I am really sorry to hear that Str8. This is time for family. The board and more opens are here for you when you get back. Maybe you can share a fond grandpa story with us when you return.
I was blessed with having 3 grandpa's all my life and now I'm sad to say I'm down to just 1 remaining
On 11/2/2021 at 4:45 my Grandpa Hetrick passed away after battling health issues and living the last month on hospice care. If you knew my grandpa you know he was always a jokester and could make you laugh during any conversation that you had with him.
Some of the funny stories I can share...
I was in the passenger seat of my buddy Jim's car as we are driving the streets of my hometown when a little red ford mustang comes blasting through a stop sign and nearly wipes us out... We immediately start yelling obscenities' and giving the traditional finger we give to bad drivers, Then I notice it was a NY license plate and I realize it was my grandpa 😂🤣😂🤣.. We talked about this story just a few weeks ago and both still laughed.
Another good story was one time we were out of town for a wrestling tournament. My grandparents had a key to my parents house and would just go stay there from time to time while we were away. Well My grandpa being the "City Boy" that he was from growing up in Buffalo would never eat anything but processed and store bought meat. We had venison steak a couple nights prior and had some left overs. We also had a dog at this time
any idea where this is going? Left over steak was mixed in with gravy and dog food then placed into the fridge so the dog could have some soft dinner (yummy right), Well, Grandpa would always help himself to what ever was in the fridge to eat and this time was no different. We return home on Sunday and G-ma and G-pa are still at the house. Mom goes to the fridge to get the dog some food and the bowl was gone. Mom asks what happened to the bowl and my grandpa says well I ate it. she says WHAT, YOU ATE IT? he says Yep and it was good to! Mom says, do you know what that was? He said it was meat with sauce and noodles. My mom says, Richard that was Venison. He freaks out and says NANCY did you know that was venison like he always would call grandma as NANCY. My mom then follows it up with well since you liked then i should tell you that wasn't noodles in it. He perks up and says what was it.. Mom replies it was dog food with gravy over it. 😝 He completely loses it and runs for the bathroom, throws up and comes back down to once again say NANCY did you know that was dog food? why did you let me eat dog food. WE WERE ROLLING!!!!
These stories are just examples of the moments we shared and could still laugh about them today and I will remember for as long as I live. Grandpa You will absolutely be missed more that you would ever know. Please watch over us, Keep the animals company up there and tell uncle Ricky I said hello!
RIP Grandpa Hetrick 5/24/1947 - 11/2/2021
