CFP Poll

And that should put any talk of Penn State in the playoff to rest. Even with a win over Michigan, there isn’t enough schedule quality left to climb into the top 4.

Well if we win Saturday the B1G is out of the playoff pic...Que the refs

Check out the first releases prior years if you think Ohio State is out. They need help but not that much if you look at things closely. All this really says is that they love the SEC and they don't like the Big XII other than Iowa State for some reason.

The biggest surprise to me was Washington State. There's no way a Pac XII team should be in the top 15 let alone the top 10. Only 2 Pac XII teams are ranked so they have no shot at getting a team in the playoff

5 of the top 11 are SEC teams. Every other contender better be rooting for Bama to win out if they want to avoid 2 SEC teams getting in. Might need LSU to lose Saturday and then a third game.

The Big Ten is in decent shape with 4 of the top 16. We're out but Florida is the only 2 loss team ahead of us (SEC) so we're at least getting a lot of respect. If we win out we'll definitely be in the top 10 and probably the top 8. Ohio State and Michigan are very much alive.

West Virginia at 13 and Texas at 17 show you what they think about the Big XII. Oklahoma's in trouble and need WVU to win out until they play.

Syracuse is the 2nd ACC at 19. Going to be interesting to see what happens if Clemson doesn't run the table.

UCF has no shot

ND has no shot if they lose a game

This really might be the craziest year yet. Or we'll get Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame and Michigan.

If that happens, we don’t make the playoff, but we could get rose bowl

If Northwestern wins the Big Ten they get the Rose. There's no option. Honestly, Northwestern winning the Big Ten pushes us down a spot so it might not be the best for us but worth it to see Michigan or Ohio State lose.

Ok

But I think we get a new year 6

Maybe maybe not. Big ten got 3 ny6 teams last year and the year before. If we win out and Ohio state beats Michigan, Michigan will be behind us w three losses and NW beating osu just means nw goes to the Rose instead of osu. 2 loss osu and 2 loss psu are your other two big ten teams in the ny6. If Michigan beats osu but loses to nw they will have three loses and drop behind Osu and psu.

Right but Northwestern beating Ohio State in the title game still knocks us down a spot. Ohio State would get the better game. We might end up with UCF in that scenario.

I even think we have an excellent shot at 9-3 if Michigan or Ohio State win out but the second you throw a NW Big Ten champ into the mix things get cloudy. The SEC and Big Ten should get half of the spots this year one way or another.

I don't think we have much shot if we are 9-3. Our best win would be what? Iowa?

No 3 loss teams made it last year, FSU made it in 2016, ole miss did in 2015, ole miss and zona did in 2014. Outside of the cfp they don't rank the games per se so OSU losing doesn't knock us down a peg necessarily. #9 and #8 have each gotten better games than #7 two of the past 4 seasons.

#7 has played #12, #8, #14 and #12 over the past 4 years.
#8 has played #5, #7, #15 and #5.
#9 has played #6, #18, #5, #11.

Unless the others falter-which could happen

But we are not in the playoffs.

You just can't understand how this works.
Even if all the big ten loses and Penn State wins, they aren't going to the CFP. No 2 loss team has ever made it and a 2 loss Big Ten champ would be passed over.

watching the Big Ten this year that may be a good thing. OSU or Michigan will be crushed by Bama or Clemson.

We are at 14. Ohio State at 10, Michigan at 5.

Love to see Bama, Georgia, Clemson, and ND. Or better yet, Bama, Georgia, LSU, and Clemson.

That screws three of the Power 5 Conferences, two of them for the second straight year, and hopefully gets this fake beauty contest turned around into a true Playoff in the next couple of years. Conference Champs only.

I'm a gargantuan college football fan, but didn't waste one second of my time watching that joke of a beauty contest last year. Especially after how we got so screwed the year before. The "Playoff" is a complete and total joke.

None of that matters though. There's 6 auto-bids (all conference winners and the best G5). So there's 6 at large. ND likely will get one unless they completely fall apart, the SEC will get 2 of the spots so that leaves 3 spots

The Big Ten will absolutely get a second team so that leaves 2 spots. The Pac XII nor the ACC are going to get two teams. The only possibility would be if Clemson lost in the ACCCG. Pac XII has not shot at 2 unless Utah and Washington State somehow got in which I can't imagine. That means the Big XII will get a second team and the Big Ten will get a third. I mean, I think the odds are pretty good for us unless somehow Texas, WVU and OU all finish with 2 losses and I don't think that's even possible with their schedules since WVU still has to play both and then there's a title game.

We can get a 2 loss team this year simply because I'm not convinced that we'll have 4 teams with 1 loss or less from the P5 + ND

OSU won't get in with a blow out loss.

Why do people keep saying this? The only thing I can think of is that we didn't get in when Michigan blew us out but we had 2 losses. If Ohio State runs the table (I don't believe they will) they're in great shape and the rankings today showed that.

Georgia lost by 23 last year to Auburn. Obviously Auburn > Purdue but that still happened. One bad loss is going to be forgiven in my opinion if you win the rest of your games and that includes wins over Penn State and Michigan

Dude, please,I beg you to go back to the Ohio State board. Of course that is if you didn't get kicked out of there.

I'm good with ruining the rest of the B1G's hopes. They've done nothing but screwed us.

I know they probably banned you from your own OSU board but you need to find a home somewhere else. You got banned from here defending Urban yet you come back with this garbage.

Dormers shouldn’t get in without winning a Conference Championship Game which of course they can’t since they don’t play in one - they should at least have to play in the ACC one.

I totally agree with this no championship, no spot, join any conference.
In a 13 year span Alabama plays Georgia twice, cross division games, any conference should be pro rated every 2-4 years.

I honestly have no idea what you're talking about. I said IF Ohio State runs the table they're probably in and that I don't think they will. How does that make me an Ohio State fan?

We should have beat them this year and Ohio State isn't elite this year but if they go 12-1 with a Big Ten title and wins over Penn State and Michigan they're almost a lock even though Purdue embarrassed them. I think there's a strong possibility that they go 9-3. At least as strong as them going 12-1.

Keep stumpin' for Urban bro.

Auburn was ranked number 10 at the time. And then they beat Auburn in a rematch when Auburn was ranked number 4. They lost by 23 and then won by 21. Pretty much a draw. At the time of SEC championship, Georgia was 6th and out of the playoffs.

You can tell him that 78 times and it still won't register. ;)

I agree with this. Hopefully we don't find out but I'm convinced that if Michigan or Ohio State run the table they'll be in. I think that Purdue loss will fade out of the minds of the committee if they beat Michigan (which I don't think they will).

We aren’t getting in the playoffs with two loses. People need to give up that dream so they don’t go nuts when it doesn’t happen.

OSU or Michigan will be in if they run the table.
