It's uncanny how much of David Taylor and J'Den Cox I see in Aaron's wrestling. I understand he's a freshman but the sky's the limit for this young man. It's a pleasure to watch him compete.
Am I wrong in saying that he along with Beard, Nevills, and Joe Lee were already out of high school one year under the so-called grey shirt year ( or was it this year).
If so, he should be more developed than he otherwise would have been.
Both. He couldn't have captured it any better.Which post should I "like", Cowbell ?

Well I'll go with what Cael saidJust remembered this article somehow: https://www.heraldmailmedia.com/ins...cle_d26328de-ba40-11e9-a7f8-2f7f146139c1.html
"(Penn State coach Cael Sanderson) told me they believe I could win at any weight class this year, 174 or 184," Brooks said. "But I told Coach I wouldn't want to get down to 174, so put someone else in there. And at 184, (All-American Shakur Rasheed, a sixth-year senior) is back. I don't know if they're going to make us wrestle off or ask me to redshirt or see what I want to do.
And after 8 National Titles, rossell says Cael still hasn't proven he's a great coach. In what world must one live in to write such nonsense.I hate to put a damper on things, but, armbartilt from HR has assured me that there is currently an ongoing investigation being done by the Big 10 into PSU illegally paying their recruits. He said that this is being done in the open and everyone is aware.
When I asked for a link or proof, I was called several names and told to stop typing from my mother's basement. He assures me that the day of reckoning is upon us at any moment.
Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.
Funny enough, despite his juvenile responses neither Grip or Turk (or anyone else) were there to police him, which I thought was something they claimed to do.
From what I have watched of Brooks I would say that he could very likely be a 4 time national champ. Most likely his biggest worry could be not to have any injury..Really has only I feel one man to beat to win this year and that is Zaid who is good yes but is beat able. Be fun to watch this Brooks wrestle for the next 4 years.
There's no point conversing with folks that sling mud. Only pigs enjoy wallowing in mud. People simply get muddy for no reason, then request a shower, pigs don't.
If they meet at the NCAA Championship it will be very interesting given it will be a one-off match. You never know what can happen in that situation. There is a ton of film on Zahid, Shak has the length to replicate some of that in the room, and experienced advice from Hall and the coaches. That match-up will be worth the trip to the Twin Cities. I hope it happens.Zahid was “good” last year at 74. Great this year at a more comfy 84. This would be an epic win for true frosh AB to knock off a 2 time 5th year senior.
I doubt many guys can claim that.
Also:Some of my favorite sayings on this general topic: "Better to remain silent and thought a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt.", "A fool's lips walk into a fight and his mouth invites a beating.", and "Whoever meddles in a quarrel not his own is like one who takes a passing dog by the ears."
Shak won’t be able to help. He will be busy focusing on his match in the Finals as well.If they meet at the NCAA Championship it will be very interesting given it will be a one-off match. Near 80% bonus rate as a sophomore and junior while at 174. 84% this year is an indiscernible difference imo, given he's a long way from conference tourney and NCAA bouts. Same great wrestler, with a bit of seasoning.Zahid was “good” last year at 74. Great this year at a more comfy 84. This would be an epic win for true frosh AB to knock off a 2 time 5th year senior.

Very well done lol.Also:
“Don’t always apologize,
but when you do,
apologize at length!”
Who ya pickin then? AB or Zahid, assuming they meet in the Finals??
I could do that.....lolIf you would post this 3 more times, I would give you 3 more likes.
Good to have you back minn
Thing is, the best man doesn't always win. It's what is so fantastic about sports. My response would be something like (or EXACTLY like), I'm looking for good energy and effort from young Mr. Brooks. The rest will take care of itself.I’ll guess Roars prediction, “A great match where the best man wins.”
You’re not wrong, of course. But I thought Taylor’s comment on the coaches show was interesting. He said he felt that with the current freestyle rules, the better wrestler wins 99.9% of the time. A bit hyperbolic, perhaps, but I think he’s not generally wrong. Curious what he thinks folkstyle’s number is. Not trying to pick a fight between the styles, but I do have a sense that upsets happen less often in wrestling than team sports, for instance. I kind of think the differentiation has more to do with senior level competition than ruleset. A lot fewer mistakes happen at that level. We have only to look at andegre’s weekly posts for examples why I may be wrong, but... The feeling is still there.Thing is, the best man doesn't always win. It's what is so fantastic about sports. 99.9%?? Heck, let's not even wrestle the bouts, regardless of the wrestling style (free, folk, Greco) or level (youth to Master's Free). You’re not wrong, of course. That could be more his intent, for sure. Not exactly what he said, as I recall it.Wasnt DT talking about the refs influence in determining matches in FS.... .at least that's how i took it......
The wrestler who scores more points wins 100% of time (using infinity for a pin-fall). Except for that one time...99.9%?? Heck, let's not even wrestle the bouts, regardless of the wrestling style (free, folk, Greco) or level (youth to Master's Free).
Seriously though, there's upsets galore...how much fun would it be if that weren't the case?
I think it was Bobby Knight, not sure, that said to a reporter after getting asked why he thought they lost the game. "The other team scored more points than us, any other stupid questions"The wrestler who scores more points wins 100% of time (using infinity for a pin-fall). Except for that one time...
Not exactly the same, but reminds me of:Zahid was “good” last year at 74. Great this year at a more comfy 84. This would be an epic win for true frosh AB to knock off a 2 time 5th year senior.

If he finishes 5th with a few bonus points...…..I think most would be pretty happy. That said...….I don't think too many people outside of HR would be shocked to see him in the finals. Either way.....he will be fun to watch.
I was thinking "Imar, this is Jason"Not exactly the same, but reminds me of:
Mack Lewnes, meet Ed Ruuuuth.

Not to be picky, but Ruth’s wins over Lewnes and Nolf’s over Imar were when they were RS FR. StandwithPride’s post was if AB beat Zahid as a true FR—quite a feat!I was thinking "Imar, this is Jason"
Yes, Aaron is a true freshman for college eligibility, but he was in the high school class of 2018 and spent a year at the Olympic training center and wrestling high-end freestyle. Not your typical "true freshman".Not to be picky, but Ruth’s wins over Lewnes and Nolf’s over Imar were when they were RS FR. StandwithPride’s post was if AB beat Zahid as a true FR—quite a feat!
Good point about gray shirt! IMO the sky is the limit for Brooks. But I have to admit that Zahid’s pretty up there in the sky. I’m glad Aaron will get a lot of collegiate matches before they could eventually meet. If Aaron had gone against Zahid in the dual we beat ASU, but that would sure have been one tough first varsity collegiate match!Yes, Aaron is a true freshman for college eligibility, but he was in the high school class of 2018 and spent a year at the Olympic training center and wrestling high-end freestyle. Haven't seen him wrestle yet, other than some youtube highlights. Do folks here really give him a good chance vs Zahid?

Good point about year differential! Lewnes would have had 2 or 3 years on Ruth (depending on whether he grayshirted). Of course Lewnes never won NC, even though I think he was twice seeded #1. Imar had 2 years on Nolf and 3 years on Cenzo (almost positive Imar RSed his first year). My point was more geared towards “ years of experience” Zahid has a 4-5 advantage over AB
Not sure bout Lewnes/Ruth.
IMAR had 1 over Nolf and 2 over Cenzo.
