My guess is that abode only has hardwood floors, that are waxed regularly. This is the 2000's, and "no carpeting" is the norm. This isn't the 70's where shag carpeting was all in vogue. No idea why it was. All those fibers trapped the dirt and gunk. And if you accidentally spilled on it, it was a b*tch to get clean
