Coaches Show tonite at 6 pm EST

You guys should go back and stream the radio show.

David Taylor is interviewed in the last 15 mins, and he has some fantastic comments and insight.

Let's just say he misses wrestling for PSU and lives our fan base .... And he sees the current team like his "little brothers".... And he gets super nervous before their matches.

DT has some hysterical Jason Nolf stories as well.. Definitely worth the listen.

Haven't gotten to listen to DT on bonus points yet (not a huge Immel fan) but he showed well on T-Row and Funky.

I have us winning Nationals by 20 points now that Nick is good to go...Hear Cael say he could have went last week but did not want to risk his progression....Says his mind is great and wants back out....

C'mon, bro. You've been telling us Suriano is "good to go" (whatever that really means) for over a week now; i.e., several days prior to the B1G tourney. o_O:confused:

Love Cael's subtleties.....nice for refs to perform their own challenge on Hall match because OSU was out of challenges. I thought Hall got screwed out of TD even before time ran out.

I hear you on that - Hall appeared to have his leg in on BoJo and when they went to the mat the first time, he landed on top of BoJo in a what appeared to be a "Flash TD" control position. They went back to their feet, but Hall was basically behind BoJo with leg still in and when they went back down to the mat (BoJo again attempted a Granby and got stuck again) Hall again landed on top in a clear "control" position, but time had gone to 0:00 just before they landed.

Cael never said Suriano is all good and set to compete. Here's his full quote after Byers asked about the injury affecting his preparation and how the coaches will decide whether he will be ready to go for nationals:

"I mean, he's wrestling. It just didn't make sense to wrestle him in the Big 10. Yeah we could have used him, but setting himself back is not worth it obviously. I think training can be overrated at this point in time...(goes on a tangent about injured people missing time right before big tournaments and then coming out and having a great performance). As long as he's getting his heart rate up, it's not like he's going to learn how to wrestle right now. He knows how to wrestle. He's been wrestling almost every day of his life since he was a little kid. It's just a matter of him keeping his conditioning up and keeping his mind fresh. So, I'm not worried about the training aspect. It's just trying to get him as close to 100% as possible. That's priority number one."

The first sentence of Cael's quote seemed to be in reference to Suriano being capable of wrestling in practice right now during the lead up to the NCAA tournament, which is obviously a great sign.

It did not mean "He's definitely wrestling in St. Louis and will be all good." I interpreted it as saying with some level of reservation, "I mean hey, he's wrestling right now so we'll see how he feels."

Does the tone of every thread need to so toxic as if the fate of the free world is at stake when someone disagrees? Trying not to call out anyone here but if you think the point of a message board is to win you are in need of perspective, both as to what matters on this earth, and as to what constitutes winning. If you're repeating the same point a dozen+ times you're not winning.

Great post tikk, and it's not even about wrestling. To me, it's the post of the day.

We're eating our own here...name-calling, angry exchanges (loud & clear even though it's the written word), anal / ad nauseam repeated posts. For the reasonable fan, it's become nearly unreadable. This community has become TheMat II, queue El-Jefe and the dumpster fire gif.

Ah yes, conspiracies are all around us.

The refs performed by the book (the rule book and instructions) in this sequence. The lead ref's only focus is on whether or not a TD should be awarded. The 2nd official generally is watching the wrestlers. However, at the end of the period his bigger responsibility is to watch the clock AND the lead ref. If there is a question as to whether the points were awarded before the end of the period (which there would be in this situation), then the 2nd official is supposed to offer his opinion. In situations where the awarding happened within a second or so of time running out, and it's not possible to know for sure when criteria was met, or when the points were awarded with regards to the clock, the refs are instructed to review the video on their own. It's not a challenge -- it's getting things correct, and their review had nothing to do with whether or not tOSU was out of challenges.

I thought Hall got screwed out of TD even before time ran out.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Two college refs, with tons of experience and who know the rules inside out, reviewed a video of the sequence. They determined that criteria was not met for a TD. I trust their analysis.

damn it... you mean he loss?

yep. used to tell friends the bwi wrestling board was far superior to tos for knowledgeable posters, etc. can't say that anymore :(.

while I'm biased, I still think your earlier statement to friends would be accurate.

quite recently, there has been a very small subset that has diminished the experience on this board. I don't think that situation will become the norm.

Speak it brother! I deleted my App for The Mat because I couldn't stand wading through the pissing matches but at least there the main offenders are trolling most the time. Here we seem to have a small group of genuine a holes who simply want to argue and like you said "win". STFU already and get a life.

That is correct. You must repeat the same point 8 times to win. It takes 8 to win. Not 12, certainly not 7, but 8.

Tommy - that's what Cael basically said in his interview. I trust Cael's opinion (and mine) over yours - sorry. Did you ever wrestle - just wondering?

wrestling people do this a lot in my opinion. I think it holds back casual fans from developing and Im not sure why.
Ego.

It's the hardest thing I've done in my life (so says Gable), and you Mr. Outsider are telling me I'm wrong about it?

All you guys are wrong about everything. I'm ALWAYS right and nothing of what you say is valid. Especially Tom, Roar and NoVa. All your opinions are just that, opinions. Everything I say is a fact...of course...I never say anything. Seriously, Rodney King said it best, "Why can't we all just get along?" Just chillax and drink some blue Kool-Aid, it's all good.

No doubt the official called it as he saw it and the 2nd official exercised correct mechanics regarding focus on the clock (and saying it needed to be reviewed as to when the two was given). I had no problem with the call as it was subjective as all "Flash TD" calls are imho.

Anyway, I wasn't trying to suggest it was a blatantly bad call - merely was agreeing that the "Flash TD" which was ultimately called (and ruled correctly after 0:00) could have been called on 1st tumble series which was nearly identical. But agree that the whole "Flash TD" thing is uber subjective in regards to "control" and can really be justified in either direction. Anyway, wasn't really trying to be critical of the call or the officiating there was just agreeing that the first tumble series was very similar to 2nd one - don't even know that you took offense to what I posted, but just wanted to clarify...I completely agree with you, there was nothing wrong with the way it was called on the mat given the huge amount of subjectivity involved both ways (i.e., control / no control) in that situation.

But I don't like Kool-Aid.
