It's all about 3rd down stops?? Had me fooled...

Shoop makes reference that he is glad it is not a rebuild on the Tennessee defense - so is he running away from a challenge at PSU? I don't necessarily want to read to much into that comment but it has been suggested that Shoop is making this move because he thinks it's a quicker route to a HC job. Well, I don't know who wants a head coach that is looking for easy outs and appears to back away from challenges. Maybe there is a reason Shoop failed miserably at Columbia?

This guy is killing us right now. This is not the fanbase you want to p!ss off. The other B'OB has been trying to retrace his steps ever since he left (and rewrite history). This is gonna follow old Bobby boy. He's a PR Nightmare for us right now and the man who graciously put him in the position to make $1Mil a year.

Yeah, you're welcome Bobby-boy. Thanks for nothin!

They'll be shutting down his Facebook page in 3,2,1.

Don't really know what he means by rebuild. If it is in reference to what he inherited at Vandy and at PSU that's a fair statement. But in 2016 PSU returns 6 starters (I am including Wartman-White) and 7 if we count Golden. We also return approximately 7 kids who were second team and played a ton of football including guys like Reid, Brown, Apke and the Cothren boys. IMHO that is not even close to a rebuild.

So clearly the guy doesn't want to build a program with his own players. Great attitude for a guy who wants to be head coach.

Why do I feel like a mutiny is taking place right in front of our eyes? What the hell was going on in that locker room??

Funny that those comments are coming from Bob "Mr. .600" Shoop, as he is not to fondly referred to on Morningside Heights.

Just my guess, but I think you desperately want their to be a mutiny. Why? You'll have to answer that one. The number of moves has been startling, I admit, but I see a net positive and I'm guessing an even stronger net positive once we fill the assistant coaching slots.

I think the total number of player movements are normal when a new coach comes in. The difference is we did not see any movements after year one. Players move all the time especially when they see their playing time or roles being diminished.

Mutiny my you know what. If this is Shoop's attitude I sure as hell wouldn't want him covering my back in any foxhole. As far as a mutiny, I volunteer to be the first one to push him off the plank. What a putz.

ROTFLMAO....

"I hope that Penn State will have me forever and ever and ever. I love being part of coach Franklin's program, I love what we're building here and i said this millions of times, I think we're a 30 For 30 story ready to rock and roll. It's just a matter of time before we get this thing rolling. We're playing in the best division in the best conference in college football and that's really exciting to me."

"Audrey Snyder ‏@audsnyder4 29 Dec 2015

DC Bob Shoop said the simple answer is no, he doesn't want to coach elsewhere. But, he still has HC aspirations"

"Tim Gross ‏@TimGrossLNP 29 Dec 2015

PSU defensive coordinator Bob Shoop: "I don't plan on going anywhere ... I hope #PennState will have me forever."

OK let's start here. I don't know you and you don't know me so let's not start by assigning motives to each other. I've been on this site for years and have been a fan longer than that. There are a few here who can attest to it.

Maybe mutiny is a strong word and emotionally charged so let's call it a vote of no confidence. You have an O-Coordinator who was fired (rightfully so), then you have your starting Junior QB thanking everyone in the world and everyone at Penn State except his own head coach for the last 2 years. You have a 4 star DT de-commit, after it becomes apparent that the D-Coordinator who was recently quoted as saying he would like to stay at Penn State for "many" "many" years and "as long as Penn State would have him" suddenly changes his mind and makes a lateral move to a D-Coordinator position at another University (and I'm sorry to all the Shoop-haters out there, but he was a pretty special coach and if you don't agree you are in direct opposition to several high paid head coaches at the best football factories in the country--which means you're probably wrong). I completely understand damage control--but wake up for God's sake!

You have to act quickly to promote your LB coach to D-Coordinator to stop further flight, your offensive line coach of XXX years also bails (or gets respectfully shown the door, does it really matter) and you find yourself in PR damage control a month before signing day. You have 2 players ask for transfers, one going from FBS to FCS just to get out of dodge and another player rumored to be doing the same. Meanwhile this is all occurring at PSU, where it has NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE.

Now I'm not saying the sky is falling--but c'mon. I think the question of what's going on in that locker-room is a valid one!

Make sure you keep your eyes firmly staring up at the sky so you won't get hit from any of the falling sky debris. Did you actually read Shoop's tweets from his press conference? Do you seriously want this type of guy coaching your team? Coaches and players leave all the time at places like OSU, Alabama and other successful programs.

So clearly the guy doesn't want to build a program with his own players. Great attitude for a guy who wants to be head coach.

Yes, a fairly odd statement for somebody who wants to be viewed as "HC-worthy"...e.g., I want to be handed a great team, I don't want to have to find the "hidden gems" that fit my schemes and build anything?... Huh? How many HC's are hired into that situation or view themselves as only being able to add value if they inherit such a situation?

I think it's obvious what is going on. After two years the pieces of Franklins program are being rearranged to move us forward. The only surprises are Shoop and Reeder and both have been clearly explained

Shoop may not make a good head coach but he was a hell of a defensive coordinator. That is a simple fact. Accept it and move on. The other occurrences were a sequence of events that actually happened and are now history. I've been a CJF supporter and believe he can survive this but something broke down here, that much is apparent.

How many MORE starters left PSU in 2012 after the NCAA imposed sanctions on us? Let me know what you mean by NEVER.

First, that right there was just a whole bunch of typing that says nothing new. In fact, completely spun BS is what it is.

I think it is safe to say that, for the vast majority of us, there is no feeling that the sky is falling.

See a doctor. Get some meds. Seriously.

Several posts from "insiders" have mentioned that Shoop has a great football mind and quirky personality. A TN guy on the free board said he'd had a beer with James while he was at Vandy, and CJF joked about Shoop being a "nerd". Who knows, but based on this presser, glad his ass is gone.
