Five Years & Our "Leadership".

Our BOT and many others are nothing more than cults of self gratuitous, self entitled and overpaid corporate baggage that have been the overseers of hyperinflation of costs in public education with little or no gains in measurable educational success, by any measure with which I am familiar these are not leaders. They are great glad handers that predominantly seek public and private research grants with no other discernible institutional responsibility.

The crybabies can't even enjoy Christmas. But jobots aren't a cult.

Every time you make a post I think this is what you do after you hit "post reply"

Still continues to fiddle with their nuts and allows Penn State and the Paternos to be sullied. Merry Christmas to the rotten pigs. Delaney is a pile of crap.

This is a serious question for any of you that regularly complain about the BOT. What is it
that you want them to do? I have to admit that I "moved on" long ago and just recently
started reading some of these the BOT is evil threads. How do you expect them to
stop PSU and the Paternos from being sullied?

How about they openly admit that they have screwed up and mismanaged the entire Sandusky situation from day one.
How about they admit that they erred in firing Paterno using a "fire..aim..ready" mentality
How about they vote to resurrect the Paterno Statue?
How about they apologize for their actions, and lack thereof?
How about they denounce the Fact-Freeh report as complete and utter crap?
How about they actually honor Paterno with something far more than a token 50th anniversary arm-wave at a September Temple game?
How about they apologize to all alumni for doing the exact wrong thing every time they have been faced with a decision regarding the Jerry Sandusky matter?

That is for starters. I'm sure others can add to this quite easily.

Take responsibility fur their actions regarding Jerry. Especially those that were also on the board of the Second Mile.

They used football and more specifically Joe as a sword and shield to protect themselves.

Step forward and admit it

As a community we will still have to deal with whatever Jerry did. But we don't have to stand for poor leadership and the leaders placing or insinuating blame on the wrong people.

Get off their asses and insist the B10 pay back the stolen funds; restore Paterno's name to the B10 trophy, pressure Delaney; rescind the ridiculous "censure" by all the assholes, Presidents and Chancellors involved.

An apology to all Alumni, employees, and those associated with Penn State. An admission of wrong, and full retraction and denunciation of Freeh's garbage. An apology to the Paternos.

Recognizing Joe formally and the return of the Statue.

Stop stealing?

I know - silly me

Obviously, a completely crazy expectation - - - but I do think there may still be a couple folks out there who would consider "not stealing" to be an "expectation of membership"

:)

I'm not aware of what stealing you are referring. I certainly would agree if in fact they are stealing.

So basically you have no realistic expectations.

Are you really that stupid? The pay and make it go away approach to handling Sandusky's crimes is a absolute failure. It may have worked for Vioxx, but certainly not a college. How about the BOT start by admitting that?

While I agree with your general premise, I haven't moved on. Wish I could. But the story just doesn't make sense as currently written. And when as story is as important as this one is to me, the facts better darned well support the conclusion.

Ha. Not no realistic expectations, just perhaps higher expectations than are likely reasonable under the circumstances. I think much of the world can accept the disappointing story of folks wishing they'd done more. The problem is the willingness to throw some under the bus and adopting a story of intentional collusion and wrongdoing.

I appreciated your answer. I just noted that none of what you had on your wish list
is ever going to happen no matter who is elected (except for some on this board) to
the BOT.
Hence, the PSU BOT will always and forever be viewed as a dysfunctional organization and a dismal failure.

Yes he is. Several experts in the field have called the PSU BOT out as a case study in bad crisis management. That goes right over Osprey's head. He seems to prefer the bend over approach.

The experts are right. And I expect both sides of this regretfully nasty dialogue agree with those experts. It's absolutely a case to be studied in managing a really really bad crisis. I don't like how they handled it either. And I'd bet many of them don't like how they handled it. But this doesn't seem over Osprey's head.

I would add they should apologize for saying we were all responsible. The vast majority of us never even met Sandusky yet Ken Frazier chose to shift the blame from a feckless BoT onto the shoulders of the entire Penn State community. That's how it works with cowards. When they screw something up, instead of taking responsibility they simply blame someone else.

There are many on this board that believe they would have done a better job. I seriously
doubt that is the case.

They 2011 BoT set a very low bar. It was pretty simple to say, "Everything was our fault. To whom should we make the checks payable?"

Actually in this case many could have - the reason being is because this whole mess was created by some very evil people (yes even beyond JS) who had an agenda and scores to settle. Therefore, even a decent manager or fiduciary, WITHOUT a score to settle, could have handled this much better.

You seem to think they are victims of the situation when, in reality, you cannot be a victim to a situation you yourself created

A little knowledge, a little honesty, no petty personal and political scores to settle sprinkled with a true good faith effort would have been the recipe!
