DaQuan Davis has left PSU

He did. His first game under Bill O'Brien I was really impressed with him. Best of luck...

It also frees up another scholarship for 2016. Penn State has a good chance to secure maybe even 21 or 22 scholarships for 2016, and is currently ranked #15 with just 8 commits.

It actually does not, he only had one year of eligibility left... Still 71 returning with 2016 eligibility right now.

tough loss, but PSU has some pretty good depth at that position . . .

Wish him the best of luck.....but, as with the earlier departure of Kasey Gaines, the "writing was on the wall"

Davis is an interesting case....if you recall, he came in and played a decent amount as a True Freshman for Bill O. That squad was absolutely DECIMATED at DB (kinda like the 2014 squad was at OL). I think there were a total of FIVE scholarship DBs on the roster - and one of them was Mike Wallace (who may have never played a single snap). Davis stepped up before he really could have been expected to, and did a decent job.

The next year, his PT plummeted - even though he was one of only a few DBs with any experience.

Then the coaching staff changes, and Davis comes out of nowhere to look VERY good in the BW game (probably had the best BW game of any corner on the roster). One would have thought that would open up the opportunity for him to get back into the DB rotation, but come September Davis was - once again - nowhere to be found.

Odd case for sure....but the current young depth was going to make it tough for guys like Gaines, Davis and a few others to get PT. Hopefully they can find a good landing spot both for their academic and on-field success. I think - in this case - the kid does have enough to contribute on-field for someone.

Did he leave the team or PSU. Hate to see a senior not finish his education. As for the team, I took note he was third on the depth chart. Maybe he just was done with football. In any case I wish him well.

He was to be found in Ireland, only problem was the person who kept finding him was UCF's QB

I believe he is still at PSU, just not on the team. Hopefully, he will finish up his degree at PSU, or elsewhere if he chooses.
