idk about that. gulibon’s was wayyyy closer, multiple times.Jimmy’s was in a neutral scramble, right? but still…
Steiber was flat for a second too.
I’m sure there have been far worse but this one here is worst non-call I’ve seen.
i just watched it again a couple times. you can see on the video that both of his shoulders are up until about 2 seconds and his right shoulder is tilted so that it’s way up. at that point jack gets more backward pressure and forces his shoulders towards the mat, but the tilt remains in tact which leads me to believe (though we can’t see) that his right shoulder was still up. at 1 second there’s another adjustment and eierman starts squirming back and forth. this is the first moment that the call could have been made, but eierman was still able to rock back and forth which probably means his shoulders weren’t consistently flat for the duration of that second. that’s a really tough position for an official to make that call on what would be close to a touch fall in a position that falls are always called slower. like i said earlier, jack needed 2 more seconds to establish more control so eierman couldn’t keep rocking out of danger and he has it.
don’t fall into recency bias. the gulibon call was a million times worse. he had heil a millimeter from being pinned for what felt like the entire match.
