Karchla also in this bracket.

Could be a fun 1 to watch.

Kilkeary with a leg up in the air for the last 30 seconds but just couldn't finish for the win. Ramos gets the TD at the buzzer off the scramble. Kilkeary gave up a stalling point and an escape - really didn't have an attack until the very end. Looks strong enough to compete defensively but will need to develop some offense.

Nasdeo with a nice first period up 3-1 on Brayden Palmer with 1:45 RT but then takes bottom in the 2nd and gets dominated for the next two periods (Palmer took top in 3rd) giving up 2 sets of backs, a stall point and RT point. Obviously, freshman struggles on bottom.

Ramos is ranked #1 by wrestlestat. Palmer is ranked #10.

125 is really, really wide open this year. Hope Robby's shoulder is good.

Just a reminder, Ramos pinned the GOAT 🤣🤣 last year.

Mel Miller went SV and lost to the #47 ranked guy, Ty Badgett. Miller looked better to me, just not strong enough as a 16 year old. Almost had the winning TD but Badgett got bailed out on a PD.

Jax and Gaj destroyed their opponents. Pretty amazing.

Forrest and Blaze could face each other in the quarters, assuming they both get that far.

Jax wins 18-5 over Camacho. Watching the match it didn't feel like the domination that the scoreboard showed.

Jax is incredible off of flurries and scrambles where he piles up points. That and his slideby which is so effective because of his length.

If he gets to Ramos, I'd expect him to struggle because Ramos is really solid on defense, good on top and content to win ugly.

Ramos TF Jax here last year. Would be interesting to see how the gap has closed/widened

Hayden kicks the crap out of TJ England, 17-1 with 4:30 of RT in just over 2 periods. Looks like he is working on a bow and arrow as well, although I don't think points are the main goal of the one he is working on, lol.

Both Bo and Mendez looked great in their matches with 1st period Techs. Watching some of these matches, I don't think I'm a fan of the 3 point takedown. Matches that are reasonably close are ending in Majors and techs are happening way too fast. Bo teched the GW wrestler in a minute and a half!

Yup, indicative of the desire of some to make our version of the sport freestyle.

As if that's going to make it more palatable for the masses. Hate to say it, but nobody watches wrestling in the Olympics either except for the people who are already watching NCAAs.

Hey, no action in neutral is just as bad as no action on the mat.

Ouch. Nasdeo needs a lot of work from bottom. Kid from George Mason isn't any good on top at all and Nasdeo was not even close to getting out.

I never saw him even get to his feet in the six minutes he spent on bottom this tournament.

Firrst competition as a frosh, so not completely unexpected. But in a scale to 10 it was a 0 from the bottom position today.

You hate that the final score is 7-4 instead of 6-4? Agree, we should eliminate the rule.
no, I just hate that I have to think about how to get to 7-4 in SV. if it was 6-4 I would instantly have known. Now it took me 30 seconds.
Not knowing how they got to 4(td & esc; or rev, esc, rt) -4 it might have been 3-3 with the 2 pt TD. Or it might have been 4-3 with a 2 pt TD and SV would not have been needed.
It was more in jest that I don't like it. I do wish it would have been tested before implemented. but this is where we are.

Understand. I see a lot of people who actually hate the rule. I am willing to give it a shot. it will change the sport- no doubt. If people expect the sport won’t change, they will be disappointed.

Jax dominated Treaster, TF. Will get Blaze next. Winner gets Ramos.

Bassett beats Gonzalez from Ohio State, 11-1. Has Scott Johnson next, then Rini who is decent. I have been more impressed with Bo here, he has added some attacks to his neutral game and his strength is elite. I think he'll end up in the finals against Bouzakis. Hayden has Bouzakis next in quarters.

It's not a game changer. In the grand scheme of things the majority of the matches are the same in reality, although the score is a little different. Instead of being down 4-2 looking for a ring TD in the 3rd, you're now down 5-2 looking for the tying TD.

Here are the actual impacts of the rule change, which I don't think anyone on e committee actually thought through and which is why I hate it. Or maybe they did think it through which would make me hate it even more.

1) Devalues end of period scores and/or end of period ride outs. These are the only situations in 95% of the matches where the escape is devalued. Otherwise, it has no impact.

2) devalues the reversal, and worse, disincentives it. No real reason to go for a reversal now. Will lead to a whole bunch of taking neutral in the 3rd once coaches figure out the impact (although that could take a while in a lot of places). Eventually, will lead to all 3 periods starting neutral once the smart people tell the others what's happening.

3) devalues the NF. Which may be ok, since the 4pt NF kind of skewed things and did not really have the impact they thought it would on top wrestling. But since the pin is the ultimate goal in wrestling (supposedly), and there was an easier fix to this...

It also will shorten matches which, especially in a tournament setting, is not a bad thing.

It's the friggin stupidest thing I've seen in wrestling since the ball grab. Total whiff on what they stated they are trying to do. If you are around college wrestling you realize there are an awful lot of smart people involved. Usually, they aren't the guys who get involved in stuff like this though, unfortunately.

Gonzales only lost by 1 to Bouzakis in the OSU wrestle off
