For those of you who remember all the talk about Dominick Bragalone, it looks

like things all worked out for everybody. We got Barkley and Lehigh got Bragalone where he has excelled. He led the FCS in rushing and touchdowns and is first team All American and Patriot League offensive player of the year. He's a Junior.

He led the "FCS."

I hope he never graduates. We need to keep posting about him forever. In fact, we should rename this board after him.

Not only does the name "Bragalone Board" have the happy coincidence of alliteration, it also easily rolls off your tongue when you say it.

Some surfboard company should grab that name and make it famous. I see a Shark Tank moment!

Some fell in love with many kids PSU didn't recruit. How often are they mentioned?

There aren't any other FCS or D2 recruits who some on BWI felt should have earned a Penn State offer. It had nothing to do with Bragalone the person or player, and everything to do withi the idiocy of some on this board.

The board isn't, and has never, made fun of the kid.

The board has, and is, making fun of the idiots who kept questioning the coaching staff on why they didn't offer a scholarship to Bragalone.
You can call me a grammar Nazi (or worse), but since you did this twice in one post I just thought I'd point out that "the board isn't . . . made fun of the kid" and "the board has . . . making fun of the idiots" are not correct.

The infatuation with Bragalone was taken to a whole other level.

Gee, thanks Omar. Did you get the point of the message? I think so.

I'm looking forward to the Combine (presumably in 2019) to see what kind of speed and power he really has. THAT was always the big thing about DB (he had Mamula like chartbuster nmbrs)... not his yardage or hype, but his incredible-on-paper numbers. Numbers never tell the whole story, but IF they were accurate (no one seems to say with any confidence that they were) it made for interesting conversation.

Everyone knows we take a shot on some kids with marginal numbers, so it seemed reasonable to consider him (I liked the idea of a powerful kid with 4.4 speed on ST's). Guessing (pure speculation) he was offered the chance to walk on but a scholie to Lehigh was a better deal (especially if he was told he likely never plays RB at PSU).

One thing got cleared up... at least we know he wasn't a borderline student if he's making it at Lehigh. Happy for him.

I did. And I get the point of a message when someone misuses "their," there," and "they're," or misuses "two," "to," and "too," etc. Just pointing it out because I figured you wouldn't make most of those common mistakes but likely were unaware of your mistakes in this instance. Tried my best not to be snarky while taking the chance you might want to avoid similar mistakes in the future. That's all.

If he had come here he would have won the Heisman this year, and gone pro. Then we would get Barkley back. Dammit! I KNEW we should have offered him!

There are 6A high schools that can compete in the Patriot League now, it's pitiful. But congrats to him.

You are absolutely misinformed. No 6A team would even be able to compete with a division 2 team in the PSAC. Even the not so good PSAC like Lock haven would beat a 6A team.

The reason is even a 6A team has primarily d-3 or non football playing players starting on their team. No 6A team is full of college level players.

You would be surprised with size of the players even at D3 level.

Agree. Even a Catheral Prep, with 3 big time prospects, still have 8 other guys on the field who couldn't play in the Patriot League. OL's in the league are 300 pounds across the board. Even dominant lines in high school like Wood have many kids who are below 250.

All I can say about those of you who chose to belittle this young man or his name is that I used to those things too. Then I went on to third grade and stopped doing it.

I think i get it now. If his numbers turn out to be all that.. if he turns pro and is successful.. THEN some folks will have to admit they got it wrong.

The rest of us have never been so vested.. we see a kid who on paper seemed to have enormous potential and wanted to see him have the chance at psu..

His failure or success is not a mark on us.. it's a mark on Franklin. Apparently that is the issue.

From my pov, I don't care one way or the other.. but if he's as good as advertised, I'd love to hear an explanation as to why he wasn't psu material when "on paper" he sure offered us a LOT more than some of marginal knuckleheads to who/m we actaully offreed scholies.

IF he was as good as advertised, what kept us from finding common ground?

What about the kid that went to Bucknell, believe he broke the PIAA career rushing record , Jordan Hall? not really sure but everybody posted on here I'm hearing that his grades were an issue. Yeah dude went to Bucknell his grades weren't an issue people just needed to rip him because he was a small running back. And bragalone was a great player and probably could have got a scholarship offer from Penn State to play linebacker. You know we aren't exactly lighting it up there.

Linebacker? He was like 5'9" , maybe 5"10" 185lbs when he graduated HS..I think he is at the right school and probably pretty happy.

I think the explanation is that he camped at PSU, Franklin observed him competing/drilling against other kids with D1 potential and decided to offer him the opportunity to walk on, or possibly as a preferred walk on(can't remember for sure).

Furthermore, I think Franklin probably trusts what he saw in person more than some numbers on a piece of paper, seeing as how he has some experience in these situations. Look at Journey Brown as a similar situation.

Common ground wasn't found because Franklin thought he was worthy of a walk on opportunity (which I'm sure probably could have turned into a full scholarship) and obviously the Bragalone family thought a guaranteed full ride to Lehigh was a better opportunity for them.

Nothing wrong with that from either side and I hope the young man achieves his dreams, whatever they might be.

He was 5 10 200 and built like a brick shit house. Or do all Lbs have to be greater than 6'1... what are farmer and cooper 6'1 235 now.

A lot of people way smarter than most of us here and involved in college coaching thought the same thing.

It's ok to miss/pass on players... doesnt mean they arent good or couldnt contribute

Edit:
And yes I think he prob happy ended up at a great place and will leave with a great education. I don't begrudge the coaches for pass on him. I'm upset we missed out on some small school WR named Andre and and OT who blocked for Brees...

I just don't see why people have to rip a kid just bc people post update of a local kid

No because smarter people closer to program who are smarter than us here said that to me. Dude is an athlete and player and could have contributed in some ways more than others we have on the 85. Not saying he is stud or unhappy he isn't here.

Just don't know why in the course of arguing with posters who post his stats people have to take shots at the kid. So what they love the kid. He's local and good for him what he is doing.

I try to go to small school games when it doesn't conflict with Penn State... because college football at any level is awesome... I drove from Eastern PA a few years ago to watch a Slippery Rock game in WV with my dad. Cuz we had nothing to do.

Please tell me your joking about people not ripping the kid who went to Bucknell with made up stories about his grades.

I have no idea what you're talking about with Bucknell.

Bragalone went to Lehigh, and he sure as hell didn't get any looks from anyone at any level for linebacker.

I lived 2 blocks from South Williamsport's field until a few months ago and saw him play. He was impressive even though many times the competition wasn't great. I don't know the family personally so maybe there is some reasons he wanted to stay closer to home who knows.

With all that said there is reason he is in the patriot league and not at a P5 school. I don't doubt that he shows up with an invite to the combine and put up good numbers. I still believe if he was to be on the big stage someone out there would have offered and he would have accepted.

I for one wish him the best of luck because it would be cool to have a local kid light up the combine and have a buzz about him. I have a picture somewhere on the computer with him at a golf event he was at. He was taking pictures with all the foursomes for some reason. (lots of man crushes in Lycoming county about him I guess?) He is got the thick legs like a running back but he definitely isn't a hair over 5'11. Rambling over.
