Okay, but you can't omit the bitterness component, which is a strong and pervasive element of the overall HR mentality.

This is pretty much spot on. I got banned, I think (although, because the mods there don't communicate with you, I'll never know for sure), because I told HR posters doing "because Sandusky" that bringing Sandusky into Penn State wrestling discussions was just about as bad as bringing Gable's sister into Iowa wrestling discussions. I thought that would help them understand how inappropriate it was. I know Rutgers mods get whining pm's that drive them crazy, too. This boggles my mind.
A group of fans that visit a website generated $141,130 an counting to help support Iowa wrestling. HR is the best/most active college wrestling board around! So much hatred here over nothing. Why lable all of HR with so many degrading names? It's a few posters on there that make you say that. Not all of HR.. Its the same way with this website. Please learn to separate the good with the bad and focus on the quality wrestling talk and information. The Ignore button is great option btw.
Yup, without question. Without the overt and caustic bitterness, HR would not be nearly so entertaining. Fortunately, I don't see that changing any time soon.
If the common theme here on BWI was that Brands is a cheating, scumbag I think you would understand why some of us find it hard to post over there and have common ground.
No one does that here. We may make fun of tan Tom or even Brands jokes but NEVER with the contempt, hate and out and out lies most ther say about Cael.
It's much more than a few, but I'll give you a "Like" for the effort. Both boards have their percentage of haters.
I think you missed the point. What has many here a tad upset is Brands assertion that cheating is going on at the collegiate level. A charge you basically agreed with by saying 'he's honest'. If Brands is going to make that assertion he needs to back it up with facts. I had a high opinion of Brands until this accusation. Back the statement with facts or acknowledge it was fake news.
Many won't understand why but that reply was hilarious!
My experience was about 90% down right vile, with people saying they wanted to fight me under a bridge and another poster swearing then asking chief for a pass, which he gave. All because I had the nerve to ask if Vodka was going to follow through on his board with what he said here he did. Instead he totally gave a guy a pass for bringing up Sandusky.

If I went to HR and put on Ignore all of the posters who like the PSU cheating conspiracies, HR would all but disappear entirely.
Honestly you do not know me one bit so not sure where that comes from. But I couldn't care less, I said I would not post there again and I haven't. I am not going to let someone come on here and act like it is all rainbows, puppies and unicorns on HR. There are some very vile people there. Something others are also stating. Are they all taking it too serious?
I've now found that if you have a problem with what's being said on HR, throw a quick jab or two and then get the hell out of dodge for a few days. Let things simmer down then go back and give them one swift kick to the balls... just one though and get out again.

Yes, most people take it way too serious. The “fighting under a bridge” comments were a complete joke. It’s not much better over here.
On the contrary, there is no hated here, at least not from me. As stated previously, I enjoy HR for exactly what it is - pure entertainment. The fact that HR is not intended to be so entertaining for the visitor just makes it even more so.
Edit - It's WAY more than a "few" posters that give HR its degrading (but entertaining) character.

Another thing of note. Any person that has access to a computer can create a profile and post on both Rivals boards. That leaves a lot of room for posers and trolls.
A lot of people hate Iowa simply because they have won so many championships and titles over the years. I believe you are experiencing that "fan hate" currently. Am i right?

As an aside, I’m assuming most cheating CP is alluding to is not the blindingly obvious and sexy bags of cash violations, but rather the boring and arcane rules surrounding illegal contacts that trips up many coaches in sports across the board.

I do appreciate your attempts at keeping things positive. There are a lot of good posters on HR. The bad apples, like w8atehawk just need to be called out more by the good posters.

I get your point, but some posters will be who they are and won't let one ounce of criticism affect how they behave. We know that all too well here. Fortunately, we are able to have fun with it . . . as long as we keep winning.
When that last part stops being true, there may very well end up being a new cesspool in the neighborhood.
Slush, the problem isn't posters like weh8, they will always be around and we have them too. It is the posters that give him a pass. We generally call out our ridiculous posters. That is the difference.
Well, in the case of that particular individual, he has been called out by some HR faithful for those posts in the past. However (as noted over there previously), since it has no affect on him, people stopped bothering.
The bottom line is that many on HR are obsessed with PSU (for good reason), and many on BWI are obsessed with what posters on HR are saying about PSU. I guess it is fine to care, but you can't expect to go into other people's house and tell them how to run it. HR posters decide how they handle "their own" -- not us.
One individual came over here to tell us how to run our show, and guess what? We jumped all over him and ridiculed him mercilessly. I'm fine with that, because it comes with the territory, and they do the same at HR. Sure, our methods may differ, but the HR isn't a warm-and-fuzzy place, anyway. That's fine -- each of us has a choice about whether to participate.
There are good people over there. They do get swamped by PSU/Cael-haters periodically, and so it just comes down to your tolerance level for wading through the crap to read good stuff, learn about various perspectives and personalities, and possibly engage. But we have no right to go on their board and tell them how they should be admonishing certain posters in their house, even if one of them did come over here and make a contradictory statement about the subject.
Here is the problem with your take. The minority is not the goofy shyts, they are the majority. The other consideration is even the ones who are worth reading when discussing wrestling almost all readily jump down the rabbit hole when the opportunity arises.
You know. Like when the subject used to be Tom owns Cael, Cael is a traitor to his school, Cael will be exposed once Taylor and Ruth are gone, Cael cheats, blah, blah. No matter the wrestling IQ, almost the entire board jumps down the hole and participates in the collective delusional rationalization.
There is a simple solution. If you don't like it because it offends you, makes you angry or uncomfortable then ignore it or avoid it completely. In my mid 20's thats what i did with some of my long time "friends". My life and health got a lot better. You are always in control
