What I’d take over a PSU win (honestly) is the B10 ending the stone age tradition of always scheduling “The Game” at the end of the season. I don’t care about rivalry week and all that BS. If there truly is no bias then scheduling should be done the same way for every team, not a select few.

The stupid rivalry stuff also affects the division breakdown, which is absurd and hurting the whole league right now.

I followed college football extensively thru the ‘70’s and ‘80 (era of the Big 2, Little 8) and consistently watched OSU or Michigan go undefeated against the little sisters of the poor, then punch their ticket to the Rose Bowl. Only to get blasted by the likes of USC, UCLA, Washington, and Stanford. This happened routinely during that era.

While OSU/Michigan were practicing “3 yards and a cloud of dust” the PAC 8/10 conference teams were “Pro Set” offenses that routinely blasted them. How many times did I watch a Top 5 Michigan team get there hats handed to them. I used to say to myself, how on earth did this Michigan team get ranked so high?

It wasn’t until the ‘90’s when Penn St joined that the conference got good at football. The only team I can remember that was any good back then was Iowa (back in the ‘80’s). Wisconsin wasn’t Wisconsin yet, a team like NW was a worse program than Temple.

The rest of the league was really that bad.

That said, your team has benefited from some rather uncharacteristic actions by the zebras over the years, the most unexplainable, egregious one being when they conveniently added 2 seconds onto an expired clock, ultimately allowing meatchicken the final game-winning play. Considering this occurred before instant replay was introduced to cfb, tough to ‘splane that one away.

Oh, and as previously posted, playing a cupcake Midwest schedule for 100+ years does help build one’s total wins resume. So there’s that.

Even some of their AP Top 10 finishes weren’t legitimate. I know of at least 3 instances where Michigan got the benefit of the doubt in the early ‘70’s when they didnt play in a bowl game. This was back in the era when only the Big Ten champion could play in a bowl.

So when other schools had to win a big game against a quality opponent in a prestigious bowl to make the Top Ten, Michigan was given the benefit of the doubt. The media sang “Hail to the Victors” carrying water for this school way to many times for my taste.

actually instant replay was in use that year. they just chose not to look at it when the weird 2 second thing happened. I have never seen refs more blatantly try, and succeed, in handing a victory to a team than that game. The 2002 game was also horrible and may be the reason instant replay exists in the first place.

I think it's only appropriate to point out the referees when they Fuk up. After all this is why we have instant replay in the Big Ten when we kept getting screwed in games by Michigan and OSU. Speaking of OSU I understand Michigan are the biggest crybabies regarding the ref's when playing OSU.
