A few open ended thoughts thus far for PSU basketball:
1) I am seeing a young team that is jelling a lot faster than I even anticipated! I am seeing a coaching staff that has found orginzation with these younger players and found a spot where they find success! I am very pleased with the wins we have! The change of systems was much needed.
2) Tony Carr is what the doctor ordered, a true program changer. We are so much smoother and more organized on both ends with him. Our attack in the half court, which is where games are won, is much more efficient. Our ball movment is much crisper. Carr has been everything we needed, our most important player. Playing very well, shooting better, and his pressure D has been a welcomed addition.
3) Mike Watkins has improved a ton since I last saw him. Legitimate offensive game, that is still developing. Love what I am seeing from him, very mobile inside and out. We need to get him a legit backup! I don't buy into the Pierce and Moore stock. I want e legitimate backup. Pierce may prove to be that, but I want to see him.
4) Lamar Stevens is playing so well right now. Love the way he attacks on both ends. A matchup nightmare, his handle and shooting has improved. A very ideal small ball four, love the way the staff is using him. Right now, he is our best finisher around the basket. I would like to see Chambers run more action for Lamar on the perimiter and have him facilitate a little more.
5) Shep is clearly still trying to find his role off the ball. Hopefully we can find him more with better spacing and more up tempo. Spacing for Shep is going to be huge for him.
6) Overall, we are playing well and our team is developing. My concern is our depth. Can we get a little more quality minutes out of the bench? If we can then I like the direction we are heading.
