Football GAMEDAY THREAD: Penn State vs. Minnesota

Minnesota takes a 3-0 lead with 1:57 remaining in the first quarter.

Penn State's offense will look to respond after two three and outs and a Sean Clifford interception.

For those who are going to be wondering, yes, Sean Clifford is coming back into this game.

This offense has deteriorated into shambles. No ability for any push on the O Line. No separation from WRs. And a lousy QB.

You can add the WR corps as cheeks as well...we knew the OL would be a question because it is annually...the DT room blows and the WR room has zero blazers with any consistency. Outside of that, not too many issues.
we've had difficulty getting wide receivers open for a couple of years...dotson was the exception.
Watching tennessee play, they have receivers open on nearly every play. Is it the players or the passing schemes?

Good question...I mean I'm sure the schemes have something to do with it...but also being able to run routes at top speed and doing so effectively and with high technique takes tremendous skill...we clearly don't have many of those guys.

Yes. Likely some of both. Plus OL not giving any time.

Penn State found success on their final drive of the first quarter, onto Minnesota's side of the field.

They'll head into the second quarter down 3-0.

Do you really think a QB change is going to help
I’ve been saying no a lot. But throwing 2 yards short of a 1st down on 3rd and long with no pressure, a bad INT and then being lucky to not have another INT has me thinking yes.

Man, I'm like way behind on my TV. There were 16 seconds left when you posted that. I get you're there. But others have posted the play as it happened on here.

I'm fine with whatever but couple things
Throwing 2 yards short on 3rd down without pressure is likely due to them taking away everything deep
The pick was bad
The second "should have been pick" was a horrible route by the WR--either he quit or was interfered with or both

Penn State opts to attempt a 41-yard field goal which is good.

Penn State ties it up 3-3 with 13:55 remaining in the second quarter.

Okay--wait--I get Minnesota running on 3rd and 8 to settle for the FG given their true freshman QB but what the hell was that 3rd and 5 play call...
