Final X

Chittum has been connected with:
Iowa (allegedly a done deal when he visited)
Ohio State (the initial favorite)
Virginia Tech
Nebraska (training there?)
Arizona State
Oklahoma State now
Of course, there are rumors he hasn't TOTALLY ruled out returning the Minnesota, he just isn't committed right now

Also, NIL and/or scholarship isn't a huge factor for him, his family is very well off.
His sister is going to oSu and he just spent a week there

I recall Mark Hall doing the sledgehammer after a really big win. Some folks threw shade and others, myself included, thought it was awesome.
Zahid unfortunately showed how you handle getting dunked on. Win next time and mock that celebration.

Oh, he's cocky for sure. And you know what, there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with that. To be elite in anything, you have to have truly believe that you are the best.

Starocci just isn't afraid to say his thoughts out loud. I see no issue with that.
Disagree. The word "cocky" is usually reserved for the "Terrell Owens" of the world.

Whoo hoo Zain. JO looks stronger than Zain. Zain looks quicker on the shots.

Was obviously was closer than the score showed. Zain handled a fantastic body lock by JO perfectly.

Arujua looks good but Gilman is on another tier, winning every exchange. 5-0 at break.
Arujau with a nice single and finishes it, 5-2.
Step out for Gilman, plus a caution. 7-2.
Arujua with another single but Gilman scoots out and gets behind, adds a gut. 11-2.
Gilman gets a leg, dances Arujau out of bounds for the tech. 12-2. Really entertaining match.

Brandon Courtney will be at 125 next year for oSu.. Being pushed out by Figs

Interesting refereeing today with caution points being awarded on step outs where the defensive wrestler backed up, in one instance, and droppped to their knees to get a grounding call, in the other.

Good, I hate the dropping to the knees thing. Don't like stepping out much either.

Nate Jackson hit a double vs Cox to go up 2-0. Jackson has looked progressively better in FS but beating Cox is still a tall order. Cox with no offense so far, at the break.
Cox with an outside single to go ahead 2-2. Was also awarded a penalty point for Jackson holding his wrist but it was white-paddled.
Jackson lunges in, Cox sprawls clean and goes behind. 4-2 Cox is how it'll end.

Not meant to throw shade at J'Den but shocked he's not going 97KG after that statement he made about "wrath of God" and "the spot is his" about 97KG after Olympic Trials last year.

Mallory Velte keeps locking up an outside cradle against Forrest Molinari but can't do anything with it, probably because women don't wrestle folk. She's dominating though, up 9-1 late. I think Molinari has beaten Velte in the past, but Velte is a clear notch above.

Kollin Moore didn't pose much of a test for Kyle Snyder, who probably could have ended it earlier finished the tech in the second. TD, feet-to-back, go-behind, gut. 10-0.

Somewhat interesting that Cael is wearing a Titan Mercury t-shirt with his name on the back.

Sienna Ramirez showing up better against Tamyra Mensah-Stock than probably anyone figured, went ahead 2-2, but TMS stands for Too Much Stock, and now it's 6-2 at the break.
TMS also locked up an outside cradle, went the other way with it for 2, but Ramirez slipped her head for the reverse.
TMS with a TD but can't turn. 12-3, one minute remaining.
TMS with an ankle pick to end it.
Ramirez has maybe the lightest resume of anyone at the trials but she's a name to watch.

Would you call that above average officiating? Asking for a friend on vacation …

I don't know how I feel about the first one because ceding a step-out point happens a lot, can be tactically sensible, and isn't exactly a problem in search of a remedy. But forcing wrestlers to wrestle is positive. But falling to your knees to negate a step-out point deserves punishment, I think.

Second session doesn't start until 8 pm, and I won't be able to do PBP b/c I'll be flipping between this and the Rangers.
I hope the rangers get to the finals so my Avs and Cale Makar can skate all over your blueshirts and Adam Fox! It would be a pretty great series I think
