Different topic: Most beautiful piece of music..........

Track 3 from Lou Reed's 1975 double LP Metal Machine Music, aka *The Amine β Ring." Although some would argue that track 4 with the locked groove is better.

Super subjective, but my favorite 'most beautiful' is Beethoven's Symphony No. 7, 2nd Movement:

One of my favorite contemporary composers is Clint Mansell - he's scored a lot of films but his standout, most used track is 'Lux Aeterna' from 'Requiem for a Dream'. One of the most iconic and best pieces of recent music IMO. It's simple, but haunting and calming in a way.

Among modern composers, few are better than Bill Conti. Here is his great, somewhat forgotten, theme song from the miniseries North and South.

IMHO........Adagio For Strings.
For me, toss up from among:
1. Mendelssohn's "Elijah" (sang at PSU with Harrisburg Symphony);
2. Beethoven's 9th Symphony (sang at PSU with Pittsburgh Symphony); and
3. Handel's "Messiah"
