Clarion Open

Shunk wins 7-5. Seems like we suddenly have some depth at 125.

Carter “Nickal” Starocci up again against Sequete (Clarion)
***Carter using Bo’s si glee for this one***

nice double for a TD for Star
Escape followed by a lift and split leg double to the mat for another TD for Starocci
Cross body ride on top now and Carter gets called for potentially dangerous as the shoulder gets extended
Let’s him up and it’s 4-2
Hi-C to a powerful double and it’s another TD
6-2 at the of 1 with 1:57 RT

sequate down
Gets cut loose
Another TD for Starocci and another tight ride
Has a wing and a half and transitions to a bar and flips him to his back for 4 NF! It’s 13-3

Carter on bottom and he’s up and out quickly
He defends a shit and goes behind for another TD
Carter gets reversed and almost finds himself in troubled or a second, but he’s now in a quad pod and gets out
Carter wins this one 18-5!

How does HoosierLion know anything about Beard yet? He did great in his grayshirt year and Conel didn't wrestle. Why don't we wait and see?

Starocci looked great again but was definitely gassed big time at the end, and had nothing left or he would have teched him. In his defense, he had a quick turn around from the first match

Getting to Joe Lee late, but he’s up 2-1 in the first over Limongi (Kent)

limongi chooses bottom
Lee called for stalling...had him flat and stayed parallel for awhile
Then he gets sloppy and reversed - down 3-2 now
Lee is out and ties it at 3

Lee starts on bottom in the 3rd and gets a quick reversal - it’s 5-3 and his RT is close to 1 min now
Limingi gets free, but RT is locked for Lee now
With RT, Lee wins it 6-4.

Starocci fell asleep in that third period and let a TF become a major, but to be fair it may have been boring for him. He looks like he'd be on the podium if he wrestled 174 this year.

Come on Beard. Looking for the counter/reattack too much from neutral. He should major+ this kind of competition. Solid win but unexciting for sure
Conel can win a National Championship. Beard is nowhere near that level yet.
Murphy has a terrible W-L record with primarily low scoring matches. So from the record, blocking on feet appears to be his MO.

We know Beard is a tremendous rider who scores in bunches on top. Yet he didn't even try. Instead he scores 4 takedowns on a (very) poor man's Pletcher type

What does that say about this match?

Are there any r12 threats in anyone's bracket besides Matt Lee's first match

Careful using the “P” name as “boring”.

Uncle P has wi-fi at the hunting cabin.

Baylor Shunk-125
Terrell Barraclough-149
Paul Feite-157
Joe Lee-165
Carter Starocci-174
Donovon Ball-184
Eddie Smith- 197
Joe Kurtz-197
Mike Beard-197
Keagan Carmenatty-hwt
Bump from a couple days ago. No change … though they are now sorted by weight class.

Got to it way late, but Matt Lee is up 10-4 over Resignalo (Edin)

going into the 3rd it’s 10-4 Matt with 1:17 RT
Lee onbottim and escapes in :05
Gets thebTD and cuts him
Hi-C for another TD - it’s 15-5
With RT it ends 16-5 for a MD win for Matt Lee!

Barraclough and Ball up simultaneously, I’m choosing Ball as I haven’t watched him yet today

Ball v. Bernot (LH)
In on a shot, gets a danger swipe in himself and after some brief scrambling, he gives up the 2
Legs in CIF Bernot and Ball ridden hard
Ball down 2-0 after 1

Ball on bottom to start the 2nd
Broken down quickly and legs back in
Ball reversed and gives up an escape
In on a shot but can’t finish as time expires

down 3-2 in the 3rd and Bernot starts on bottom
Bernot is up and out
Ball can’t generate enough offense in the 3rd and loses 5-2.

Checking in on Barraclough and he’s up 4-9 in the 2nd and riding tight!

we’re neutral in the 3rd and Bar is up 4-0 percent its 2:30 RT
Awesome scramble with both guys exposing their backs a time or two before Bar secures the TD - it’s 6-0 now
Missed the end but Bar wins it 9-1!

Reactions: PACOLT
Carmenatty up v. Noonan (Edin)

missed the start but it’s 2-1 Carm
Carm gets an awkward cradle and almost sticks himself and they’re figuring scoring out now
Looks like it went 2 and 4 for Carm and then a reversal fir Noonan at the end...it’s 9-3 Carm after he escapes.

Carm starts on bottom
Carm getting ridden for a bit here now...
He gets to a quad pod several times, but returned to the mat every time
He gets out with :15 left in the period - it’s 10-3 now

Noonan on bottom and out right away
Carm gets a TD and lets him up immediately
Carm goes for a rough shot in the last second to try for the MD and gets taken down off of it...he gets the DEC win though

Meredith v. Heil (Clev)
***Heil took out Shunk in the first round***

great scramble and no score for either guy
Meredith working underhooks and front head locks, but nothing yet
Nice go behind for Meredith for a TD!
Meredith rides right and gets :37 RT but loses him with :01 left in the first and it’s 2-1

Heil down to start the second and out quickly - it’s tied up, but Meredith has :46 RT.
Sweep single by Meredith and he looses it in a scramble to give up a TD - down 4-2 now
He escapes quickly and it’s 4-3 now

Meredith starts on bottom in the 3rd
He’s out and we’re tied up 4-4
RT not really a factor, :18 for Meredith
Meredith defends a couple shots and almost hits a go behind, but doesn’t
Great exchanges but no TDs and we’re in OT

Meredith in on a single bit loses it and Heil wins with a hard sprawl and go behind...final 6-4

bummer result, but an entertaining match!

Beard up 2-0 over Ancewicz (Edin)
Riding tight now and chops him and goes into a tilt for 2 NF. It’s 4-0 after 1

Beard on bottom in the 2nd
Stalling on Ancewicz
Beard is up and out
Beard sprawls hard and gos begins for 2 more
7-0 after 2 and Beard has over 3 mins RT

neutral in the 3rd
Beard drives him to the mat for another TD and he goes optional start on the restart
He releases him and it’s 9-1
Sprawl on a shot and goes behind for another TD
He cuts him and does the Nolf foot sweeps on Ancewicz’s way up
Snap and Go behind for 2 more and he wins it 14-2...on to the finals!

Tough one for Brandon against Heil. Heil had knocked off a NQ the previous round.

Brandon got screwed at the end of period 1 as the kid waving the noodle looked like he was lagging with the noodle tap, but regardless, Brandon had opportunities to win. Close, but no cigar.
