.
