This is an incredible short video of Augusta National. I’ve been fortunate to play on dime great tracks but this looks like heaven on earth.

Hard to bet against the big three: Rory, Rahm, Scottie. But if I am being I am taking a LIV guy. For some reason my head says Sergio.

Definitely on my bucket list but I have almost no chance to be able to play it. Probably the closest thing to golf heaven!

The course is in a “bowl”. You play in a bowl and go round and round and up and down. Kinda hard to describe but it’s not a huge foot print by some modern standards. Lived in Atl and St. Simons and was there in the early eighties. It was not hard to get on as long as you were with a “member” or family there of. It was extremely snobbish to anyone but the southern gentile. Seems more “pretty” these days. Wasn’t overly impressed 40 yrs ago but they stage it well at this time of year. It’s almost like a made for TV event.

I attended the Tuesday practice round in 2019. Amazing. Rain delayed our entry and then had to leave the course again around 10. Walked down right side of 10 and headed right thru the trees townd 11 green. When we emerged the sun broke thru and it was like a religious experience. The beauty of seeing 11 & 12 greens, the azaleas and the creek. Tv can never do it justice. As someone else said you can't appreciate how hilly it is. The only flat ground is the tee boxes. I think you could sled down 10. I definitely will go back.

Been fortunate to have been there twice for practice rounds and once for a live round and it did feel like golf heaven on Earth. Hope to get to St. Andrews and Pebble Beach.

Nothing is sports can compare to Augusta National. The best thing is no cell phones allowed on the grounds and the customer service is something to see and experience. The folks who run the tournament really know how to make this a very special venue.

The efficiency of the concessions is a sight to behold…and it’s the only place I’ve ever been where I was amazed at their ability to get you in and out of the bathrooms.

Being there on Wednesday last year, I was amazed at the infrastructure on the par 3 course. Never expected them to have bathrooms and concessions on the far side of that course that they use one day every year…and they even upgraded them for this year.

I played Cypress Point. Seemed like as good of a time as any to bring it up.
I’ve had the privilege of playing Cyprus several times… best course l have ever played and that includes Pebble, Oakmont, Merion, etc. it is almost as difficult to get on as Augusta. I would give a lot to play Augusta but that seem unlikely. The combination of beauty and history is hard to beat.

I too attended a practice round about 10 years ago and had the same reaction you did. When I walked along the 11th hole and got to the point where things opened up and suddenly I'm looking at the 11th green to my left, the 12th hole straight ahead, and the 13th tee box and fairway to the right I just stood there in awe. I remember the hair on my arms actually raising --- indeed, as you said, it was like a religious experience. As others have already conveyed, television does not do justice to the constant, and often dramatic, elevation changes. I've done a lot in life, but that day was one of my ten most memorable. All I could talk about was the course, not so much the golfers I followed. To this day, having been there gives me a completely different perspective on the course and tournament when I watch The Masters on TV each year as I still remember every hole on the course perfectly. FWIW --- maybe you'll never get a ticket to watch the actual play Thursday - Sunday, but there is a very active marketplace in securing tickets for the practice rounds Monday - Wednesday (and it's a lot less expensive than a concert ticket for Springsteen, Swift or the Rolling Stones).

And how 'bout the low food, beverage, and snack prices. You could have a decent lunch for about $5.00 at The Masters. It's so refreshing to not get ripped off when you are a captive audience at a major concert or (especially) sporting event.
And tickets WAY under market value, with free parking. Just such a unique place.

I've been three times, but haven't been since COVID. They used to have a row of pay phones, that were free of charge. The first time I was there, I called my wife, and she wanted to know what was wrong. I told her nothing was wrong, but I was calling her from the Masters!
She didn't understand.

Simply incredible! If it’s not on your bucket list, it needs to be. Here’s my experience. Like all of my posts, I love going back and re-reading them because it puts me right back there. But with this one I can even smell the grass. 😊

I am not sure if anyone saw the cheating at the Masters Yesterday. Brooks Koepka. Apparently, BK hit a great five iron shot into 15th green. TV clearly shows his caddie telling his playing partner "Five!". A player, in this case a caddie who is an extension of the player, cannot assist a playing partner. This is a two-stroke penalty. Both color analysts on The Golf Channel said this was a clear rule violation. BK said, in the post game interview, that this was after his playing partner already had played. But others say that doesn't matter. Some said he was telling a TV analyst but the analysts with them said this was not the case. Why is that important? Two players can help each other in their round which is unfair to golfers on the course that are not in their grouping who are NOT helping each other out. Even if the second player already played, he is playing it again the next day.

Seems simple but most of the true golf snobs were shocked that he was not penalized. Others say it happens all the time but it isn't always picked up on TV. Even simply showing the other caddie the number on the club without saying it.

Note that it's fine to talk about what club was hit after both players have played. However, the incident occurred before Woodland hit his shot.

Unfortunately, I'm thinking the next golf that we see is on Sunday morning. Finish round 2 on Sunday morning, play two tees in 3somes for round 3 starting on Sunday around noon, and maybe get round 4 started very late Sunday with most of round 4 being played on Monday.
