Defense reigning supreme in UCF Temple game

Russo played on some of those great Archbishop Wood teams. He and Brandon McIlwain both attended the Elite 11 in 2015.

No idea. Any idea why pylons are past the back of the end zone? It appeared Temple kid thought he had more room to make the catch with the strange coloration and the placement of the pylons.
The pylons have always been a couple yards past the end line for some odd reason. They are in line with the hash marks though. The only reason for that which comes to mind is in the event the hash marks aren't visible then the refs can eyeball the placement of the ball using the pylons at each end of the field.

Thanks. I just don’t remember seeing it. Clearly I was more fooled by the placement than the receiver should have been.

UCF, per usual, will probably find a way to win but this definitely isn't helping their argument that they're a top 4 team. Temple is moving the ball at will. The same Temple team that lost to Nova

Russo did not start until week 3 when they spanked Maryland. Temple is 5-1 with him at QB.

I'm aware but that doesn't change the fact they lost to a bad Nova team. There's years that losing to Nova wouldn't be embarrassing but with or without Russo that's a horrible loss

UCF just needs to win- even if they beat Temple by only 1. They aren’t going to be in the final 4 but that won’t stop them from putting up a lighted “2018 National Champion” sign in their stadium right under the 2017 one. ;)

What the hell is going on with these UCF uniforms? Is it a NASA/Cape Canaveral thing?

They have to win their NY6 bowl game again to make that claim. Which could be against us if we take care of business.

Well they do have a national championship level defense apparently.

Yep. Only half way through the 3rd quarter and mighty Temple has 34 points, 25 first downs, and 505 total yards already. ;)

And UCF is getting all kinds of help...Temple has 10 penalties for over 100 yards and UCF has 3 for 15. And the big white lines on the sidelines are apparently in bounds for UCF receivers.

Just saw that stat on the Temple penalties a minute ago. Good God that’s ugly and it’s still the 3rd quarter.

Apparently it's OK for the UCF defenders to grab the jerseys of Temple receivers.

Funny, read about the back pylons here in this thread a few hours ago.

Just now (approx 11:30PM Eastern) was flipping around and had the BTN on for about 2 minutes. Saw a highlight from the Wiscy - NW game and noticed the pylons as you described, these were aligned with the goal post and seemingly the hash marks.

And, as I’m typing this, ESPN highlights of the Ohio - Western Mich game showed the same thing, pylons several yds behind the end zone.

Have NEVER noticed this or aware of this before tonight.....

14 penalties for 149 yards. Meanwhile, the Temple offense that moved it for 670 yards never worried UCF at all.. so they never tried holding or interfering... since about all they were called for all game were mini-mouse ticky-tack penalties... 8 for 50... the offsides, illegal motion BS.

Whew.... that's sone D they got themselves there.

When UCF was created, it was Florida Tech and they were called the Citronauts. They worked in conjunction with NASA back in the 60s. So they were honoring that heritage.

thats what i figured ... thanks for the info!!

Very suspect officiating. If someone doesn’t believe in officials trying to help an outcome they need to watch this farce.

Yep, some of those calls were legit, others just had me shaking my head. They really wanted UCF to stay undefeated.

I was like watching Arena Football - zero defense. I do wish Temple had pulled it out but it was a nice showing by them and agreed the officials were for sure trying to keep UCF in it. One questionable catch on the side lines for UCF that looked out of bounds was not reviewed because UCF ran 40 yards downfield and snapped it again - no way the refs couldn't stop them and review - total BS.
