FC: Now Reeder

Why Delaware? I know he can play right away, but he's too good for that.

He wants to play with his younger brother who just committed there. Yeah well, Cabinda, Cooper, Wartman and Bell will hold it down, Hoping Ferns jumps on board as well...

Reeder was a pretty backer! Not for sure why he would go to Delaware.. Maybe its a family thing with his brother being there and his dad previously playing there..

He is good enough to pretty much transfer anywhere, so I'm a little perplexed by this move.

This makes zero sense to me. Thought for sure he was going to be the next in a long line of greats at LBU.

I've got us at 81 with all of the 5th year guys back except Kiley and Warner. Counting Von
Walker on scholie too.

Still, that's a big hit to our depth and experience at a position that doesn't have much of either. And NWW has been injured for nearly half his time at Penn State - kid can't catch a break and who knows how well he'll hold up. Bowen is a guy on the rise, but he's still only a true sophomore next season.

Maybe he had the "conversation" about his future and the crystal ball saw second string. Based on what is written above, there are some good family reasons to make the move. A "come to Jesus" meeting about the future may have encouraged those desires.

There will be more transfers. I am hearing of at least one more possibly more!!!

Homesick, wanted to play with his brother who just verbaled to Delaware. His dad played at Delaware as well. Also, probably was going to be bumped down from starter with Wartman-White coming back. Really just a weird situation where he wanted to play with his brother more than anything. Sort of unprecedented. I'm sure everyone will take this and run with it. Have fun.

I hear that, but still surprising. He ma be the odd man out when NWW comes back next year but guys get hurt and Bell and NWW will be seniors

there must be more to this story. Must be something going on with that family. Sure, his dad played at UD but his brother had a B10 offer from Indiana and he is starting at PSU. Both end up at an FCS school. Makes no sense.

Homesick??? it is a 3 hr drive from Wilm to State College!

Let them leave. I am more interested in those who want to stay. I swear to god some of the posters on here act like they are considering jumping off a bridge. I guess no one ever transferred out of this program before, nor will they again in the future.

So, what's left of the coaching staff is encouraging kids to transfer? That would be great if we had Bama's roster. As it is...not so great.

Crazy thing is that there is a VERY good chance that the HC he will play for at UD will not be the HC come fall of 2017. UD was awful the last 3 years and unless they make the FCS playoffs in 2016 they will fire their HC, Dave Brock. The UD program is a mess right now.

Good solid player. Sorry to lose him. Guessed it was Delaware when I saw the headline. He should be a star there (I'm an alum).

Seems he fell off a bit (tackling) as the season progressed and Penn State ran into better teams. And the team has more athletic LB's in the pipeline and W-W back. We'll be fine and can use the schollie. JMO.
Who is in the pipeline besides Bowen who plays the other side? The two recruits this year look more like DEs. LB is thin

Unlike some I do not see this as a loss at all. The fact he was playing tells me the poor state the PSU LBs are in. The "problem" is do we have any "athletes" that can play ??? He is indicative as to why Shoop left. We are at least 2-3 years away from having REAL talent. I do believe Franklin is the man for the job. And he will get us there.

Of all the reasons to leave, the 'writing on the wall' isn't one of them. Bell graduates next year and NWW has one year of eligibility left. Current scholarship LB's on the roster after that are Reeder, Cooper, Bowen, Farmer (if you consider him one), Von Walker, and Gary Wooten.

I agree we need more athletic LBs but until we find some we need bodies. Not sure how this isn't a loss. It's not like we have a couple 5* recruits who can start from day one.

This one hurts. I too thought he had the makings of the next great product of LBU. I thought he was all Penn State, he was featured quite a bit on the Penn State Football Story shows later in the season. The cumulative effect of all of this happening certainly gives the appearance that something is rotten in Lasch.

This is an easy answer to why. He will lose his chances of starting and have limited playing time next year with Wartmann back and the other quicker LB's filling the outside spots. Although LB is a position of depth issues today, this won't hurt us much when we get those issues resolved with recruits like Ferns or others. I wish Reeder nothing but success at DE. We will be fine! The sky is not falling, we are just in transition from a mediocre team to a good team. We aren't losing great players who are our future. We do thank both Geno Lewis and Troy Reeder for their time at Penn State under difficult times.

Not going to jump off a bridge, but this one is a lot more curious than Geno whose playing time was clearly dropping off. Reeder looked real good against the OOC schedule ... not as much against the better teams. But even if demoted to second string, two of the anticipated starting LBs in 2016 are injury-prone seniors. There is definitely more to this story yet unheard.

One wonders why he did not play in the bowl game. He had ups and downs in his play. LB play in general was atrocious. Coaches do not want players who are not 100% committed.

If you mean Wooten not Warner you are correct. Warner transferred a while ago.

Many more to come unfortunately. Hopefully none hurt this bad. I thought if he shored up his tackling that he would be great LB at LBU. Very disappointing. Bowen and Cooper are very good players.
