Cael vs Gable, first 27 finalists...

You really need some new material. So stale

Watching Cael reel-off 6 of the last 7 National Championships while watching Iowa struggle just to stay relevant on the national scene is just eating you up inside, isn't it?

We all know what they hate and cannot deal with: Cael is the greatest coach in the sport, and now is being compared to Gable. THAT, is what they cannot handle.

That's so funny because I said CS is the greatest coach right now. See how you do it, pretend like I said the opposite of what I actually said, makes your argument so much easier. Man you two are dense. But keep telling each other how smart you each are. (Spoiler Alert: no one else believes that.....and you reaffirm that with each post) Here is also another spoiler alert, for as much as you love CS, I believe he is as equally embarrassed to have you on his side of any argument

This thread to me is really silly.
Gable in his day was great.
Cal in his day now is great.
Really no way to have a honest way
to say one is better than the other.
Different times and different every things.

Who is "Cal"? See now, I understand what you are saying, but I'm not sure who "Cal" is. I know who "Cael" is, though.

Don't try and make this rational argument with these two. From your post they can twist this around into you saying " CS has no honest way to be great", what a squawkeye.

Just classic word salad.... If you're this upset about Cael winning 6 of the last 7, I can't wait to see what you're like in a couple years when Iowa's irrelevance streak has stretched to 9 years and PSU's streak has stretched to 8 of the last 9 over that span with a guy who can't even coach!

Cal Ripken was definitely great, but why are you comparing him to Dan Gable? Today's fun fact: at his current rate of winning NCAA National Championships at The Pennsylvania State University, Cael Sanderson will have 12 NCs after his 16th year coaching in the State of Pennsylvania, one more than Gable's 11 NCs after his 16th year coaching in the State of Iowa. :po_O:confused:

Comparing Gable vs Cael is like comparing a sunrise vs a sunset.... they are both pretty amazing! You guys should just enjoy the greatness of PSU right now instead of hating on Iowa, I bet it would make you much happier
In principle, I agree that nobody should hate on the great Hawkeyes and their legacy.

However, poets and scientists all the time do compare amazing stuff such as sunrises and sunsets. Comparing is not hating. Franklin and 21 are probably poets and scientists. :)

I've written a ton of songs and music. Some of my music has been optioned and sold, and a few songs have even appeared on recorded albums. No major hits, but I'm proud of what I've done.

The greats have been compared to each other, in every field, including sport, down through time. There isn't a thing wrong with it.

I'm not surprised. You're clearly a smart guy. Smart guys and artists get drawn into perfectionist squabbles about seemingly minor details, though. It's hard to resist! :)

What sucks is that I LOVE to talk music and art, and I have a whole "little clique" of my own on here, and we talk OPENLY AND FREELY about music and art, and nobody piles on anyone, and nobody insults or tries to degrade anyone, and it's awesome. It makes me a bit disappointed that nobody on here ever engages in that area, and instead chooses to hate me and pile on, based on the fact that 3 or 4 of the pack leaders on here have chosen to pile on.

The bottom line is trust. If we could just all trust each other's intentions, it would be great. But people, us included, keep (mis)interpreting each others' intentions. And, sometimes, the intention really was to attack, but many times the intention was not really to attack.

I should clarify that while I don't think comparing G/C proves anything I don't think 21 Guns was hating, should have directed that part of it to the other poster alone.

Although I never really made any money at it I'm a published songwriter as well! I guess we have at least one thing in common ;)

In Tucson, one of my bands, my guitarist in one of them, was originally from a town near Davenport Iowa, now I gotta remember the name or try to email him, lmao.

AzChief lives in Tucson and I in Davenport. Hmmm..

Send him a PM or send me a PM, I'll bring you up to speed on everything, give you names, numbers, addresses, times, and anything else, and then give you proof.

Ask Chief, he and I have already had the conversations. Hmmm.

Now shut your ass up and eat it.

I'll even give you a taste here on the free board: my guitarists name is Robert Finnegan. He lives outside of Phx now, but lived in Tucson at the time. He is on facebook and has about 200 friends with Iowa addresses. He has hawk stuff on his home page. He loves three wheelers, he and I used to ride quads at the Dunes outside of Tucson. He also loves wrestling. Look him up.

Got about 100 other pieces of proof for your sorry ass too that I'll be happy to rub your nose in. Want articles? I will link a few of them of my bands for your sorry ass.

You want me to eat my ass? Yikes! I don't give a crap about you and your bands or where they came from. Nor do i care to check you on it. I was just simply noting where Chief and i currently reside. Just a coincidence. Nothing more than that.

You don't care because I checked YOU. Not a coincidence.

You might say I'm "peaking", like you did, about 4 seconds after Nickal lost to Martin. Still hating all the "boot licking of Penn State" that goes on over at "TheMat"? I can link that up too for any of the PSU people still questioning whether you're a hater or not.

Checked ME? Please. Do you even realize how often you repeat yourself over and over? I do not hate Penn State. I respect the program a lot. I like a lot of the wrestlers the Lions have produced in recent years and always cheer for them when they wrestle for the USA. I like many of the posters here on BWI and have a lot of fun with the banter back and forth.

I just am not a fan of the Lions. I am a fan of the Hawkeyes. Its that simple. What do you want me to say exactly?

Let's bump it ahead one year: 1984: Randall, loss, 14-14
Kistler, loss, 14-15
Zalesky, win, 15-15
the other Kistler, loss, 15-16
Goldman, loss, 15-17

So, the next checkpoint will be 32 matches. Gable stands at 15-17 at Iowa after 32, we'll then check in on Cael at PENN STATE after 32.

21Guns, one of the first times i have ever read a thread on here and felt so embarrassed you're a PSU fan that I had to side with the hawk fans. You sir, are one unintelligent human being. Next time if you don't want an "attack" (which was a disagreement on using partial facts) specify your boundaries on the public forum so no one gets their feelings hurt. If you want to voice your opinion or facts with adults on this forum, just start talking and acting like an adult. When you act childish, you deserve childish responses. I will say that Cael is 100% on an even playing field when being compared to Gable. Sorry hawks, but what Cael has done in his first 8 years at PSU has given us the right for that comparison.

Last time i checked they are both Legends respected worldwide by millions. Two of the greatest athletes ever created. We are all privileged to be alive in both of their era's.

I wish i could be older sometimes so i could have watched Gable in his prime. Being born when Marty took his first ride in the DeLorean did me no favors on that. I was however fortunate enough to see Gable coach just as good as he wrestled. Cael is on his way to doing the same. Pretty elite company

Hilarious!

The first time I've ever seen a baseless, stupid, lame comment, followed by a confirmation of everything I posted, as being 100 percent correct.

Thank you, moron! I think, lmao.

It is very hard to compare. Two Iowa State University Cyclone legends who deserve the accolades heaped on them. To me Dan Gable is the Gold standard of wrestling coaches and Cael is the Gold standard of college wrestlers. Gable was a great wrestler while at ISU, but Cael surpassed him. Gable would still remain firmly planted as the number one college wrestling coach of my lifetime, and Cael has moved himself in to the second position as a young man. Can Cael do even more than Gable as far as team titles and individual AA's and NC's are concerned? I sure wouldn't bet against it. We could argue this until the cows come home, but one thing can't be argued- Cael Sanderson is the greatest College wrestling coach actively coaching today.

Let's go ahead and include Cael at ISU, even though he did not take over a two time NCAA championship roster, like Gable did...

After 32 finals matches: Cael 18-14, Gable 15-17.

So, instead of a 2 win margin for Cael, it's a 3 win margin for Cael, after 32 finals matches.

Anything you can think up to make Cael look better right? Take your glasses off! Cael has a long way to go to match Gable. He is on his way though

More than on his way. If you want to be completely honest, he's already there and everybody knows it, it's just a matter of letting the time pass. We will all naturally see In a few years. Not being arrogant, but just being realistic on where Cael is heading with this. Logically there is no realistic plan, any other coach has put together to stop him. Will there be a year here or there that another team will win it, yes, but will that be a trend, I don't see it. Really, does anyone realistically think that what Cael has emassed is really going to magically disappear tomorrow? This gets back to the talk that once Taylor and Ruth are gone, that Penn State is done. Sorry, It's just that anybody that in year 8 of Gabel's reign, predicting that it was suddenly going to end would be considered to be delusional at best.

Yes, Cael is on his way. Records are made to be broken. Remember that anything can happen while trying to break such records. We shall see. Its just going to take some years to find out.
