I am not sure what expectations I have for Aaron but I will say this. He does not look like a freshman when he wrestles. He looks like an upper class man.

I'm curious as to why anyone would post on the HR Forum. Let's face it, our opinions (and often our facts) are not welcome there. It is an exercise in futility to try IMHO. If they want to come over here and post thought provoking messages or correct inaccuracies when they exist, they are welcome to. But wading into those waters seems a little nuts. I'm curious. Is it just cheap entertainment to spar with some of those clowns?

I think sky's the limit for Brooks but I don't like predicting results when there's so much time between now and March and having mostly seen Brooks in FS as opposed to folk.
But with specific regard to Zahid, I think Brooks matches up well in some areas. Mark Hall's main difficulty against Zahid is Zahid's length advantage, and Brooks is longer, built a bit like Daniel Lewis, who once cradled Zahid. Zahid has also gassed hard on occasion, which I think was also a contributing factor in Lewis's pin. Zahid on a good day may be just too polished, and perhaps his gas tank is less of an issue at 184, but I don't think it's at all crazy to imagine AB beating him.

I think the gas tank issue is not likely at 184. The times that Zahid struggled at 174 were when there were 1 hour weigh-ins and he wrestled someone really tough. At NCAA's the semis was sometimes a problem for him (Hall & Amine), but he had no gas issues when he was in the finals. I think that now he's up a weight, gas tank will not be an issue for him.
I'm telling you Iowa ran out of corn last week people are up in arms. Riots are coming any day now for real lol.

If I was a anyone in ABs ear I would study some of his FS matches and see how a guy like Dake and Derringer frustrated him and were able to get to his legs.
Not putting AB on either of their levels. But i just think if I had the athletic ability that AB had he could get some pointers there.
This......it is definitely not worth engaging. There are some great guys over there, but, they are currently being outnumbered or at least the wrong ones are being vocal and not being policed. I always see the Iowa fans comparing the two boards, but, I don't see the juvenile name-calling and child-like insults tossed around here. Anyway, I need to try to resist engaging in the future.
I'd also find tape on the Venz match at Journeyman last month. Very good wrestler but Zahid should be winning a lot more comfortably than 8-7. And it was at 184. Gotta be some lessons from that match.
There really needs to be a Rent-A-Zain program for people who need pain in their lives and have to resort to Hawkeye Resistance.
My expectations are that he will have fun, be a decent human being, and a grateful wrestler. This combination hasn't failed us much over the last decade. Excited to watch AB grow up in Blue and White.
I was shocked by that result. Shak beat Venz on a torn ACL last year.

Good post. I haven’t been on HR for quite a while. I have to admit that what bothered me the most was not the posts of Iowa fans. It was the posts of PSU fans. I felt it gave a bad rep for PSU fans and thereby to the team indirectly as well. I don’t think our coaching staff would like the way some of our fans represent our Nittany Lions.

Here is my experience from when I was on the PSU Cheerleading squad. We traveled to a number of events and were exposed to many fans. The underlying commonality was that there was a clear difference between alumni fans, and geographic fans. This includes PSU as well as OSU, ND, and most others. Alumni tend to look at the teams with a bigger picture and a sort of reverence for the institution. Geographic fans look at it as a quasi professional team. It's an allegiance to the team rather than the school. And sometimes that takes them down a path similar to supporting the Steelers, or Eagles, etc...That doesn't make those fans any less worthy than those that attended. It just gives them a different foundation than those that experienced the 4-7 years of fantasy life in State College. FWIW, the classiest fans on a consistent basis were football fans from Alabama and Nebraska. Maybe it was their supreme confidence from excess success, but they were the most gracious fans on a consistent basis. That is the yardstick I always try to measure myself by. I learned to always verbally welcome fans from other schools that travel to Central PA, thanking them for coming, telling them I hope they have a great time, and even offer a drink when downtown or at a tailgate. It makes you feel even better about being a Penn Stater. Always stay classy.

Yea, I don’t think wrestling results prior to mid to late January are indicative of much. Takes time to get into real wrestling shape and form

Am I wrong in saying that he along with Beard, Nevills, and Joe Lee were already out of high school one year under the so-called grey shirt year ( or was it this year).
If so, he should be more developed than he otherwise would have been.
