Football GAMEDAY THREAD: Penn State vs. Minnesota

Or bringing up Sandusky and basically calling us pedophiles…yeah, as long as they said that sh!t in a respectful manner. Give me a break.
They don't need to bring up Sandusky, there are plenty of PSU idiots to do that for them.

Meltdown of epic proportions. Even a win by 7 points will not be tolerated. In fact, any win is not good enough. We totally blew it last week. No coming back from that, all is lost.

I guess what many of us don't understand is just how low everyone's expectations are. Why aren't the expectations to win the conference and earn a playoff spot with a 6th year QB? People say we're rebuilding but we aren't. There's no rebuilding in year 9.

Wrong take. Far from a perfect scenario.

They should have fired everyone 2 years ago but they went totally stupid in the other direction.

I'm not the one on here preaching about how we are the absolute best program in CFB and showing 0 respect for others. Why would I consider this game a showcase when the other 51 weeks of the year I see nothing the least bit positive about our opponent's abilities? When did MN suddenly become a "showcase" opponent? Some of you are still blathering on about how bad the MI program is and what a low-life they have for a coach. Make up your minds.
People are saying that it is an important game for PSU to win. Obviously you don't agree so you can have your opinion.

@crm114psu - you wanted to know Justin' prediction, I just got it from him. Penn State 24 - Minnesota 6

"Penn State will be able to control the Minnesota passing attack with Tanner Morgan likely out of this game and multiple offensive weapons still making their way back from injury.

If the Nittany Lions can control the ground game like they have offensively so than they should be able to score enough to put this gaem away early.

With a hostile crowd in the mix as well, I like Penn State to bounce back and handle PJ Fleck's team.

Thanks Dylan!

I don't know if anyone expected that Clifford coming back was the ticket to a playoff spot. Most of us thought it was weird that he came back for a 6th year and it put the coaches in an awkward spot.
I mean, I wish he moved on but "rebuilding" would make a lot more sense if a true freshman was starting the opener not a guy that should have been gone 2 years ago. Rebuilding just doesn't exist in college sports other than when a new coach arrives.

They don't need to bring up Sandusky, there are plenty of PSU idiots to do that for them.
They also don’t need to participate in the discussion so they can throw their crappy comments in there. Prior to Sandusky, trolls like that would have been banned for saying a lot less….since Sandusky, it’s open game for these morons to say whatever they want. That’s kind of my point.

We aren't different and never have been. The only difference is you believed "success with honor" which enabled Paterno to keep expectations lower than they would be at other schools. Please step out of the 70s and 80s. Look back and think about things without your blue & white shades on.
Success with honor was real. Sorry the almighty narrative has robbed you and so many others of that legacy.

Landon Tengwall and Nick Dawkins both appear to be out for Penn State this week. No Keyvone Lee as well, and as noted earlier, no Chop Robinson.

It really wasn't. It has nothing to do with the narrative. It's about how the fanbase tolerated mediocrity. Success was when we were contending and winning MNCs. It's been nearly 40 years. Almost 30 years since 1994 which was our truly last team that was worthy of being in the discussion.

Not surprised you don’t get it.

10 - 2 in a rebuilding year would not be bad at all.

At the beginning of the year, most of us would have been thrilled with 10-2. I still am.

But first there's the slight problem of getting to 10 wins. It has to start tonight with Minnesota.

There will be no excuses for a loss. This is a game we should win. This is a game we must win.

As for the people already downplaying a win (if it happens), well honestly, they're full of shit.

Will the game start on another channel if this Oklahoma State versus Texas game runs late?

You guys are especially vicious already in the Game Day Tread. Usually we wait until our first ridiculous offensive play or defensive break down, before we fire Franklin and debate his successor.
Your words are mean, hurtful, and oppressive.

Just kidding... pile on.

yes they were. both usc and texas came close to losing late that year and we were next in line
We were ranked 5th or 6th when we played Michigan State, right?
We were never 1 or 2 that season.
We got lucky that we played an awful Florida State team in the Orange Bowl
I never thought for a second that team was winning a MNC.
Didn't we struggle with Northwestern that year as well?

Both Clifford and Franklin got a mixture of boos and cheers in starter introductions.

How could this happen? Must be a bunch of haters in attendance, need to ban them from the game.

Yep, all is well in Happy Valley.

Weak. That isn’t the PSU way.

To be fair, anyone booing Clifford is being ridiculous. Franklin--okay

pretty sure we were 3 in the bcs by the final weeks of the season

texas a&m had texas on the ropes and that almost certainly would've put us in the championship game

usc had a close call vs nd and briefly were in trouble vs fresno state

all of those couldve been the difference, so we were very close
I don't believe we were 3 until the final rankings
I don't believe for a second we'd have gone over USC or Texas if they had a win
We weren't beating either of them for sure though

Oof.. Penn State's first drive is halted after Mitchell Tinsley backtracks on his own accord, missing a first down. then there's confusion on if they're going for it or not. A false start pushes Penn State back and Minnesota will start at their 22 yard line.

Poor first series for the offense.
