This lineup was depressing to do. The Edinboro wrestling program has imploded with the departure of Tim Flynn to West Virginia. It was nothing short of impressive with what Flynn did at Edinboro. We’ll see if he can attain the same kind of success in Morgantown.

125 – ??

There’s not a single 125 listed on their roster. It looks like they’ll be getting a walk-on. Last season, Sean Russell went 32-7 and 2-2 in the tournament from the 11 seed. Russell has since transferred to Minnesota. (Russell was an AA, finishing 7th in 2017, and went 1-2 in 2016.)

133 – Recco (Sr) <Lydonville, NY> or Gomez (Fr) <Kings Park, NY>

This weight class isn’t in much better shape than 125. Tony Recco is 1-8 in opens the last two years. Richie Gomez went 4-8 in opens during his redshirt season. Last season, Korbin Myers went 30-12 overall and 1-2 in the tournament (he also qualified in 2017, going 1-2). Myers has since transferred to Virginia Tech.

141 – Hagan (Sr) <Toledo Central Catholic, OH> or Vath (Jr) <Saegertown, PA>

Nate Hagan went 10-21 as the starter last season. Tyler Vath was the starter in 15/16, going 9-21 and took a redshirt season due to injury.

149 – Suter (Fr) <Buena Regional, NJ> or Matzke (So) <Stuttgart American, GE>

Tim Suter went 3-6 in opens for his redshirt season. Chris Matzke went 5-11 in opens last season. Jensen Lorea (Sr) went 6-17 as the starter last season (he’s not listed on their 18/19 roster ). Pat Lugo was the starter here before transferring to Iowa for the 17/18 season.

157 – Resignalo (So) <Chartiers Valley, PA>

There’s no one on their roster listed at 157 so I guess Mike Resignalo who went 1-6 in opens @149 last season or either Suter or Matzke or will be the starter here. Last season, Andrew Shomers went 29-8 overall and 0-2 in the tournament. He has since transferred to Oklahoma State.

165 – Hoehn (So) <North Andover, MA>

Fritz Hoehn went 14-16 as the starter last season and didn’t qualify for the tournament.

174 – Oliver (Fr) <Huntingdon Area, PA>

Jacob Oliver went 9-6 in opens during his redshirt season. His best win was against Fritz Schierl (tOSU). Oliver also beat Edinboro’s other 174lber Koltyn Eason who went 13-12 in opens last season. Last season’s starter, Ty Schoffstall went 22-5 overall and 1-2 in the tournament (he also went 1-2 in 2017). Schoffstall didn’t transfer, he ran out of eligibility…

184 – Ancewicz (So) <John Glenn, NY>

Zach Ancewicz went 12-17 as a true freshman starter last season. He had a couple of wins against former qualifiers: Fagg-Daves (Rider) and Corba (Cleveland St). Cody Mulligan, a two-time PIAA (AA) 182lb champion, had committed to Edinboro but he’s not yet listed on their roster. I don’t know where he has ended up. [Edit: Mulligan is still going to Edinboro.] Dakota Greer, who qualified for the tournament as a true freshman in 16/17 (going 1-2), redshirted for Edinboro last season and has since transferred to Oklahoma State.

197 – Reynolds(Jr) <Saegertown, PA>

Dylan Reynolds went 11-12 as the starter last season and didn’t qualify for the tournament (no wins against NCAA qualifiers).

Heavy – Spaulding (So) <Lakota East, OH>

Jon Spaulding went 10-12 last season (0-2 in duals). Last season’s starter, Billy Miller, went 18-6 overall and 2-2 in the tournament from the 13 seed. He also qualified in 2017 and 2016 (1-2 in both years). Miller has since also transferred to Virginia Tech. Another Flynn signee, Gaige Willis (Ohio D3 195 and 220 state champion), is also not yet listed on the roster.

Edinboro loses all 5 of its qualifiers from last season, a former qualifier and a couple of very good incoming freshmen [edit: as El Jefe & takedown said, it appears the incoming freshmen will still be there. So that's some good news]. Edinboro had a 36th place/7 point finish last season. It looks like Oliver is their only hope at getting a qualifier this year [Edit: or Mulligan if he starts]. Sad, very sad.

Pretty sure Mulligan is still at Edinboro.

Their roster has no true freshmen listed at all.

But IIRC there are only 2 incoming freshmen -- Mulligan and an OH 285 -- unless there are some walk-ons who didn't sign an NLI.

I'm excited to see what coach Hill can do. I think if I have it correct, Scottish warriors fight to the death.
