Flu bug

Cael unequivocally stated that Zain was not feeling well prior to the match in his post-match press conference - here is what Cael factually stated:

"Zain is probably the toughest kid I ever met. He wasn't really a......you could tell that he wasn't really feeling great."

Immediately after making the statement, Cael made statements to make it beyond clear that he was not saying it as an excuse or in any way attempting to demean Sorenson's effort....or that that the match would have gone any differently regardless of how Zain felt prior to the match.... IOW, Cael made it clear that he was simply making a statement of fact about his own guy and how tough he was both physically and mentally - note, Cael didn't say "I don't think" or anything else like that, he stated unequivocally that Zain didn't feel very good prior to the match and thought it was pretty apparent (i.e., "you could probably tell that he wasn't really feeling great" - Cael is saying that just looking at him spectators could probably tell he wasn't feeling well due to the way he looked....being flushed, etc...; absurd to basically postulate that Cael doesn't know precisely how his wrestler felt healthwise prior to a match as his Head Coach!).

Really odd that many of you can't accept Cael's statement that Zain didn't feel well prior to the match for precisely what it was - a simple statement of fact made to compliment his wrestler for the toughness to go out and perform despite not "feeling great". It was intended to compliment Zain on his physical and mental toughness - it was not intended as an excuse or anything else, etc... Zain didn't need an excuse, he WON the match. Did it impact his performance? I guess there is no way to know, nor does it matter.....etc.... But as to whether Zain did not feel well prior to the match, Cael very clearly stated he did not feel well and thought it was obvious to everybody by just looking at him!

The infamous "train through". Not to be mistaken with the "train flu".

Both of which are cured with Flu Pro.:D
You do not wan to get the train flu. Those bathrooms are very small, and it can get ugly quick. Besides, Flu Pro apparently has spotty service as it is, let alone getting a signal on a train.

The issue isn't so much Zain but original post suggests there was a team wide flu problem that affected PSU's performance in a negative way.

Really? I guess Cael Sanderson specifically stating he didn't feel well is not "evidence"? Are you trying to claim that it is "pure speculation" in quoting Cael Sanderson's statement? LMFAO - kind of ironic that you would be making such lame and completely baseless accusations about anyone who is simply saying the EXACT SAME THING coach Cael Sanderson unequivocally stated at the post-match Press Conference. Here is a link - HIT THIS HOTLINK and scroll to the 2:38 mark. Here is what Coach Cael Sanderson unequivocally stated:

Thanks for the link to the Cael interview. I had not heard/seen that earlier. If it was somewhere in the thread earlier, I missed it. Still, nothing specifically about the flu and other wrestlers. I appreciate getting to hear Cael's post-match interview. Thanks again for posting the link.

Why is anyone making excuses? PSU won the dual and it wasn't even close. Sorenson wrestled a fantastic match. He didn't win, but he wrestled great.

PSU went into CHA and beat Iowa worse than Okie State did at home. The Hawkeyes only mustered three wins. Great dual for PSU. There isn't any need to make any excuses.

Maybe some of our guys had the flu/were sick, but I thought Iowa wrestled hard, and made it tough for us. They didn't put themselves in vulnerable positions to give up big moves (apart from Brooks, but even then, he was in deep on his own shot, it's not like Bo took him down and forced him to his back).

I think credit should be given to Iowa for making the dual tough. However, I'd like to see some rematches in a neutral arena.

If a negative team performance = 26-11 victory over No. 3, then by all means, I'm down with this kind of bad.

Not sure anyone is making an excuse. Just making an observation that some of our guys looked off. What the reason is, who knows? You are 100% correct in saying no excuses necessary. I for one am not complaining about a big dual win, besides which, getting a win in St Louis is really the goal.

Exactly, and Minny's whole team had the flu in the Penn State dual. Eggum confirmed it when he said the guys came out flat and didn't wrestle well.

You crack me up consistently. I am 100% certain I would like the heck out of you in real life. Guys like you,21 guns,Spyker, etc. are why this board is fun.

Don't think anyone was making an excuse including Cael - he absolutely stated that Zain did not feel well prior to the match.....and he not only stated this, but thought it was so apparent by the way Zain looked that he (i.e., Cael) thought it was obvious to most spectators including the press - Cael literally said the following in his post match press conference comments when asked about this match: "Zain is probably the toughest kid I ever met. He wasn't really a......you could tell that he wasn't really feeling great.". Cael then immediately clarified that it was not meant to take anything away from the way Sorenson wrestled, but was solely intended as a compliment to how tough Zain is mentally and physically that he even went....and not only went but won the weight-class for PSU.
