Gilman (Olympic Version) vs Lee (2021 NCAA Version)

Cassini definitely has a future in freestyle.

However, he's been passed by Parris since both arrived on campus. He needs to figure that out if he's going to make noise on the senior level.
I think Parris was always considered the better prospect between the two, he just needed to fill out and become a full sized heavy, he was more a 220 when he first go to Michigan (and not even a fully jacked 220) That being said, yes, he would need to figure out Parris ... Kerk is much much better at free than folk also.

Cass did really well this summer in freestyle, win over Dom Bradley and I would not be shocked to see him win U23 Gold at all.

Yeah Parris is a beast. I still hope he goes to play football lol. Maybe Cass will go Greco-Roman like @js8793 says and win some medals that way.

Why do you concern yourself with me so much over the years? I'm a Hawkeye fan. So what? If you could get over that you would feel a lot more at ease.

I don't disrespect your wrestlers or coaches. I like many of them in fact. I was a fan of Cael before you were born! Lol.. The Olympics just got over and this is a thread about two Hawkeye wrestlers. You get that right?
You use a sharpie for this drabble?

That’s why I’ll slap you instead of punch. My arthritis acts up. Plus you’re a bitch…

time to ditch this thread. Got a feeling Roar or Tom is coming in soon to scold me and make me feel shame…
Nah....he needs this.....he wants it.

You know it. I know it. He knows it.

Its sick of him but nothing like the lot lizards.

Cass did beat Parris in freestyle in HS. Parris bulking up is obviously part of his progression at Michigan. Having a better freestyle coach is another. Having a better training partner is yet another.

Anybody who beats Bradley and his grown-ass man strength can't be all bad.

The thing I love about Gilman is how quickly he was embraced by our guys. RBY credits TG for his transformation this year from being a super athletic kid with all the potential in the world to a National Champion. Culturally, he fits in so well which I truthfully never would have guessed early. He's really become one of us.

He didn't change either, he might have mellowed out but he is still the same intense guy. It wasn't without some bumps. Starocci said on Baschamania he was ready to fight Gilman Summer of 2020 because he was sitting down before a workout and Gilman walked by, kicked him and yelled "GET THE F*** UP" and Starocci was like "Little man you did NOT just kick me"

I hope gilman hits the Powerball and hangs around HV for awhile. However i think he will be given a great offer down the road to head west or south once he takes the shoes off.

He has stories to tell, perspective to sell and wrestling knowledge to impart as well

Paris had never fully focused on wrestling full-time until he got to college. He was an All-State football player and did Track & Field (shot put, hurdles). He had very little exposure to FS, doing only an occasional FS tournament. The combo of focusing on wrestling and size, as you mentioned, is what helped him make the jump. Those that followed him in HS fully expected said jump.

Yup it's tough but it's part of the process with PSU/NLWC. Eventually all of Cael's guys are going to leave the nest. They are all great wrestlers who are even better humans and they all would make great coaches and have learned from the best. Thus they will all be hot commodities across the country as Cenzo just showed.

Our coaching positions are filled and it looks like they're all here to stay but we should enjoy seeing the Cael tree really branch out.

Are you stupid or what? You do realize the entire post he made was because he was sick and tired of you PMing him all the time to ban me because I keep hurting your feelings? The guy couldnt even enjoy the board because you pansies wouldnt stop bothering him and you embarrass the rest of your fanbase. If you don't believe me, go over, pm him and ask. His name is Mike Zeirath. To be honest, I think he and I have come to an unspoken resolution. They keep giving me usernames and in return I quietly take a new banning from time to time so he doesnt have to listen to you crying like a newborn that just shit it's diaper.
Now who’s making America a better place? I vote johnstownsteel

My thought on Gilman.
He is wrestling with more freedom.
He is without a doubt a better wrestler than he was, I dont think it would surprise many if he won a gold medal.

I would love to hear more practice room stories about Gilman lol. Another famous one is from his true freshman year at Iowa when he knew he would be competing with Cory Clark for the spot the following year, he would try to play mind games with him. Famously, when waiting in line to climb rope when it was Cory's turn, Gilman jumped over his shoulders onto the rope to cut him in line lol. Dude is...different.

To be honest years ago I wasn't the biggest Thomas Gilman fan. I thought he had a bit of a punk factor and was immature with some of the antics.

I think Desanto reset that bar, granted I like to watch him wrestle. I extend AD a little more rope, maybe foolishly, due to his condition.

In any case I have seen so much growth in maturity from Gilman over the last 3 years in particular, I am open minded, and have come to admire him more with each passing season. When you listen to his interviews he is articulate, humble, focused, personable, and now downright likeable. I love to see a success story, and he is a good example.

I think TG is a fine wine that you can come to appreciate more and more as he ages.

Yeah, Gilman won silver at worlds a few years back, but the Gilman that took bronze last week is a much more complete wrestler, more comfortable in all positions.
I believe it's generally accepted that the Worlds immediately after the Olympics is considered the "weakest". Not saying a Silver isn't a wonderful accomplishment, but bracket wise, it's probably the equivalent of a 5th place finisher at the Olympics.

It certainly seemed like Gilman was following the Mike Zadick path of a World Silver after a disappointing NCAAs followed by a gradual fade into oblivion. The move to State College clearly recharged Gilman and he looked better then I have ever seen him wrestle.

Hey Turk, I see you over on HR giving the fellas a play by play of what's being said in this thread. Next time you head over, tell them I said they are all a bunch of c**ts just like you.

'preciate it...

It would not surprise knowledgeable folks, but there is a mid-west fan base who would have a few experience serious butt-hurtitis.

Nice to see Thomas’ personal and professional transformation since moving to the NLWC. Cael and Cody good. Opening energy pathways good. Spiritual experiences good. 😀

Avatar good.

That's Willie's line. You owe him a nickel or have to buy one of his "Be Better" t-shirts.
We’re in trouble if Iowa hires Melania Trump. There is no way Willie’s “Be Better” can withstand Melania’s “Be Best”. :)
