Oddly enough the Olympics and the freestyle season really screwed us this year. How bittersweet and ironic if the panic takes it off the calendar.

If we don't lose Cassar and Berge, our dual streak is still alive leaning towards an all time greatness mark.

We would have been much closer to an even match on paper with the bad guys going onto Bigs and beyond.

We start the year with 3 6th year AA's including a National champ, and exit with only one showing some positive signs he might get back his AA pre-injury skills. Put me in the camp that he gets that AA again this year. All that and we are still in the conversation - amazing!

Then again we have the 11th man everyone else can only dream about. Cael is part "March" maestro, savant, wizard, zen master, Kwisatz Haderach. If he pulls this one off, which he may well do, it will be his best, and cement his legacy even to the detractors. If not, he is still the best coach in the nation, and of this era by a light year. We are so blessed - now let's go!

Injuries happen all the time. There is no guarantee that Berge or Cassar would have made it through the season healthy if they would not have gotten hurt wrestling freestyle. We just don't know. This is all a part of the sport. Or any sport for that matter. Plenty of other teams have dealt with injuries over the last decade while PSU has remained relatively healthy.

It will be hard to believe after we win the NCAA title. Right now it’s just wait and see. :)

Quite frankly i believe in our boys come the national tournament. It’s not that i don’t believe in them now for Big tens but a lot more outsiders could spoil Iowa’s chances.

as far as cementing his legacy, Cael/ Carl has already done that as a collegiate wrestler, Olympian and as a coach. Winning it this year won’t cement anything but it would just add to a rich legacy already. We have been spoiled for an entire decade. We hit the injury bug this year but that’s not to say we won’t bounce back. We have a top room in the country and as long as these men lay it all on the line that’s all that matters.
