So I haven't been in State College for 31 years ! and have really been wanting to come back for a game. Looking at next years schedule the obvious best home game should be Michigan. Have no idea where to start looking for a couple tickets. Will need to make cross country travel plans so can't try at the game. Anyone have an idea how this could pan out ? Of course other games could work. Thanks in advance …..Tim

edit : Of course just saw ticket exchange.....dohh

Get your travel plans nailed down first. There will be a lot of options for obtaining tickets later. The Michigan game will be the only one where you may have to pay more than face value. All other games will have tickets available at less than face (stub hub, ticketmaster, etc).

Hotels will be very expensive in State College - look at outlying areas such as Altoona.

yeah, you should be able to find tickets for any game on that board. The bigger games (like Michigan), can be a challenge, in that folks selling are looking for a nice premium, or when a post about tickets for the game get posted people jump on them really quickly. However, if you're willing to take something other than Michigan or homecoming, you shouldn't have much trouble finding tickets on that board.

FWIW, there aren't many tickets listed there at this time. Some folks will start posting them after the Blue-White game. The availability will pick up in the summer, and even more so in the fall.

As you have to make cross-country plans, which can be a challenge, you might also want to look at stub-hub, and some of the other ticket exchanges.

Frequently, the biggest challenge is finding lodging. I've always been able to find something the week of a game, but you have to be really flexible to be able to do so. There are B&Bs that are nice alternatives to the hotels.

Due to your having to lock in flights and lodging, my suggestion would be to pick a game you want to attend, line up the flight and the lodging pretty soon (even without having tickets). The tickets will be available, either on the ticket exchange board or other locations, or at the stadium, but you're unlikely to be able to get them at this time.

Good luck

I’m certain that you will be able to obtain tickets. Just plan your trip properly as the above posters have wisely advised. However if everything falls apart PITT always has excellent 50 yard line tickets available. Just drive right up to the main gate at Heinz stadium, park your car and walk in with no waiting. If it’s a nice day you’re family can spread out and take a nap or work on their suntans.

If you're anything like me, you might be uncomfortable booking nonrefundable airfare without having tickets in hand. If you are willing to spend the money, you'll find tickets for this game. But it might cost you quite a bit. I usually pay up for tickets to OSU or UM just for the comfort of ensuring I have them. Many here will tell you that you can find some in town or in the parking lots for reasonable prices, but that's a big gamble if you are already committed to thousands of dollars in airfare and lodging fees. I simply don't take that chance and usually just end up paying more than face value in advance whenever I travel in for a big game.

Michigan is likely the White Out game, so plan for traveling at night after the game ends.
No one knows what what the kickoff times will be, complicating plans. If Mich is an 8 PM KO time AND a white out ( highly likely) you better plan on sleeping in the parking lot after the game. Game will end around 11:30-12 and the lots will be crazy. You will most likely be far from the stadium.

Rent a camper or a van/SUV that the seats allow you to lay down and sleep awhile. BTW, a White Out is worth the cost since you haven't been in SC for so long....no other game will compare.

Depending on what airport you use....Philly/Pitt or even Newark will determine where you stay. Anything near SC will require a two night stay. Expensive but may be worth it since you haven't been there in so long. Otherwise, look for something 30 miles away for a single night.

Depending on how many are coming with you and their ages/sexes, getting more than two seats together will be tough. Four or more will be expensive. But again may be worth it for you and yours. If four or more, look for two pairs of tickets, meet up at halftime to compare notes, maybe switch seats at halftime if two are really better than the other two.

ENJOY!!!
