FC: Now Reeder

We are at least 2-3 years away from having REAL talent. I do believe Franklin is the man for the job. And he will get us there.
Hate to break this to you, but if we have to wait another 2-3 years for any sort of optimism, then CJF WILL be the man for the job. Some other job. Not the PSU job.

Spin this all you want. Three coaches, two transfers, early draft entries. Each can probably be rationalized but collectively, this points to something going wrong.

And a recent DT decommit, another visiting Baylor and hoping for a Michigan offer, and one of our top committed prospects mentioning 'back up plans.'

If you mean Wooten not Warner you are correct. Warner transferred a while ago.

Many more to come unfortunately. Hopefully none hurt this bad. I thought if he shored up his tackling that he would be great LB at LBU. Very disappointing. Bowen and Cooper are very good players.

I wasn't counting Wooten. 80 with Worley gone.

Matthews and Simmons from this years class could both end up at linebacker. Hopefully Ferns signs with us as well.

We need to get something positive, right now, like hire two new coaches, and nail down a commit or two.

Reeder would have gotten plenty of playing time next year. The likelihood of the starters making it through the season injury free is slim and there were depth concerns even with Reeder. No way he's leaving because he is concerned about playing time after starting as a freshman.

Michigan announced 2 transfers today and their DC left this offseason. I guess they're going down the drain too

"The sky is falling, the sky is falling".

We have some real Nancys in this fan base.

I agree we need more athletic LBs but until we find some we need bodies. Not sure how this isn't a loss. It's not like we have a couple 5* recruits who can start from day one.

I think we get Ferns and he will start from day 1. Actually Reeder leaving makes the path even better :) But, you are correct about bodies. Reeder is in fact a body, nothing more. I do wish him well at Delaware.

I liked Reeder. thought he was a very good get for PSU. High three star recruit if I remember. Nice size and decent instincts. Kid would have started at Pitt. I take him. Franklin all things being equal has some very good defensive recruits coming in, but you don't like losing players who have been in the program and maturing into a quality player. Little hard on him, I thought he play Ok.

The starters will be; Wartman, Bell and Cabinda. 2nd team will be; Cooper, Bowen and
D. Kelly. I doubt if Ferns or Toney red-shirt. But, neither will start.

In addition to current verbals Shaka Toney and Cameron Brown (offers from ND and USC among others), we're getting official visits from the #2 inside linebacker recruit in the country Brendan Ferns (offers from PSU, ND, OSU, USC, Stan, Tex A&M, etc) on 1/29, and 4* LB Aaron Hansford (offers from PSU, ND, OSU, Florida, Oklahoma, etc) is apparently set to visit PSU on 1/22.

We're the favorite to land Ferns, and we'll see what happens with Hansford.

Kid has 3 years of elig left and is leaving the program. There is something going on here. Sure, he may have taken a step back in terms of starting next year with NWW back, but he still had 2 years left after that. LB is becoming a thin position. Bowen, Cooper, Bell, NWW, Cabinda are only guys coming back who have played. That is a position where injuries are common with guys coming at you from all angles. 1 or 2 injuries in spring/summer and we are in big trouble at LB.

Looks like we are heading for a 25 player class for 2016 if CJF and his helpers can reel in that many good players. I hate to lose Reeder as he looked pretty solid in his first year and will get better, but maybe this helps land Ferns or Hansford, both of whom would have a better chance to play as true freshmen at OLB with Reeder not in front of them.

Always funny to read the chicken littles on the board ...

First thing UD is in Newark not Wilmington

Second thing .... As has been posted multiple times even though it seems to get ignored by those panicking and those with an agenda .... He is leaving because a) he wants to play alongside his younger brother and b) he's homesick ... Yes it takes 3 hours to get from Newark to State College but if it's his decision that he's homesick then that's his decision. It has ZERO to do with Franklin or with PSU or with playing time or with losing Shoop or any other reason that's ridiculous lol

His little brother turned down P5 offers from good schools to go play at Delaware. Hey, good for the family if that is what they all want to go on and do. Who are we to judge?

OK now I am starting to worry.

Wtf is wrong with you people ...read the article. Great kid .... Jumped in when needed....hats off to him...he will have some fun.....played one year with my brother we had a blast.

No, it points to the fact that Penn State is now part of what has been going on in College Football for years now. The stability we had was very unusual. And Joe had transfers every year too. Read "For the Glory" some time (took place during the Sacca years).

Now I can cheer with delight when he misses tackles (my school's biggest football rival is the Chickens).

Best wishes to Troy at Deleware.

Brendan Ferns can now step right into the 2-deep.
