Well we could always be Rutgres where most of their recruits are reaches. And then Rutgersal writes a long three paragraph thesis explaining how he’s better than any 5* that Saban reeled in.

I’m conflicted with reaches. One one hand stay put and work your butt off and see what you really are capable in the face of top end competition. On the other hand bail for seemingly greener pastures or a step down program where you can actually play. Guess it all depends on the person and their ambition and reality grasp.

Yep, and that's where discussions here seem to go off course. When anyone attempts to evaluate or comment on the merrits of a players decision using their own values, without knowing the values of the player, which no one here ever fully knows.....
