Final X

Agreed. Always has. DT is huge at 86
David had mentioned many times before how his cut to 74kg was brutal on him. It took time for him to become a full-sized 86kg guy and adjust to the added weight, but now he does seem to be on the larger end of the spectrum of the 86kg wrestlers. Given his father's size I think David was destined to jump a few weight classes after college. If I remember correctly, David had said it was a very difficult cut to 165 pounds his junior and senior seasons.

Aren't yuk fans cute in the wild...

i don't think he's wrong, but also not sure it matters. i think gwiz has regressed. i don't think either are legit top 5 threats without a dream draw. but if i had to pick a guy more likely to medal, it's gwiz imo. same thing at 61 with gross/fix and 70 with zain/jo. i'm hoping the weight change helps zain, but he reminds me a lot of metcalf in a bad way. able to beat the domestic guys, but a has stylistic weaknesses that make putting together multiple matches at worlds really hard.

in hindsight, kind of risky for DT not to compete at all since worlds last year. when comparing the matches, the rust was evident in match 1. what if it took him 2 matches to shake it off and zahid stole the spot? clearly the better guy. honestly can't believe how many people thought that was a real conversation.

Why do you think JO is more likely to have success at Worlds?

I'm no expert freestyle analyst, but to my eye, his style (or past results, or age) doesn't look like a guy about to break through.

JB only still the king cuz he jumped to 79, but yeah, still the GOAT. Go get #7!
74 is too much of a cut for JB to wrestle his best and he needs to be at his best to beat Dake. If I were going to tell my grandkids stories about the greatest wrestlers and how they acted and represented the sport and how they wrestled and overcame adversity etc.. - JB would be a person being talked about and Dake might not even get a mention.

Maybe if he didn’t take the time off he would have been burned out and going through the motions. Who knows.

i'm not optimistic about either, but JO hasn't been yet and has more diverse offense. more paths to victory. just an opinion. have to admit i'm not as up on the world scene as i used to be so i'm not sure what 70 kg looks like. could be it's a weak weight and both have a good chance to medal.

yeah guys practice is totally the same as live competition. super easy to replicate the nerves and adrenaline of real competition. it's not like tune up matches are a long established practice in wrestling or anything lol
